  1. Could he be thinking of Olly as RB like he plays Internationally? I doubt it to be honest, for me Mellberg never looked completely comfortable playing there at the start of this season, i'd expect a totally new right back and if we do get Distin then Mellberg may well find himself on the bench. which would give us fantastic depth at the back.
  2. I'd be absolutely delighted if we got Distin, for me him and Laursen would be brilliant together in the middle of our defence and it would be nicely balanced, Distin loves to bring the ball out and pass it so he could gel with Laursen very well, as for Gabby, there's no question he's the fastest thing in the league right now and that's a massive weapon imo as defences are simply scared out of their minds to push up, he's proved he can cope on the big stage by scoring at three of the top fours grounds and his last goal against sheff utd indicates that he's learning to create goals for himself, i for one can't wait to see what he does next season, for me he can be better than Bent and Defoe if he keeps progressing.
  3. Nobody has reveled in anything, you have just made that up for wind up purposes. I agree lets carry on but talking about future transfers however, inevitably means you are going to talk about other clubs, i dont see the problem? Forget it, maybe one day you'll understand why Mazrim agrees with me, although i won't be holding my breath!!,
  4. A million times before really? Ok. Stop winding people up Sid and post on this thread about transfers not trying to slyly provoke people! Godforbid the real thing that winds you up is mentioned Wind up?, you have your opinions and i have mine, the difference is i don't revel in raving about a rival club!!!, i'd rather rave about my own thanks ,
  5. why? it doesn't take a genius to see that at present, spurs are a much better side people seem to think that because things are looking up for us, that everythings going to stand still for other teams things are looking up for Spurs just as much as they are looking up for us, but at htis present time they have the much stronger squad, with better players and they are in european competition and are financially much much more well off. They haven't got the greatest manager, but they have plenty of things going for them in order for them to attract the top class players Wasn't aimed at you Sam - aimed at the idiot who wants to tell everyone that he's a better fan than them because he doesn't 'shake his pom-poms' for Spurs, which when translated, means we have two braincells to rub together. Why does peoples noses often end up where they're not needed?, i've often asked that question!!, but that's off topic, let's get back to "subliminal attacks".
  6. laughable tbh are you just here on the wind up? tell me what we can offer Bent over Spurs, other than the better manager, which can easily be changed if Jol has a bad run Nope i'm here because i SUPPORT VILLA, i don't shake pom-poms to the Spurs anthem i'm afraid!!, every post you make on this subject further proves my point. care to expand? To be honest!!, no Just what i expected  your deluded if you think he would automatically join us over spurs, who are basically 2 years ahead of us No i'm not deluded, i'm simply a villa fan, not a Spurs cheerleader!! Your Sid on the windup! Saying another player will join someone else is normal, do you not talk about any other teams? You better not, it means you support them  You might have had a point if you and others hadn't have broke out into delirium a million times before every time the name Spurs was mentioned!! ,

  8. And that my friend is gossip, no matter what way you twist and turn. Gossip. No but haven't you heard TRL?, gossip is now seen as 100% facts apparently!! , i won't even bother asking how he knows Bent "likes Spurs" either as the question will only get answered in vain again.
  9. And people wonder why i think certain members love Spurs!! ,
  10. The media dont know everything you know, especially not until it actually happens. I believe at the moment Bent is fav for Spurs but until he signs anything could happen. You seem to love Spurs so i tend to digress your opinions on this subject. Of course, everyone who doesn't think we're favourites to sign every player under the sun must be an opposition fan  You seem extremely keen on answering CyberV's posts without substance recently  , i wasn't just talking about this debate as there's been other times when certain individuals have praised Spurs to the high heavens at the dispence of their own team.

  12. I've explained in another post a while back why he would fit very well in with the current Spurs set-up (and therefore why Spurs want him), so I won't clog up space by repeating that. In terms of why it's likely, there are several reasons: * Info. from various Spurs sources with a good track record of usually being correct. * He is known to like Spurs a lot * He would probably prefer - all things being equal - to stay in the London area if possible * He would certainly see Spurs as a big step-up in his career so far (which is not to say that he wouldn't regard Villa in similar terms). I'm not saying it's a 100% certainty. But if pushed I'd put it at 90%+. However, if a top 4 club come in for him, then all bets are off, but they'll have to show their hand quickly if so. Your notion regarding Bent is often known as SPECULATION, SPECULATION AND erm.. SPECULATION!!.
  13. It's looking more and more likely that Bent is signing for Spurs, . Does it?, and where's that info come from then?, because the media don't seem to be agreeing with that notion!!
  14. Yeah because one game makes a season!! , he got an assist and had a dominant game last week!!, but you didn't seem to be "coughing" then!!!, Is Milner still "miles ahead" of Wright-phillips?
  15. Well you may be a fan of his but others simply don't hold the same opinion, and at the end of the day i've always held the impression that this is a VILLA forum to discuss VILLA issues first and foremost!!, other fans waxing lyrical about speculative funds is getting a tad tedious now.
  16. This Times article is poorly researched and mostly rubbish. Apart from anything else, it doesn't even say whether or not the predicted figures relate to net spending (i.e. money spent after subtracting money received from player sales). Let's take the case of W.Ham, for example. Sure they now have a wealthy owner, but they've already spent a load on new players in January in their desperate efforts to stay up, to say nothing of the huge wages they've committed themselves to in the case of several of their new signings. They've also just been fined 6m by the FA over the Tevez and Mascherano 'registrations'. And on top of that they'll receive something like 6m less than Spurs (for example) in league prize money due to their final finishing place (if they stay up). Yet despite all this, and the despite the fact that Spurs have had a bumper income this season from all their cup runs (TV money, gate receipts etc.) and have a big wadge of cash saved up from their low net spending during the last 5 transfer windows, we're supposed to believe that W.Ham will spend perhaps three times as much as Spurs this summer (10m versus 30m) as we push for top 4 next season. It just doesn't add up. Here's another example of why the article is largely nonsense in the article: It's very likely that Spurs will shortly (next couple of weeks) finalise a deal for Younes Kaboul (a French U-21 centre-back from Auxerre) for 7 - 7.5m. So that's possibly 70 - 75% of our summer budget gone already if you believe the times article. Sunderland to spend 30m? I strongly doubt that. Derby (Birmingham, W.Brom etc.) to spend 3 times the small amount that Portsmouth can supposedly only afford? Portsmouth now also have a wealthy owner, so it doesn't seem very likely. I'm not saying that all the figures in the article are wide of the mark (from what I read on this board it seems that your wealthy new owner will spend big this summer, so maybe the 40m for Villa is correct - I wouldn't know), but a lot of the figures seem to me like they've plucked out of the air with very little substance to back them up.. Looks like someones cage has been rattled , and there you go again talking as if this supposed "spending spree" you keep banging on about is a fact when it's speculation at best, who should people believe?, a Spurs fan who thinks the gossip of "people in the know" is 100 percent truth or a sports writer who's most likely had contact with the clubs he's written about?, that's a tough one  , our board has come out and been brave by putting their necks on the line and told us we'll be spending big this summer!!, what's yours done?.
  17. Best striker in europe at a mid table premiership side? it really is silly season Far from best striker in Europe this season, and with his behaviour his reputation has suffered. Again remember the Zola move to Chelsea. Yes he is the best striker in europe and you comparing Zola to Etto is not valid as Zola was coming towards the end of his career when he moved to Chelsea and managed to keep himself fit enough to stay longer than anyone expected, Etto is at his prime and to be honest i can't see him leaving Barca anyway, it's been proved this season that when Barca are without him they are not the same threat.
  18. I agree Sam, it's been in the paper this morning that they can't afford to pay 12m for him, he's said that he want's to stay in England and i hope Mon has looked at him, i personally think the price we paid for Young would get him.
  19. I hear Everton can't afford the price tag of Fernandes so he's up for grabs and for me if we can't get Nasri then we must look at him, and i'm not just saying that because he scored that cracker against Manure it's his all round game that impresses me, he's got lovely skills on the ball and can pass it well too and at 21 he'll only get better.
  20. I saw the highlights of the Monaco match that Mon was apparently at and i must say if he was watching Nasri then we'll certainly be making a move for him imo, he was absolute class, he set up the first goal with a lovely pass and was pulling the strings in the middle of the park, he also hit the post with a brilliant shot, Yaya Toure also impressed too and set up the Monaco goal with a nice pass. both players would be very good signings for our midfield especially Nasri.
  21. Apparently he's only 19 my friend!! , which i'm shocked about because he's been around for a few years, he's been linked with a few big clubs in the past but no-ones made their move yet, i think if we put in a decent offer we'd have a very good chance as the kid has said already that he want's to play in the premiership.
  22. For me Nasri would be an absolute class signing, he's a Berger/Merson type of player with pace and good skills, i think he'd fit right into our midfield and take it up a notch, i think he's one of those players that could turn into a real star with a little time and experiance, getting young talented players like Nasri and Young is the way forward and i'm glad Mon see's it like that too. A vid of Nasri http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbjYyikbUew&mode=related&search=
  23. Nope Nugent didn't score today it was Gareth Whaley, and ever since he got the call up he's been very poor, his finishing has been garbage, i can't believe there was even a debate the other day about if he was a better player than Gabby!!
