Respect to Brighton. They are a damn good team. Can do without all their whining

Mental from West Ham. Helps having those dinosaur managers like Moyes around who make daft moves like that and give us money.
Ings hasn't seen too much playing time, so not sure it was entirely Moyes decision. Their board might have put pressure on Moyes to take him. At the time Moyes was on thin ice and was close to potentially getting the sack.

I think Brighton will be a tougher fixture than some are giving credit for, they have been excellent all season and are high in confidence and will want to finish the season off in style. It also seems like more than wishful thinking to suggest they’re going to rest all of their best players as some sort of gift to other clubs who want to take their best players off them
I am thinking deals are close to being agreed for the likes of Mac Allister. Would they want to risk losing 60M by playing him against us?

By the way - anyone thinking it's better not to be in Europe, that is not just a bad take but basically wrong. Moving forward clubs will earn money from UEFA based on their coefficient points, therefore it is vital for Villa to start accumulating these points by playing European games. For example, if Villa and West Ham both qualify for the UCL - as it stands right now, West Ham would earn much more than us because they have accumulated more coefficient points.

That Bobby Firmino goal yesterday closed the door on our glimmer of any hope for top 6.
Yeah - forget the Wolves game. We were in it for 6th until the 89th minute yesterday.

Brighton wouldn't want any of their prized assets getting injured in a meaningless game for them. I can see the likes of Mac Allister and Caicedo sitting the game out.
I envision one of Brentford (Man City will be focused on UCL) or Spurs (Leeds are a basket case) winning on the final day, thus bottom line we need to win.
As for the Conference League, it is less competitive than the UEL and thus will allow us to give more playing time to our youth and fringe players. Could be valuable for the likes of Archer, A. Ramsey, Coutinho ...

Getting rid of Danny Ings in January was an amazing bit of transfer business for us. He is absolutely done as a player. We’d have been saddled with his wages dragging down our ffp but fortunately he’s just doing it to West Ham instead now. More brilliance from our manager.
Alemany type move by the Villa!

Not consistant enough to be a regular starter and some of the poor decisions he makes is concerning. Still has a role in the overall squad.

Beat Brighton we get europe.
Leeds beat Spurs we get europe.
I'd say our chances are better than 50% which is great considering how low we were all feeling after the Wolves result.
Not quite. Brentford could still qualify if they beat Man City at home.

We can but would need to win by about 20 goals .
actually just 8 or 9 goals

Not greedy for Europa League. Rather Brighton secure qualification before playing us. Final game will then be a throw-away and they may even give fringe players playing time.

Also super excited about next year. We'll be so much stronger when we upgrade on the likes of Bailey and Buendia.

More than happy with the point. Now we have several permutations to get into Europe including holding the keys in our hands.
-
Need to get Bailey off. Such a liability!!!
-
Great half. They have not troubled us. Liverpool's strategy is to just beat our highline and we've been ready for it.

Will be interesting to see how much Alemany gets for him.

Thumbs up for the streamers on the Holte end on Saturday.
Only one thing wrong, and I speak from experience from the "balloon" era in the late 1970's early 1980's, that the streamers should have been saved until the team took to the pitch before the start...
A case of "premature streaming".......
when did fans throw them?

Any Villa fan who hated him ain't really a Villa fan at heart. Just saying.
Never hated McGinn, but certainly questioned whether he was "good enough".

I'd be furious if I were a Spurs supporter. Players seem not to care.

Feel he will go to Manchester United for around 80M.

I think if it’s to a Champ club he’s probably going to go for about £7m. But who knows… somewhere between £3m and £20m depending who you ask!
Unless he goes to a side relegated from the Premier League, we won't get anything for him. Championship clubs don't spend money on transfers anymore.

Good news hopefully he can grow our commercial revenue overseas. US is a huge market and we have the links there to get a big slice of it.
Wrexham and Ted Lasso just further boosting the PL brand there. V Sports need to think big now
Reality check is that international revenues, like sponsorship, is really concentrated around the very top clubs. Until we start winning trophies or have a player that really drives a market (like Son at Spurs who is massive in Korea and Asia) any additional international revenues will be incremental and not transformative.

35 of our 46 goals this season have come since Emery was appointed, and 4 of them came when Danks was manager, we only scored 7 in Gerrard's 11 games.
All Emery's teams that he's managed have been amongst the highest scorers in their league, so low scoring isn't something he has a reputation for, or if he does he shouldn't.
Good to know and glad my perception is off.

Not sure if the numbers back me up, but it seems to me that Emery's system is not geared to score a ton of goals. It's more to create a few big changes, capitalize on them and shut shop.

Currently lacks that extra intensity and quality the rest of the squad seems to have. Seeing how others have transformed under Emery, I'm not writing him off, but really needs to show much more to remain in the squad.
