  1. The Ghana fans i know claim he could be as good as Essien and from what i've seen of him i agree, he's a box to box player with pace, stength and can create too, he'd be an absolute snip if we manage to get him, he's only 23 too so he can only get better, he's got the trusty left foot that could replace Berger's imo. Didn't he play on the right of midfield for Ghana with Essien and Appaih in the centre at the world cup? Manure were interested in him I think when Ronaldo was sulking although obviously a different type of player. No he played on the left of midfield for Ghana at the world cup but his favorite position is center midfield, but as you mentioned with top guns like Essien and Appiah in those stops he had to draw the short straw!!, Manure were linked with him before the world cup because he had a trial with them and they wanted to sign him but they had permit problem and it failed, but now he's played for Ghana so many times that wouldn't be a problem.
  2. Read my post properly and step out of idle mode please!!,

  4. News Now has a report linking us with the man i've been raving about on these forums for a while, Sully Muntari, i don't know how true the link is but it's an article from a Ghana website so there might be something in it, i certainly hope there is because he's a top four midfielder in my opinion, And again we are linked in the independent with the West Brom trio Kamara, Davies and Koumas, i think it's a genuwine link to be honest, Mon has been watching them for ages it seems.
  5. You must have it wrong surely?, because apparently James Milner is "miles ahead of Wright-Phillips" , you've gotta love those Milner fans!!.
  6. I really don't understand why people seem keen to see Luke be on the bench or even sold, do people know that Luke has scored eight goals in his last twenty one premiership matches?, that's very close to a one in every two games ratio, and half of those games he played out wide including towards the end of last season, this year he's got three goals in nine games which is of course one in every three games, those stats are impressive imo, i think with a little more quality around him we could have the 15-20 goal man right under our nose in Luke Moore, i like Bent but Luke is two years younger and for me already has more skill and one could argue is just as good a finisher as him too, it will be interesting to see what Mon does in the striker department this summer, i certainly wouldn't like to see our youth thrown out for the likes of Bellamy or Nugent that's for sure.
  7. Etto is one thing, Bent is another, wasn't the likes of Etto, Henry, Van niestleroy ect all up and coming young players at one stage?, Gabby has scored 9 goals already so it's clear the potential is there, for me he could easily reach the 15 goal mark next season with more quality around him and he deserves another chance, if we get a real class forward in the summer then fair enough i certainly won't complain but imo Gabby has the potential to be better than the likes of Bent and Bellamy.
  8. We've also been linked with Distin according to the papers section on the OS, i'd be absolutely delighted with Boruc and Distin to be honest, and if we add a new quality right back too then we'd be sorted at the back for me, Carew is simply an all round talent, he's a massive fella with pace, not many players are built like him, and for me on his day he's a world class player, Bent would be a brilliant signing but i must say i'm starting to like what i'm seeing from Gabby and it would be a shame to just drop him after what he's done this season, i think we are witnessing the birth of a sensational player in Agbonlahor.
  9. So i guess one has to watch a player for 90 mins every week in order to express an opinion?, funny because my Honourable friend hasn't seen Bullard for most of this season but still feels he can lable him "one of the best midfielders in the league" , i guess that's just the way it is for me, detractors follow Cybervillan all over the forum!!. If that's the case then you should be fairly adept at ignoring them and not resorting to name calling. Can we draw a line under this now please? Thanks - NV
  10. None of youe business Good for you His name is Djemba-Djemba so stop being ignorant as it doesn't make your point look any better, and furthermore i guess you wouldn't have wanted Vieira then?, or Essien?, or Makelele?, stop stereotyping it's very foolish  Again none of your business but if you read your Tv guide you might just find a clue.
  11. Erm even smarty pants should have enough sense to see that i said we need a younger Berger AND A BALL PLAYING DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER, but yet again he's let himself down with providing idle stats without any substance , furthermore i watch a lot of Italian football and i've seen Muntari put on some storming displays for Udinase (sp), he's also been strongly linked with Manure, and who doesn't know about Yaya Toure?, he's been brilliant for Monaco this season and almost moved to Arsenal to play alongside his brother last season, and of course both Muntari and Toure were stars for their respective countrys at the world cup but i guess everyone was watching the "mighty entertaining" England!!.
  12. Doubt you've ever seen them play. You can't just throw out names you've seen on FM or seen on youtube. And you know me i assume?.
  13. You dont like Bullard do you :winkold: IMO Bullard is one of the most underrated midfielders in the league, it was no coincidence Wigan have slumped dramatically without his drive in the middle of the park! Can you tell me why we dont need a box to box , goal scoring midfielder, who has already proven himself in this league? ...and you cant use the fact he is 29 against him as by common opinion he should be approaching his peak (He is actually twenty eight), and would give him plenty of time to recover from his injuries! Oh right so Roberts wasn't an influence for Wigan too?, what about Chimbonda?, but oh no "it was all Bullard that saved them"!!, also i'm not saying we don't need a box to box player, i'm saying WE NEED A BETTER ONE THAN BULLARD!!, i can't believe you're so obsessed with an average player, i wanna see international class players at villa who can give the likes of the top four something to think about, do you think the likes of Gerrard, Sissoko, Carrick, Scholes, Lampard, Essien, Fabregaes, Obi Mikel ect would be concerned about facing Bullard? , that's why we always mess up against them because we've rarely had top quality in that vital area, someone like Yaya Toure or Sulley Muntari would be the ideal kind of players we should be looking at, not Bullard.
  14. Yep, but apparently he"s "one of the best midfielders in the league"!!, the top four must be in tears that they missed out on such a talent!!.
  15. You cant really class Bullard and Berger as similar targets! I agree that we need more class or 'panache' in the team but this must be fused with players that will graft at a consistent and high level. I would class bullard in the Parker or dare i say it Ian Taylor type that most good teams need.....i think this also answers what id hope he'd bring to the team! Excuse me i didn't infer that Bullard was like Berger i said the team need's a younger version of Berger, secondly no he's nowhere near as good as Parker and who would he replace in our side exactly?, Petrov?, Young?, everyone's hero Barry?, he's around 29 or something and has missed the whole season through injury, it's time villa fans started thinking bigger than the likes of Bullard!!, thank god O'Neill seems to be thinking along the same lines as me.
  16. jimmy Bullard a great signing?, i don't think so at all, blimey what on earth would he bring to our team?, we need real class players to move forward not Wigan rejects, a quality young play maker in the mould of Berger would be nice and also a ball playing defensive midfielder, Bullard is none of those.
  17. Well Mon did suggest lately that Gabby has been our player of the season so i'd be inclined to agree with him , the fact that he's got the same stats goal wise and assists as Barry and is in he's first full season coupled with the fact that he's scored at the top three's grounds and has saved us from a relegation fight in the last week i think he deserves it, for me he's been the most exciting player to watch this season without doubt and has stepped up to the plate and delivered when it really counted.
  18. You might as well give it to Cahill because for me Gabby has been our PLAYER of the season full stop, he's got as many goals as Barry (without a single pen), he's scored at Old trafford, Stamford bridge and Anfield, he's basically saved us from being in serious danger of going down this last week and he's got around the same amount of assist's as Barry too , people can claim he's not been "consistant" but for a young lad who's in his first full season and to have done what he's done deserves massive credit, while Barry bottled it on Saturday Gabby came through and that's the sign of a quality player.
  19. It is very difficult to get quality youngsters from the top clubs. Flamini for example has played loads of first team games for Arsenal. AW has had plenty of opportunity to assess his full potential. If he was prepared to let him go, I would say that means he's not good enough for us. The same would apply to Fletcher or Richardson from Manure. Why would those clubs let their top youngsters leave? The best you can hope for (from the big clubs) is to get lucky and nick a kid who's had little or no first team experience. He was prepared to let Bentley, Pennent and Upson go and they've all done well i'd say, sometimes it's about having too much quality in one area and so someone has to leave to further their career, i mean they have Silva, Fabregas, Diaby and Denilson all going for that midfield role so it's no surprise he's found it hard, but he' stills managed to play quite a lot for them this season and of course scored against Chelsea too, Wenger has said he doesn't wanna let him go but Flamini want's to play first team football.
  20. I agree his finishing has been brilliant this season to be honest and i'm not surprised one bit, he was our leading scorer in pre-season with 5 goals in 4 games and even though he's been playing on the wing a lot his finishing hasn't left him, that finish yesterday was of a man completely confident in front of goal, he made it look so easy it would have been funny if it wasn't so important, and as many know Friedel is no fool, but he isn't the only one he's made it look easy against, when he was one on one with Reina he made it look simple, against Foster he gave him no chance too, and it's crazy to think how many Vassell used to miss and Gabby at such a young age can do it with his eye's closed, i really think he can hit 15 goals or more for us if he plays up front with big John and has a little more quality around him i really do.
  21. Apparently he's on his way out. You don't ask, you don't get... Ok, didn't know that. Agree that we should go for him definitely. As you say, don't ask, won't get. And we have to at least try on players like him or better. For me the likes of Flamini are the type of players we should be looking at, a young talented player at a big club with proven quality and champions league experiance who would have a point to prove, that's a bit like how Villarreal rose to prominence in Spain and in europe because they took chances on talented players who never got a look in at big clubs like Riquelmai, Forlan, Sorin, Reina Jose Marie ect and it paid off for them big style, i mean yes there are a few Djemba-Djemba's out there but i don't think Flamini would fall from grace in that fashion.
  22. Yep he's someone i've wondered whether Mon will be in for, i was shocked to hear he's still only 23 years old too, he's done well when i've seen him this season and as you mentioned he can pass the ball around nicely like most Arsenal players these days can and he might not cost too much by the looks of it. i wouldn't mind him at Villa at all.
  23. Seitaridis is a very good shout, he's the Greece right back isn't he?, last i heard he was at Porto, he came to prominence at Euro 2004 and is a real class act i must say, i think this summer it's important for Mon to get the basics right, it's clear what we need, A 20 goal a season man Decent defensive midfielder Right back and center back and probably another creative midfielder/winger that's five players minimum and if he's got the backing we expect he may have then it shouldn't be a problem.
  24. I don't agree at all that Sidwell is better than Reo-coker, Reo-coker was miles better than him judging from last years form and that was also his first season in the premiership like it's Sidwell's now, imo Sidwell is not the sort of player we need if we are to move forward, players like Yaya Toure, Muntari or Mounkon are the type of players we need in the holding role, players who are both physical and creative, i've had enough of us signing average players like Sidwell.
  25. I've seen a bit of Pique when he's played for Real Zaragoza which is the club he's on loan to right now, naturally a center back apparently but he's been playing the defensive midfield role and has done well, even scored against Barca the other day, he's a big fella like Huth too, i wouldn't bother with a loan though, Also if we're in for Sneijder then imo Barry's position might be under serious threat, the kid can use either foot with quality and can create goals and score goals from distance, a real class act he is and he would really lift our midfield in terms of attacking ability, he's the sort of name we need to be bringing to villa park if we wanna move forward.
