  1. Purslow is ruthless enough to not worry about sacking Gerrard. It’s a business and at present it’s failing on the pitch, which in turn is costing us money.

We’ll most definitely be sounding out a replacement if not already done so.

I think you’re right. The plan was to up our profile and in that respect the plan worked. But sadly the other big part of his job, the coaching, has been pretty woeful. It can’t go on too long, hopefully we’re close to finding a replacement. The  what appears to be reluctance to spend further money on the squad at the moment would certainly indicate things are afoot.

This is where I’m baffled? Gerrard has worked under some fantastic managers and coaches, whether it be at Liverpool or England. Probably some of the very best.  So why hasn’t he bought those best coaching and managerial experiences/knowledge with him? It’s baffling.

  3. I actually find it laughable that we can’t even get a draw when we play a team like today. At the very least you take a 0-0.

We’ve completely lost the ability of being hard to beat, keeping it tight etc. The longer the game went on today, you knew they might take a chance.

If you can’t win a game, you don’t lose and we can’t fathom this at all.

I probably more than most really wanted Gerrard to succeed here but today is a really low point for me. West Ham in the first half were awful and we should have been two up with more creativity, luck or downright being more clinical.

We seem devoid of confidence and manager seems devoid of ideas on how to turn it around. The beginning of the end for him now I feel.

It’s a shame because he’s brought us much needed exposure and some very good players into the club. However, the basics on the pitch don’t even seem right now. Time to act and quickly in order to change our season.

  4. I honestly don’t think Poch would turn us down right now. None of the big six or seven need him unless Man Utd implode.

We have fantastic owners, training facilities, a ground that’s getting significant upgrades and some very good players.  He’d come I reckon.

edit - if he did say no, then Potter or Rogers would be more than acceptable.

  5. I really thought this was a good appointment and Gerrard would slowly grow into being a top manager but it’s clearly not working right now.

Will it change over the next few weeks? Unlikely, which will make his position untenable I would have thought.  What a shame.
