  1. Why? , why do people think that if any other side shows an interest the player won't come to us?, it was the same with Ashley Young, everyone thought he was "going to spurs" and we all know how that turned out,. My sentiments exactly. People 'fear' Spurs and Toon on this board, (they won't admit it but they do), it's shown especially with Toon with the thread in the off topic section. If we're in for Reo-coker, he'll come to us. Not Newcastle or Spurs. Completely agree, it's sickening the way people big those clubs up, i for one feel we shouldn't fear ANYONE in this league let alone clubs outside the top four, Nigel isn't stupid, he'll see where this club is heading and want to be a part of it. Newcastle have nothing on us - I know that villa are a much better club and have a better future. Spurs on the other hand are looking damn right good for next season. I for one think that they will be mixing it up with the top 4 (along with us). Do I fear them, NO!!!! I'm trying to give a non-bias opinion. So if Newcastle have "nothing on us" why do you insist that Nigel would choose them over us?, your contradicting yourself. i believe Spurs are overrated, and we'll be the ones to prove that next season.

IMO!!!!! 1) he seems to be a cockney lad and will want to say in london... so first option is Spurs 2) If not Spurs, then I think the toons will be his second option 3) I've not done my research but, how many players have been lured away from Central London to the midlands? IMO - he'll go to Spurs Of course it's your opinion, i just don't think it has any substance as only him and his Agent will know where he's heading, i'd rather believe that our club can attract such a player despite competition.

  5. All the talk is of Tevez but West Spam started to pick up results when he was recalled to the team and began running their midfield. It was only last summer (or summer before) that Manure and the Arse both offered 10m for him. What I heard was the Spammers told him that if he stayed another season they'd allow him to move so he and his agent told said clubs this only for the spammers to go back on their word, which pissed him off hence the shite performances for alot of the season. No surprise that I feel is a promise of 'help us stay up and you can move' has resulted in some great later season performances and wow, a potentail move at the end of this season. I see him as potentailly a cockney Ian Taylor with a hint of the Viera about him. His game is similar IMO. He'd fit in superbly. The spammers will struggle like **** without him, moreso than the illegal immigrant upfront. This guy was captain of Wimbledon at something like 19, such was how much he impressed the manager. Says to me a player with a winning mentality. So he went off the boil at West Spam. It happens in any industry. And when your bosses lie to you your otivation will take a battering. Please sign him Martin!!! I totally agree, i remember seeing him when he broke through at Wimboldon and he was just 17 years old and it was clear to see he was gonna be class, soon after he was made captain, the rumours suggest that he's as good as ours already but we'll just have to wait and see, on form he's one of the best in the league so i don't see what we have to lose, much better than Barton imo.
  6. I never thought this day would come, ever, but i agree with you!!
  7. Just a small factual correction: In terms of defenders we've also signed Younes Kaboul (centreback, French U-21 captain). It's not been announced officially yet because the La Ligue season doesn't finish until this weekend. Oh no not another "factual correction" , he hasn't signed yet so it's not a "fact" and furthermore Jol waxed lyrical about Dawson being your 'player of the year' and he's hardly gonna drop King so for me there won't be much changes to your obviously leaky defence.
  8. And why should we be behind Spurs? , they've added a 17 year old untested left back to one of the worst defences in the league, i can't see Bale making much difference to it, on another topic, just watching Bellamy now for Wales and he's done ok, scored a nice first time strike in the box, if he's still the player he was at Blackburn then he'd be worth the risk, i just hope that Gabby and Luke don't get pissed off because i still believe they have the potential to be better than Bellamy. They are poor at the back because they are excellent going forward. Who is to say they are going to be equally poor next time around? They have the same financial muscle as us and are a few years ahead of us really. They have finished in 5th two years in a row and we have finished 16th/11th and they are able to attract better players than us. I am just being a realist, on paper they should finish 4th-5th next season, I hope we finish 6th. We are all going to have other opinions come August though, when we (and they) have signed new players. So let's wait and see. Excellent going forward?, didn't we score more than them away from home?, and also we were the only side in the league to score at the top four grounds!!, Spurs are the kind if side to score loads of goals against the lesser sides but when it came to the top four their record is hardly impressive, we also only failed to score 3 times away from home which only Manure could better, their defence is shocking and i can't see it getting any better, i also don't believe in this "two years behind them" crap because Everton and Bolton pushed them all the way for 5th place so it's not like they were miles ahead of everyone under them.

  10. I'm not sure, if you saw this "superstar" some fans seem to think he is then probably not. Hate? , nope i simply don't RATE him as highly as others do, that's MY OPINION though, i simply want a better quality of player in the middle of the park, like Fernandes, Toure, Van der Veert ect as imo all are better than Barry there, i don't have any problem with Barry staying out on the left if there's no-one better we can bring in, it's all up to Mon at the end of the day.
  11. Yeah he was the difference alright!!, from the penalty spot  In the last nine games imo it was Petrov and Berger who ran the show.
  12. A lot of people have suggested "Taylor is nowhere near Barry's level" but i'm inclined to disagree, Taylor offers something that Barry can only dream of, and that's a goal out of nothing, Barry only managed that once this season against Spurs but Taylor is an expert at it, he can very much be the difference between a draw and a win for us, for me he's better suited to the left wing and he's got more pace than Barry out there, he might not be the box of tricks that Young is but in any good team it's important to have a player who can pull you out of trouble and Taylor can be that, if we're already in talks with the guy then i say we've as good as got him, 6m would be fair i guess, imo it's important that no player is certain of there place and the more quality we bring in the more that's a reality.
  13. Imo all the players start with a clean sheet next season, i mean when Luke scored 5 goals in 3 games and was on that brilliant run could you see Gabby taking Lukes place?, i certainly didn't, it's all about who grabs their chance next season, no-one should have a devine right to start, talent wise Gabby isn't any better than Luke imo.
  14. Because he's scored 9 goals in his last 25 games (16 starts, 9 sub) and he has the potential to be a major player, if you can't see that then that's not our problem. Im not saying it was your problem i just wanted someone to explain to me why he is so good, whenever i have seen play he looks lazy, theres a reason why Bent is hot property and Luke Moore is not You moaned about why people rate Luke, i simply suggested that if yoiu can't see the reasons why people rate him then it's not our problem, and also maybe Bent is hot property because he's at a small club who plays him in every game?, how do you know Luke couldn't score a decent amount too if he played every game for Charlton?, i think he could. and furthermore he's two years younger than Bent, so nobody knows how he'll be rated when he's Bent's age.
  15. I never thought this would happen, ever, but I agree. I would be confident of Moore getting at least 15 goals next season if played regularly so why spend money on Bent if it means letting him go. Having both of them is an altogether different proposition though. It's a miracle
  16. Because he's scored 9 goals in his last 25 games (16 starts, 9 sub) and he has the potential to be a major player, if you can't see that then that's not our problem.
  17. We'd be crazy to let Moore go in a deal to get Bent, what was Bent doing aged 21 exactly?, he was in the bloody championship, Luke has shown that he can score goals against the best this league has to offer and to just get rid of him would be disgraceful, for me Luke is just as good a finisher as Bent and has more individual skills!!, when he was injured people we're praying for his return but it seems a few people can't wait to see the back of him now, against Boro he had one half chance!!, Scored, against Bolton he had an even harder half chance, Scored!!, i believe with his shoulder fully recovered he's gonna come back in pre-season and be on fire, imo he can be better than Defoe, Bent and Bellamy, he proved he can be a class act with what he did to Boro last season.
  18. Why should we not sign a quality player because of the African cup?, so are you implying that you'd turn down Drogba, Essien, Appiah, Etto, Toure ect too? , the Yak scores goals and that's what we need from a forward, we've got the two young lads who are more than capable of covering for him if he does sign for us, going away for a few weeks is not like missing a whole season.
  19. but how many of those are from open play? Look at AJ, Everton buy him for 8mill for his goalscoring record in the Prem the previous season. 9-10 of those were pens You can't score over 15 goals a season for three years running and depend on pens all the time, he's proved he knows where the back of the net is and i think Mon would improve him.
  20. not according to the CEO Jez !!! Cyber I am not claiming Defoe is world class, nor would I want him ... WC forwards are very rare .... I believe we can get players who can grow into the world class level, who would have thought Dwight would have reached the level he did?, or Henry when he was at Juventus?, the likes of Etto was playing at Mallorca for a while and was never labled world class and neither was Drogba when he was at guigemp (sp), imo the likes of Yakubu could grow into that level with time, he's proved that he's a consistant player year in year out, he scored goals in the uefa cup and has also scored goals for Nigeria, i'v also just remembered he scored goals in the champions league including a hattrick for that Isreal side he played for before he joined Pompy (unlike Defoe, Nugent or Bent), at only 24 he's done very well imo and no-one knows how he'd do at a club bigger than Pompy and Boro, i think he could make ths step up.
  21. Has Defoe proved he's world class though?, or Bellamy?, what world class striker do you think we could attract Ian?.
  22. err Shearer! Erm he's retired!!, i'm talking about now!!, not 1993, and he also won the title with Blackburn incase you forgot so he wasn't outside the top four for his whole career like Yakubu.
  23. Well as i mentioned he's worked well with a big man like Viduka and i think he could do the same with Carew, i also believe he wouldn't get in a mood if he's rested once or twice so the kids can get a game, he's a laid back kinda guy i hear.
  24. He's been close to the 20 goal mark for both Pompy and Boro, if he plays with a quality side like the one i believe we are building he could really flurish imo, there's not been a more consistant striker outside the big four for me, maybe Defoe is the closest. but Yakubu has also scordd goals on the international stage and in europe too.
  25. Are you serious? , his goal record pisses on every striker we've had at the club since Yorke, he'd be worth every penny imo.
