  1. Excellent news. I'm really excited about this one! Looking forward to seeing him running at defenders and banging in some FKs. Him and Given have been excellent signings. Well played big eck.
  2. Bit harsh on Heskey. He worked his ass off in difficult conditions, did some good defending once or twice and caused blackburn a couple of problems. No less than a 6 for me. Would probably agree with the others though.
  3. Re: the other wingers mentioned - surely we will need a third winger anyway? I hope McLeish is looking at others. What happens if we get injuries? I don't want us having to play someone like Delph out wide because we don't have any backups. Lets get N'Zogbia and someone else. Not sure McGeady or SWP would be the answer though.
  4. I can see us ending up with Rob Green. Would be typical of the way things were going around here.
  5. Amazed that there are people here who don't think this'll be a really good signing. He's been one of the best keepers in the league. May not be a long term solution but I'm confident he'll be as good as Friedel if not better.
  6. First thought it was fake. Now i think it's real. Seems he's had his head turned by his agent and clearly by fellow "professionals". **** him. He can leave as long as Liverpool offer us some sensible cash.
  7. But he's in dispute with AM. Why would he lie about him going there? McLeish would use that against him.
  8. No he hasn't! He has appointed KMac as caretaker, which was fine, and Houllier who was a decent manager and probably the best available to us at that time. Losing 6-0 at Newcastle was fine was it? How about **** up another Euro campaign? was that fine? I'm not saying Kevin did a great job, but it was a sensible decision to put him in charge until a permanent manager was brought in. He knew the players and they all had respect for him. It was always going to be short term.
  9. Why on earth would BCFC do that? Because they suspecting/knew we had an interest. Randy went to Corsica to speak to AM before he quit. We have to face up to this - we are trying to appoint him. Our only hope is that Randy fails.
  10. Sorry if already posted. Peter Pancake - "Alex goes on a trip to Corsica and Villa owner Randy Lerner has got a jet. "How do I, unless I've got a satellite device, know that they have not met? There is no way I can actually find that they have planned anything together. 12. Please let it be today. Embarrassed to say, I've been having trouble sleeping this week and I'm sure this is why!
  13. Nice post Alec. That gives me a bit of hope if it does turn out to be Martinez.
  14. Average? Yes, but what an average club and a bunch of average players... He had chances to buy players who weren't average.
  15. Sorry but I can't quite see why Martinez is highly rated by some. His record at Wigan is very average. They should have gone down last season, and if they had would people still want him? His dealings in the transfer market look decidedly dodgy. Can't see many decent acquisitions in his time. He's been at the helm when Wigan have conceded 8 to Chelsea and 9 to Spurs. This "catalan style" someone talked about? Can't say I've noticed it. I've seen a woefully inconsistent team saved by a couple of players that Martinez inherited. Somebody explain him to me, cos I just don't get it.
  16. Because they are both shite not because of their nationality. Allardyce is not shite. He is a good manager with a decent record. He transformed Bolton into a very good team not so long ago. With a decent budget behind him I'd actually fancy him to do quite well. BUT do we want his style of football at villa park? Many people would say no, i think.
  17. But we could go on to beat them in the replay and go on to lift the cup! I'd be happy with a draw tonight and don't think it would affect our premier status.
  18. Those stats are unbelievable. They would have been for any player against any team. That it was his 2nd appearance, and against man united. Awesome.
  19. I think most people saw he had quality. He just faded from the match after a while, understandable in his first appearance. Today he didn't fade, and some of his passing was better. Knows exactly what to do with the ball before it comes to him. Great to see.
  20. Makoun was very tidy. Really helps the team, was always available and made lots of good passes. Very impressed. Bent found himself that bit of space for the goal and took it well. Some nice football by Aston Villa at times and it gives me hope for the future. Not too unhappy overall. Didn't expect anything out of it points-wise so good that there were some positives.
  21. I still wouldn't hesitate for a second to take Suarez instead of Bent. I would. Suarez has no more than the potential to be a great goalscorer in the prem. Bent already is one.
  22. Sounds like it will happen, but even if it doesn't it proves we have money and are willing to spend big to get quality players. Its all good.
