  1. I'm afraid that whoever gets in won't make a scrap of difference. It all just boils down to who's the biggest rocket polisher out of Brown and Cameron. Brown's an incompetent buffoon who shouldn't be in charge of a corner shop. Cameron's a smarmy git who should be in charge of an advertising agency. The country is buggered either way.
  2. I voted for the longer sentence option. They knew exactly what they were doing, even at 10 years old. 20 years would have been more like it.
  3. Actually the country is a safe place for your children, providing you're there to protect them from things like this. Bulgers mother wasn't, and I suspect that behind all the bitterness and anger towards the killers she feels a ton of guilt too. The one thing about this case that amazes me is that a tiny child was allowed to wander off with 2 total strangers without the parent(s) noticing. Could that happen to your child, do you think? That's really harsh in my opinion. It's hardly neglect of Gerry and Kate McCann proportions to lose sight of your child in a shop for a few seconds. I don't doubt that she feels incredibly guilty about it every day of her life.
  4. You make some pertinent points, but not this one I'm afraid. A child dying is one thing, but to know your child died in those circumstances? Saying "let go" doesn't really seem appropriate if I'm honest.
  5. From what I've read about the case, Venables and Thompson, although not having fantastic home lives, were probably no worse off than thousands of kids from poor Liverpool familes at the time.
  6. Agreed. Got both this and Adventureland on Blu-Ray. I enjoyed them both and don't care if they are supposed to be aimed at women. I think both films are for both men and women, so there! No way is (500) Days of Summer a chick flick, no way at all. I enjoyed it more than my wife for a start! But then, it did have references to Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths and Spearmint....
  7. She is, and in fact, she's going to have take out a injunction against me as I intend to stalk her for the rest of her life! That film contains one of the best lines from a film ever, so I've taken the liberty of using it as my signature. I think only me and Nayson on here would have got what he was on about.
  8. Just watched "500 Days of Summer". Thought it was going to be a crappy chick flick, but it's absolutely superb, one of the best films I've seen in a long, long time.
  9. Would that not fall into the 'finishing top seven with a good cup run' option then? I know top 7 doesn't guarantee you entry into Europe but it's likely each season that the League Cup and FA Cup will be won by members of the top 6 in the Prem, hence 7th qualifies for Europe? Purely because 7th doesn't guarantee it. Exactly. For 7th to get a Europa spot the League Cup winners AND both FA Cup finallists would have to finish in the top 6.
  10. The only time I remember being MC'd was one raid to Molten Core where I was MC'd into the lava. I'd run in naked though, so it was no biggy.
  11. 7th can't be considered a success can it? Considering that our cup runs have seen us beat Cardiff, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Blackburn (x2), Brighton and Palace so far, we'd have to win the FA Cup in my opinion for it to be considered any sort of success, especially as if we don't we won't qualify for Europe if we finish 7th.
  12. Now that the League Cup has gone, either the FA Cup, or 5th place and above. No cups and 7th place = time for a rethink at the top I reckon.
  13. Messing around in WoW is good.
  14. You wish. Firstly, at your current rate of levelling, your priest won't be ready for raids until some point in the year 2,234, and secondly, even if it was, when people die in raids, they will blame you and call you names. It's the law! Actually, being a girl would have saved you, as all the WoW geeks would have harboured secret desires to see your lady parts and then gone easy on you, but seeing as you're going out with Trim, they'll resent you even more!
  15. It's handy when levelling up though. I was a healer for three years as a shaman, then changed to melee when WOTLK came out. As a shaman, it's great to be able be all three classes (ie caster, healer and melee) and do them well. One thing though Laura, if you're in dungeons and raids, healers get ALL the blame when things go wrong, so as a sensitive sort, you may want to bear that in mind!
  16. I'd go for a shaman or druid if I were you Laura, then you have the ability to melee as well as heal. And they're more fun than a priest.
  17. Get your main to L80 first!
  18. I think it's actually a lot easier to change domicile between states in the US, than from the UK. Isn't it the case that you'd only retain Massachusetts domicile if you retain property there? Which really, wouldn't be diffferent from anywhere else.
  19. And "Why did the architect have his house made backwards? So he could watch TV!"
  20. At birth (which is 'domicile of origin') , from your father's domicile if your parents are married, or from your mother if they're not. So you could be born in England, but have a Scottish domicile of origin if your dad is domiciled in Scotland. 'Domicile of choice' is when you choose to reside permanently in another country, and show beyond reasonable doubt that you do not intend to move back. In practice this is exceedingly hard to do, but not apparently, if you're a loaded Tory! I'm actually studying this for my Chartered Institute of Taxation exams, so this is all good revision!
  21. Partly for the reason that Gringo has mentioned. I object to anyone being a legislator in this country who is domiciled in another country (especially if it is a purely self-interested ruse). That's fair enough, but domicile is a weird thing. It basically goes off your father's domicile when you're born, and is incredibly hard to change thereafter. I know of cases where people have tried to change their domicile because they have lived away from the UK for 20 years or more, and they've still lost when they've tried to change domicile because of something trivial like visiting a relation once a year. I'd be interested to know how Ashcroft came to be domiciled in Belize.
  22. I don't have a problem with non doms like Ashcroft or the Labour peers at all. As long as people are paying UK tax on their UK income, then how they organise their business affairs elsewhere in the world is entirely up to them. But then, I am particularly interested in relieving HMRC of as much money as possible (in an entirely legitimate sense).
