If you'd prefer Randy to rush into appointing a manager, without identifying and interviewing other candidates, then yes there's no excuse. Thankfully our chairman has a bit more about him and will make an informed decision once he knows what options are available and what they can bring to the table. Getting the right man in, regardless of their current employment status, will take time. Sorry but I don't go with this have to take time bullshit. It was 22 days from when MON left to the end of the transfer window. There are four board members, lets say for example they are the only people working on this. 22 days, circa 3 weeks. 5 working days. I work 9 hours a day at least. Say they only do 6. That's 90 hours. 4 people working (for example), then that's 360 man hours. I'd say that's more than plenty of time to make an informed decision.

If we're going for a manager not currently in a job. There is no excuse for why they couldn't have been in to conduct transfer business. The only reason (that isn't conspiring that it was deliberate) is that there seems to be people in charge they have a lot of experience in business. But absolutely no-one in charge that knows football. Unless you count the life president, who has tons of experience getting new managers.

You're right about not wanting a manager at another club, but a player at another club is fine. Also you'll find that most good managers will already be in work.

And they are the backbone of a strong premiership side.
