A good little workout, Downing was unlucky at the end but if we start the season with a win pre-season results will be forgotten. Nice to see the youngsters getting more of a run out, slight concerns over the fitness of the back four though with Dunne going off at half time following Collins and Cuellar's pre-season niggles. Where was Curtis Davies, is he not fit either?

It harsh writing Downing off after one injury affected season. Some might have written Milner off based on his first season out on the wing.

Hate to say I told you so but weeks ago when they announced Dowd was the ref I posted my misgivings. He was totally out of his depth and should never have been anywhere near a major final. The only refs qualified for these occasions are those on the Fifa elite refs panel Howard Webb and Mike Deane.
