He's a decent player but not quick or physical enough for the Premier League. He'd neat and tidy but can you really see him displacing the likes of Kamara and Luiz? That's the level he needs to punch at to get regular games at Villa.
This is how Cameron Archer comes across at Sheffield United - a step slow and lacking physicality. Premier League is a different level.

Championship level is so much lower than PL as shown by the excellent promoted teams really struggling this season. So while JPB is playing well doesn’t mean he’s a top 4 quality player.
Both Eze and Olise came from weak Championship sides

Eze or Olise for me. Both would add something attacking wise and both would be a better option than Zaniolo, who has disappointed me.
Other than that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Last thing we need is 2 or 3 coming in and having to 'adapt' to Emery and how we play. Only option on that front is Unai brings in players who know his ways inside out - like Moreno & Pau - who will take little time to settle.
Just bring Philogene back.

Key to his turnaround this season is his confidence and directness. Been a sensation so far with a huge increase in goal contributions. Great to see, really pleased for him
Fact that there is less pressure on him due to the signings of Diaby and Zaniolo I feel helped.

Spurs are rapid though ain't they?
Shows we need some more of our own
They play that way, we don't

Cash has to come off at the start of the 2nd half. Leaving him on will be suicidal.
Hopefully the lack of press by us in the first half means we have more energy than Spurs second half.

Gotta hope they tire out
It's the only tactic that we seem to have

Villa were humming right along, why change it?
One of my Arsenal mate's complaint about Emery was that he used to needlessly change tactics from one game to another.

Emery's got his tactics totally wrong. The soft press is allowing Spurs to pick us apart

This kid is the truth. Ill be gutted if he isnt with us next season

I'd have Tammy back for 16m
Our scouting department can do better.

The pressure is off of him now, so he's performing much better

Same McGinn who 13 months back we thought was not good enough for the PL. Amazing what Unai has done.

Arguably the worst we have played all season. Loads of possession but way too pedestrian.
That's part of our style, no?

Essentially Zaniolo took his spot. We went for experience over youth. Hope we don't come to regret it.

I remember just after Lerner bought the club that there was some talk circulating that a rebrand of Villa would include more reference to Birmingham and it may be incorporated somehow into our name. It was quickly dismissed! Would have been a bigger PR disaster than the Leeds bicep badge.
Wasn't that some silly politician's idea? Don't think it originated from the club or supporters.
-
Seems like a technical partnership. Nothing to get overly excited about unless we see Rakuten (parent company of Vissel) sponsoring Villa.

What are these illegal platforms they're betting on? Why aren't they using bet365 or whatever? Because they're betting thousands at a time?
I had a friend that worked at one of the major high street bookmakers. He told me VIP clients would actually bet on adjacent website/apps set up by the bookmakers that offered more attractive odds and higher limits.

Realistically now where do we improve?
Watkins, Diaby, Kamara, Luiz, McGinn, Konsa, Pau and Emi Martinez are all nailed in our team.
You could also say Ramsey and Moreno are pretty much nailed once back.
That leaves RB. Cash is doing well this season!
So for me we need to sign players with potential. To be potentially world class and replace our current crop on a a few years.
Whatever positions we were weakest at against Newcastle and Liverpool

Staunchly against the star but if 85% of the fan base want it, then I'll learn to live with it.

I think we are gradually reaching the stage, where its hard to find players better, than what we have.....the pool is shrinking.
Our judgement has to be spot on, to ensure they are better than we already have.
and we have to be sure, we know what "better" means.
More Consistent......More Effective......More Aggresive.....More Pace.....More heading ability.....more intelligence.....more ball control.
?
It means three things - upgrading on fringe players (Chambers, Traore), inconsistant ones (Bailey) and those that don't suite Emery's system (Digne). Beyond that, it would require bringing in world class players - as the only players better than the likes of Watkins, McGinn, Konsa, etc. would have to be in that category.

You can basically tell by the cross-pollination of the different Villa podcasts who the top villa podcasters/commentators are. I've basically narrowed it down to about 4-5 top ones.

Feel we should have an alternate AV or V logo that would appear on the back of shirts, hats, etc. Believe a Villan mascot would be fun too - certainly pretty unique in the footballing world.

Moreno has looked lively but in reality is playing poorly. Cash offers little as a wingback. Hope to see Bailey in soon.
