  1. We look dangerous up front with Gabby, Young and Carew. Think we will get a couple of goals in the second half.
  2. Nice work from Petrov, both the pass to Carew and then when he won the ball and had the assist.
  3. Ah, a chance to post the Swedish midsummer party commercial that was banned by the IKEA headquarter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I5BGsK5ZAU
  4. 56-60 is very realistic, but hope for more.
  5. Any 'slagging' off for someone having an opinion will be banned from this website    That was my quote, and I honestly missed out on an important word "don't" should been in the sentence. That was what I should have written. Maybe a freudian slip? But tbh if you see the sentence in the context of what I wrote in the post, I hope you see what I mean.
  6. You make some good points, even though I have quite different opinions regarding the frustration. But everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I really hope the optimists here slag off the frustrated people when we see the result of the transfer window. Going into the third day of the transfer window I can't wait to see what's happening this week.
  7. I think this post can be interesting when to look back at now when we are waiting to find out who we gonna sign.
  8. Randy Lerner and Aston Villa are following a long term plan. Some of the important things in this plan is to increase the number of sold season tickets (which can create the need for an increase in the seats at Villa Park) and increase the revenue from products like shirts. Lerner will also bring in high class footballers that can make the team a top 5 team and the enthusiasm they will bring will hopefully increase both the number of sold season tickets, shirts and etc. The club has also improved and raised the professionalism, thus they will not go out and say what players they are after (thank God for that). Now think about it for a moment. In what way will they create the biggest buzz pre season that get the season tickets up to the highest number and makes a lot of people buy the new shirts, thus securing revenues through the season even if we should get into trouble before christmas? I think the answer is simple. Keep it quiet when we are working with new players, and present several big names when we have signed them when we unveil the new shirt. This will clearly be the best for the club when looking at the long term plan. Please keep up the professional work, Lerner and O'Neill. Don't let irrational people like me, that would love to see a signing and a name asap, change the policy that is the best for the club, long term wise.
  9. Then i think he is crazy as Bent is younger, less injuryt prone and doesn't like clobbering his team mates with a golf club. Well, we actually have a player that knocked the same Riise unconscious that has improved his behaviour dramatically the last few years. Might as well happen with Bellamy too.
  10. I see that TRL, and will end the discussion. Just a suggestion in a transfer thread that so far is lacking a lot of real news
  11. Only 7 of them, I think. I agree that Gabby has played well with Carew and I have not at all tried to say that ha has not had the understanding with Carew. Its just that the Solskjær-Carew link is a lot better.
  12. He has an extraordinary good partnership with Carew which is a LOT better than what I have seen Gabby has. He makes Carew A LOT better than when Carew plays alone or with Gabby. He would be the best finisher we have had since Yorke. Hell, maybe he even can learn Carew to become a good finisher. It will give Gabby a great opportunity to improve and become a very good striker.
  13. Regarding Gabby and his development if we sign a superstar up front, I have two things to say: He will get his chances as there are no way John Carew will be free of injuries There is another option though, and that is to sign a good finisher that is here for the short term. I am actually thinking of Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Why? 1) He is a true professional and will be a model for the young lads (Gabby, Young etc.) 2) He will be the best finisher this club has had since Yorke 3) His understanding and play with Carew in the national team has been superb, and he actually makes Carew a better player than when Carew is on his own or with another striker 4) He is old and will need to rest quite a few matches. This will let Gabby and Moore play matches and they will continue the development. Then we can see where we stand in a year with Gabby or if we need a super striker that will keep Gabby on the bench forever (if he has not developed). Remenber how much a player can develop in a short time (Gabby and Bouma this season and Hitz in Stuttgart after he left us), and if we do this the right way maybe Gabby or Moore will be our "new" super striker. I think we should spend heavily on defenders and midfielders and Boruc this summer.
  14. This is hysterical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU7j0opefo8
  15. Yeah, true regarding the player by player basis. And if MON splash big money I will trust his judgement and give both him and his signings time until next christmas. Then I probably feel its the right time to give a verdict. But until that I am sceptical to "over priced" and young domestic players (as I also am with my team here in Norway).
  16. I am not assuming that. But lets say there is a certain percentage chance that it is the case, then I believe that percentage should be discounted to the price. Specially when we know there are so much talent available in the European transfer markets at affordable prices.
  17. Problem is that England U21 does not mean he will have a bright future. He has had a half premiership season where he has been good, but we have seen this many times with many players before. I am not saying that he will be crap, but I just think its a gamble that is too big with the ridiculous prices that is quoted in the papers. Remember that Whittingham has 15 U21 caps, compared with Young's 4. History is full of U21 players that failed and never became more than Championship material. History is also full of young kids that impress in their Premier League debut season, but soon fade away into the Championship.
  18. In my view, the transfer window starts in five days. I think its foolish to believe that there will be a lot of big signings and transfers until we get into the last third of the window. Only thing that I am not happy about is that we have not gone after John Carew. 4 mill ponds for such a proven Champions League striker is certainly worth a shot, specially when I think he is the strong, pacey type of player that I suspect suits MON's football.
  19. The story is about a power battle at Chelsea and says that Mourinho might quit during the summer. I found the quoted sentence over interesting. Here is the article http://tinyurl.com/ynhfhb
  20. Ogbuke will be massive in Premier League. Maybe the best player that ever has been in the Norwegian Tippeligaen (I think even better than John Carew was when he was here). I think Wigan have made som good signings this winter at low prices (though I would prefer better midfielders than Hæstad at Villa). And even though Daniel Braaten is very up and down, I would really hope that someone at Villa would take a look at him. He has under 1 year left at his Rosenborg contract and would probably come for max 2-3 million pounds.
  21. It seems like Ogbuke is headed to one of the big clubs: http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/premiership/article2125346.ece "Premiership sides were put on alert yesterday following the collapse of the proposed £3m move to Lokomotiv Moscow for Lyn Oslo's Nigeria striker Edu. Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal had all been tracking Chinedu Ogbuke - nicknamed Edu after the former Gunners midfielder, and the 20-year-old was yesterday reported to be heading to England for a trial, although the collapse of a proposed move to Arsenal before Christmas due to work permit problems may discourage English interest."
  22. Winger? Daniel Braaten from Rosenborg. Pace, strenght and good finishing. He is a winger in a team that plays 4-3-3 and will be a hit when he join a Premier League club. Some Braaten moments: There are a lot of quality players available. But the question is do we manage to find them. I would be disappointed if we sign Smith. I think Chinedu Ogbuke (best player that ever has played in the Norwegian league, better than Carew and Solskjær when they were here and WAY better than Mikel, who joined Chelsea) would be a quality signing up front. Marek Sapara from Rosenborg would also be a quality signing in the midfield.
