  1. This is a little high and mighty, Malc. People who take offense at your "Muppet"/"Tic Tac"/whatever remarks are not necessarily those who "know nothing of the ins and outs of a soccer club" - and it is your lumping them into this basket (usually because of a difference of opinion) that gets them upset. I know of no test or exam which determines which fans know more about football than others. That being the case, you must look at other posters on this board as peers - not lessers - and accept that they may have a differing opinion that is just as well thought out as your own.
  2. And therein lies the key. With no more injuries or long suspensions, we will not even be close to a relegation scrap, IMO. However, if a few key players missing.... Still, if I was a betting man (and I'm not) I'd put money on Villa finishing well above the relegation places.
  3. Would that not need to be annoinced to the stock exchange? Seeing as the club announced that they were 'in a bid stuation' No. The offer is from AVIL - the Comers are just their backers. As such, they could have walked out from the deal, leaving AVIL desperately looking for financial backing while still having tabled an offer. AVIL don't have to inform the stock exchange of anything until they give up finding support and withdraw the offer. So ahamaad is right - the offer is still there. Whether it comes to anything or not, who knows?
  4. Get Rid - but only when the takeover happens and we can afford a better replacement.... ... so I guess we keep him then. :|
  5. Dunno about that. Assuming the only assets to strip are the land we own, they wouldn't get a return on their 64mill investment if they asset stripped. So what's the point of that? Having said that - does a football club need to own land? If it was a source of income (which it isn't currently), then fine - but our main source of income remains winning things on the pitch. If we sold off all the assets to bolster our squad and win some things, I wouldn't mind one bit.
  6. Stinking ManUre by a large glory-hunting cowpat.
  7. Err..... isn't AVIL the group that's doing the bidding? That is, Michael Neville, not the Comers. He seems to want to take over the club and apparently will look to other investors if the Comers pull out. As such, you won't get an announcement until - like Ranson - he gives up (fails to find backing) and walks away. If the Comers do pull out, I'd be surprised if Neville could find other investors. After all, if Ranson couldn't find them for 45mill when we were 6th.....
  8. What smoke screen? And why is it Neville who needs to make a statement? The article correctly states: Hello Doug? Are you there? What's happening?
  9. So, they are saying they are serious (perhaps looking for fan support?) .... ... with a get out clause in case it all (inevitably?) goes sour.
  10. I think you're getting them confused with Coldplay. :winkold:
  11. Downloaded their first 4 albums about a month ago and have them on all day during work (headphones) since. Awesome. Every song is good, with some real standouts. Rock and Roll, dude!
  12. 34, married for 11 years and 3 kids under 5
  13. Brave words? For stating the fact that 4 of our first 5 batsmen where given out LBW by the same umpire in the first innings? Or from saying that your top 5 batsmen for that innings suffered a different fate, including being bowled (read: stumps scattered)?
  14. Mwahahahaha!! You're having a lend, aren't you Nick? In our first innings, 4 of our top 5 batsmen were given out LBW (the other one a dodgy catch, but that's by the by).... and none of them by Billy Bowden. And we have 1 in about 5 genuine, have we? No, I think you'll find your top order usually has the stumps scattered. :winkold:
  15. Oh come now! You pommies will find any reason to whinge, wontcha? :winkold: Personally, I like the way the crowd cheers when an Australian batsmen gets hit with a short ball, but ohhh, ahhh and boooo when we do it. As for dubious catches - anybody for a dubious LBW? You seem to get the majority of your wickets this way - though Billy Bowden is not usually the one fooled.
  16. I honestly don't think you have much to worry about. We are witnessing the end of an era in cricket.... ... and possibly the beginning of another one - yours.
  17. The Forecast is GOOD Never said it wasn't...... ... though a GOOD forecast must be cause enough for celebration for you lot. It's a bit like a blue moon, innit? :winkold: I repeat, ONLY your notoriously bad weather will save Australia in this test. Shame that wont happen.
  18. Dunno, ED. You've done your best to hash up the last 2 tests from easy winning positions. What makes you think 100 will be easy for you? :winkold: Seriously - only your notoriously bad weather will save Australia in this test. What I would'nt give for an Aussie batsman in form! Not one of them is any good at the mo. Hayden - who are ya? Clarke - where are you? And don't start going on about England's "world class" bowlers. Yes, they have been bowling well, but if they were world class you wouldn't struggle to get Lee, Warne and McGrath out in a test match as you have in the last 2.5 tests.
  19. Eating dinner or watching the test live on free-to-air TV..... .... unless they are meant to be working on their computers
  20. That I cannot argue with. There is still time for him to turn it around.... ... but that would require him to stop being a chav off the field. Can't see that happening, sadly.
  21. Why is it that people are quick to point out he was playing well before he got a contract.... ... while conveniently forgetting that his form slump coincided with McCann being injured? No no. He only plays well when a contract is due.
  22. Hendrie.... blah blah.... potential.... blah blah.... goes missing .... blah blah.... too old ... blah blah. Hendrie scored more than Davis last year. Hendrie created more than Davis last year. Hendrie linked better with Angel (and Vassell) better than Davis last year. Hendrie struggled without McCann in the side last year. So did Davis. So what has changed this year? Nothing - only that Davis is being given his chance. He is still not the quality we get from Hendrie. End of.
  23. Heh heh.. I can see it now: Opposition Defender 1: "Mark the one with the Alice band." Opposition Defender 2: "But there's 3 of them!" :winkold: (Berger, in case you were wondering)
