  1. To be honest though he's their best player by a country mile, so they'll fight tooth and nail to keep the lad so we'd have to pay over the odds, i really don't care about the price because our chairman is filthy rich and we'd be getting a bloody good player who would add another creative spark to the side and take our midfield to top four standards imo,
  2. I'm not sure about the Arteta rumour although no doubt i'd be delighted with that one, but if we're prepard to spend big money on a midfielder then the lad Fernandez is worth a look at imo, Benfica want at least 10m for him and i'm not sure Evernot can reach that high!!.
  3. Sorry. As if it's a full on affair or something!! , and furthermore it's not "bad news", it's bad speculation, nothing is set in stone here, i saw Bellamy all hugged up with Benitez after the Chelsea game so it looks like Mons got competition from Craig's "spanish stud"!! .
  4. I kept my eye on him against Liverpool and he was very impressive, he was up and down that line all night and never really put a foot wrong, depending on his age and the price i think he'd be a very good signing indeed.
  5. i dont agree i think cisse is a good dangerous player on form. id take him I agree, i think he's one of those players that when his manager has faith in him and he's settled he can be a very dangerous player, he's got ten goals in France since he returned from injury which isn't bad and at only 25/26 he can still imrove, every now and then there's a player who everyone doubts can cut it and they surprise you, look how Di'canio turned out for West Ham?, no-one wanted to sign Kanu and look at him this season?, the same thing happened with Crouch too!!, for three and a half million i'd get in there quckly, unless we get a proven player like Bent, Ashton, Yakubu or Defoe then he's a very decent option imo.
  6. I personally think the "everyone will have buckets to spend" talk is a myth, people need to understand that the majority of teams in the premiership are in dept, and furthermore even if most teams were to have funds it doesn't mean they can attract the best players, because the tv money will not mean that all clubs can compete with big wage demands, i remember when Wigan first came up, it was said they had "twenty million to spend" and what happened?, they apparently went in for players but they never had a chance, that's why i'm not worried one bit about this so called "funds" everyone is meant to be getting because it doesn't guarantee anything, As for Barton, that clause will be a big help if we were to go for him, when all the speculation was going on in January i think only Everton and Boro showed an interest and he turned them down already, i can't see him going to a lowly team either so i think we'd have a great chance to be honest, right now we've got the BIG MOmentum on our side and i think everyone is starting to see that.
  7. Exactly sir!!, but it seems certain people are just keen to disagree with Cyber than actually look at what's going on before their very eye's, it's ridiculous.
  8. Talk about the topic, not other posters. Now on the point of Emana, the boy was at Valencia before and Wenger made a bid for him last season but it didn't happen due to work permit problems (which is not a problem now), he's clearly a class player and imo would be a major signing, secondly as i've said a million times Maloney's favorite position is left wing and he won the player of the year award playing there, now you may think he's playing upfront but from what i've seen he's drifting to the left wing and creating chances, he done the same again at City when he beat the full back and cut the ball back but no-one was there to finish it, and furthermore Maloney has played something like seven games?, if he'd played the same amount as Barry this season i'd bet he'd be just as big an "influence" if not a bigger one with his free kick abilitys!!. We've also been linked with Kallstrom and he's another one who is better than Barry.
  9. I agree, every player should have to work hard and perform consistently in order to keep their place. I know Barry will do that however, if we could sign Robben, Alonso and Gattuso then I would happily drop Barry! :winkold: Oh and Maloney is not playing left wing! In your opinion he's not playing left wing but in my opinion he is, get over it!! 8) ps: you can add Muntari and possibly Emana to that list also, because if we get either of those guys then it's highly unlikely that Barry wil continue in the middle of the park.
  10. I am not sure where you have got the impression that people would sell him or make him a scape goat. There is only one poster I know of on this site who would happily see him replaced. I'm sure everyone would like to see him replaced if we could get a better player!! , and to be honest that left wing slot is looking like Maloney's next season the way he's been playing, and if we bring in a another quality central midfielder then Barry is really gonna have to work to keep his place, and that's the way we all should want it instead of worrying about personal favorites.
  11. Well, 'he's being linked' in the same way that everyday we all read dozens of media-froth speculations about player X being pursued by club Y ... most of them are based on little or nothing and are simply efforts to gain attention/readers/viewers. The chances of Berbatov being sold this summer are zero. Spurs are not some struggling, cash-strapped club that needs to keep making profits on player sales in order to survive. On the contrary, we are wealthy club that may well finish 5th for the 2nd season running. Far from selling Berbatov (who is probably one of the five or six best strikers in the whole of Europe), this summer you will see Spurs spending big to significantly strengthen the squad. The player himself is happy and not unsettled (unlike the Carrick situation): he's scored loads of goals and has been voted into the PFA team of the season. He knows that Spurs have top 4 ambitions, can see that we are knocking on the door, knows we have a substantial war-chest to spend this summer and knows we are likely to mount our strongest challenge yet for top 4 next season. Plenty of reasons there to want to remain part of a developing team. His agent says he definitely wants to stay at Spurs next season (and agents are notorious for touting deals if they think it might be a possibility). Apart from anything else, Berbatov is a complicated character. Shows loyalty (he turned down a late offer from Man. U last summer because he'd already given his word to Spurs, despite no signed contract). Reads a lot of books, likes driving around London to explore obscure neighbourhoods, paints pictures for a hobby. Not yer average follow-the-money footballer. Spurs have a contract with Berbatov that runs - should the club so choose - until the summer of 2011. So there is no contract-expiry pressure to sell (unlike the Carrick situation). In the summer of 2008 or 2009, if we haven't made top 4, then maybe Berbatov will be sold. But not now, pretty much regardless of how much dosh is offered. Again you talk is if this "war chest in the summer" is a FACT when you've admitted before it's a RUMOUR, and furthermore you can very easliy finish ninth as well as fifth so nothing is set in stone, do you think you'll be the only one spending this summer?, i can assure you your lot will have us to contend with next season so this so called "banging on the top four" fantasy you've got is not a formality!!, and also Spurs fans were saying the same thing regarding Carrick last summer, how "he's not for sale" even after you had nearly got in the champs league and still he left your arses without hesitation, you need to understand when the top four come calling if the player wants to go HE WILL GO!!, Berbatov is not a fool, who's he more likely to win stuff with Spurs of Manure? , you say you're getting Bent but if i was Jol i'd focus on your defence as its one of the worst in the league.
  12. Or maybe it's that and people's obsession with rating them higher than ourselves for some reason even though we've proved already that we can beat them in a straight fight when we took Ashley FROM THEIR FELLOW LONDON SIDE and bought him to villa park, the fact of the matter is Darren isn't stupid, he'll have Keane breathing down his neck down there and with us he'd be a king so i think we'll get him if Mon wants him. I don't think he would be a king with us. Carew starting seems nailed on and anyone coming in and taking the place of Gabby / Luke will have to perform outstandingly to remove two local lads from the affections of the masses. And because we got ONE player - Ashley - that spurs may have been interested in, doesn't mean that we would get Bent. Oh and Watford aint in London, in fact some days it's probably easier to drive into Brum. If we spent over 12m on him he would be a king!!!, and regardless of who we bring in i don't think the fans would lose their affections for the two young lads!!, they'll still be very much in the plans for where this club is going, and i agree it doesn't mean we would get Bent, but at least we've PROVEN we can beat them when we both go head to head, that was my point.
  13. As I said though, it could signal the sale of Berbatov. Oh well if that occurs Yakubu will still be around :winkold: , or even the fantastic Farfan at PSV who nearly went to Pompy last season for 6m, there's quality out there it's just up to Mon to find it, And on another subject, i was looking at a few Celtic sites to see what they think about us getting Boruc and they are steaming!! lol, many starting to diss Mon now, even after all he did for them, and they've started calling us "Aston celtic" lol, well as long as we keep taking their best players they can call us the "Celtic juniors" for all i care!!, They claim Boruc is the best keeper in the clubs history so he might be something a bit special if we manage to get him.
  14. 15. Is he the new Berson? Well i haven't seen too much of him but no i wouldn't say he's a Berson type, he's much more bigger, faster and physical for s start, Emana is an attacking midfielder who likes to create and score goals which i think would be ideal for our midfield, there's no harm at all in getting more creative players, Wenger has got it spot on when he's signed quality African midfielders from France and even though Djemba-Djemba wasn't what we'd hoped he would be i'm sure that mistake won't happen again with this guy.
  16. A bit more on the link with Emana and this is his own words about his game, he sounds very confident Apparently he's been linked with Arsenal in the past and recently Pompy, Lyon and struggling PSG, he certainly want's to play in the premiership though judging from a few of his interviews i've read so if we are really interested i don't think we'd have any problems.
  17. it was martin o'neill who originally tried to sign him, then he left and strachan continued the deal. i'd take either bellamy or bent, but it will be bellamy we sign so we may as well get use to it IMO interesting to see robbie keane has 21 goals this season, just shows if you give a quality striker plenty of opportunities he will put the ball in the back of the net. judging on tevez's first season in the premiership, i think he could manage 20 goals in a season also, he's had alot of bad luck i.e when the ball hit the inside of the post today, or he could create a lot more goals for someone like gabby not that i think we wil sign him, but i just think he could well get near 20 goals in a season in the future To be honest i wouldn't say it's a done deal yet, even though the link is strong we've also been very strongly linked with Defoe too, to the point where talksport had a show asking callers if he's making the right choice by moving to villa park before the window closed at the start of this season and we were again strongly linked with him in Janaury, and with Defoe coming out and saying he's not happy about being on the bench i'd bet money we'll be linked with him again very soon, the main thing for me is getting a striker who can at least get 15 and over, Defoe and Bent for me would be certs to get there while i'm not so sure about Bellamy, we've got the funds now, we need to be certain we're getting the best we possibly can get.
  18. He's an attacking midfielder, Camaroon international aged 25 and was at Valencia before he went to france, he's scored eight goals this season and has four assists, and judging from this goal he might be a snip  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqwtwKcQMIc and one more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwRhXlxU1-g
  19. Sunday Mirror links us with Bellamy and Boruc again, i think these two are certs to be honest http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=villa-target-craig--%26method=full%26objectid=18984114%26siteid=98487-name_page.html
  20. Looks like Mon's mate Bellamy is certain to leave Liverpool now, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVcGO7mC26Q we've been linked with him so much that i'd be surprised if we don't go in for him, i'd rather Defoe, Bent or Tevez though, or better still keep the kids in.
  21. No he's not as good as them, but that doesn't mean he can't be near their level in the future, the kid is only 21 for god sake and has enough potential for us to take a chance on him, Manure and Arsenal didn't wanna sign him last season for no reason!!.
  22. But he has 14 assists. And has helped an injury-hit side to fourth in the league, not led them to almost certain relegation. But now, now...let's not let facts get in the way of Sid's "argument". What you mean the same "injury hit" side that reached the final of the carling cup and beat Manure home and away and also spanked Liverpool twice away and drew at Stamford bridge?, oh right!!, he's obviously got the worse players in the league around him!!, much lesser skilled players than Reo-coker has too!!.
  23. Three goals against Milan and Roma respectively, 5 assists for the competition....yea, Ronaldo only scores/creates against the shit teams. Ronaldo is one of the best in the world undoubtedly. Reo Coker is little more than average. Ronaldo has already played at two major championships and he was superb at both of them, Reo Coker is still playing for the Under 21's. Laughable comparison. And where's his goals and assists against the other teams in the top four?, and the goal against Milan was a joke as i said before.
  24. But he has 14 assists. That's why i only mentioned his goal record!!
