I think we miss that extra man in midfield and if Tielemans has 45 in him, I'd have him on now for one of Bailey or Diaby. We probably also miss Pau Torres ability to get the ball into that extra midfield man. As it is, this one is pretty even, we've looked good when we've been able to get the ball down, but we need a little bit more control.

Can’t keep saying “we miss X player”. We have a squad of quality players. They have to set it up against the likes of Everton.

Curious to know who " Balabans Boot cleaner " is now.

His previous posts were mocking fans that were upset about the consultation process, so he does not seem to be some neutral observer.

The badge certainly looks much better than what was initially leaked, but as others have said - not sure if it will have a similar appearance on social media, etc.

The thing about this design is that, even if there was something else I preferred, this one captures something that Heck’s doesn’t.  It’s hard to put into words.  The claret on blue, the gold border and the lovely shape.

Heck's design is not about taste.  The design is fundamentally flawed (as was the original Lerner badge). That's what has so many fans aghast.

Yes. Because that's his job and despite NS being here for 4 years we've got a dodgy Castore deal?

or it could be like the Gerrard/ Emery situation where NS felt he needed to step in given the Castore debacle and seeing that he finally had a strong hand to play based on Villa’s on the field performance and star power (Emery, Martinez, Lehman..)

anyone seen what the deal is worth?

Presume the contract models for the likes of  Arsenal and ManUtd are different than Fulham and Forest. Given our trajectory and Sawiris’ involvement hopefully ours will be in the mold of the former - though obviously proportionate to the size of the fanbase.

    Yep there's your sad reality

We are not the target audience of all these changes

Please let’s not buy the narrative that this badge is done with the international fan in mind.  I belong to 5 different Asian and North American Villa forums/chat groups and the great majority in each forum despise the leaked badge.

“International audience” is a convenient excuse football owners/administrators use when they screw up these days. I recall the Arsenal owner saying they initially joined the Super League because that is what the majority of international Arsenal fans wanted. I actually know quite a few international Arsenal fans including two who are fan club chapter presidents and they all pretty much hated the idea of the Super League.

And if used with some nice toys as a wider brand identity, it could be alright...ish. (Don't have to agree they're nice, it's just a principle.) God I need some sleep

Seeing these mockups makes the leaked badge even more infuriating.  The level of amateurism is utterly shocking.

I agree with the limitations that you’ve highlighted but surely the brief that you would give the designers - in addition to the specifics re lion etc etc - is create something that is scalable and practical but with a required level of elegance and class. It’s then their job to come up designs to meet the brief.

It clearly must not have been in the brief at all.

If this is the badge, no way a proper agency was involved. It’s what is infuriating those of us with a branding background. It’s just so sloppy and amateurish.

The round badge got a mixed reaction. This is basically universally disliked. What a complete disaster it will be if this is correct.

The mixed reaction for the round badge were some feeling it was not bold enough and others not liking the lion facing right.  The design itself was not really questioned unlike the latest one which is totally flawed.

  10. Most of us accept there will be difference in taste.  i did not like the result of the Purslow badge but at least it was professionally done (by the agency Dragon Rouge) and I was accepting of it.

The problem many of us had with the original Lerner badge and  now  the Heck badge is they clearly have design flaws that leads one to believe they were not professionally done (probably dictated to an in house graphic designer instead - who would likely not have a comprehensive background in branding or merchandising). That is utter incompetence for a badge that will projected across the globe and on thousands of pieces of merchandise.

one other note - Ive seen some utter nonsense online by defenders of Heck that this logo was designed with the Asian audiences in mind, etc. - thus the golden lion…I am on several Asian Villa chat groups and the leaked logo has been universally panned in those groups.

Hospitality is rammed and you can't get a seat for love nor money. I tried to get some extra for the Fulham game and was told there were hundreds of people with their name on the waiting list.

My family is coming over from California and I have hospitality for Sheffield United and Burnley matches and  I was surprised how easy it was to secure. I did reserve it 3-4 months in advance - so both our experiences could be true.

He's a decent player but not quick or physical enough for the Premier League.  He'd neat and tidy but can you really see him displacing the likes of Kamara and Luiz? That's the level he needs to punch at to get regular games at Villa.

This is how Cameron Archer comes across at Sheffield United - a step slow and lacking physicality. Premier League is a different level.

Championship level is so much lower than PL as shown by the excellent promoted teams really struggling this season.  So while JPB is playing well doesn’t mean he’s a top 4 quality player.

Both Eze and Olise came from weak Championship sides

  14. 4 hours ago, UpTheVilla26 said:

Eze or Olise for me. Both would add something attacking wise and both would be a better option than Zaniolo, who has disappointed me.

Other than that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Last thing we need is 2 or 3 coming in and having to 'adapt' to Emery and how we play. Only option on that front is Unai brings in players who know his ways inside out - like Moreno & Pau - who will take little time to settle.

    Just bring Philogene back.

Key to his turnaround this season is his confidence and directness.  Been a sensation so far with a huge increase in goal contributions.  Great to see, really pleased for him

Fact that there is less pressure on him due to the signings of Diaby and Zaniolo I feel helped.
