I’m pretty sure that we’ll have implemented a strength and conditioning program for him, as with all our players, until pre-season starts.

Will be a big season ahead for him and pretty much a sink or swim scenario. 

I would rather play Forest or say a Derby away than a Watford or Fulham.

I actually thought Maguire looked as good if not better than Grant Holt when he moved him up top. Something for Southgate to ponder for future games I reckon.

He goes out on loan to a Championship club again who’ll be challenging the top eight places. Full season with a recall option if we need him.

Would probably do the same with Archer and Chuk (if he stays). 

Year on year we need to upgrade the squad where possible.  Now for me he’s certainly an upgrade on Steer, Nyland and Kalinic.

The ‘£55m’ is just a random figure. It can be any amount. I’m just alluding to a deal where the money is very similar so essentially swapping out a player. 

yes, or Jesus from City.  Either player is better than Watkins in their ability and overall play.

Watkins does have his qualities but his general play is quite poor for an elite footballer. 

I wouldn’t be against Richarlison or Jesus joining if we did decide to sell Watkins to the hammers. Either would be good enough.

I know absolutely nothing about the fella but really pleased at the speed of this appointment.

Sometimes a new voice with new ideas can freshen things up as well.  

I suppose the only shining light to this is it’s not even June yet, so wouldn’t be the most disruptive thing to happen.  I’d be more worried if it was during preseason or a couple of days before our first game.

Big decision for Gerrard and a test of who he knows and trust’s in the game.
