Results today not ideal, obviously, but could have been a lot worse. That Puncheon goal could be crucial for us...

With Stoke to play on the final day... it's better to have Sunderland below us needing to get something from Spurs.

At least Southampton are still below us...

For us to stay above them, one of Norwich, Sundlerand and Newcastle must get only a draw and a loss from the remaining two games. Newcastle have QPR and Arsenal, Norwich have Baggies and Man City, and Sunderland have Southampton and Spurs. You have to think that one of those three teams getting only a draw tomorrow guarantees us staying above them, as they all have tough final games. Of course, if Arsenal beat Wigan this is all irrelevant. In other words, we still have lifelines if Wigan win on Tuesday.

Might already have been pointed out, but a Chelsea win could ease pressure on Arsenal slightly when they play Wigan.

*calming down* swansea could still get a point here or hopefully better, laudrup was never a half arsed professional and won't want to lose. lets hope he impresses on his team that they were way shit and need to sort themselves out. 40 points is definitely not looking safe now though and for us to win 3 on the bounce is a big ask, even without the third team having just beat the champions and us 8-0. Ha, thanks for that. As it happens I can see us being virtually safe by this time next week (virtually meaning a couple of teams would need to beat top-6 teams on the final day to get above us). It's just frustrating that even when we win, we seem to lose!

Even a draw would be a great result tonight. But noooooo, it has to be the one thing we DON'T need.

Yeah if they lose, we're effectively safe. They'd need to beat Arsenal just to take it to the final day...

Norwich-Baggies is a huge game. If Norwich lose it, they need a win at Man City on the final day to finish above us. Same for Swansea- Wigan.

I can see them being annoyed after yesterday.

Me neither, not at all in fact. It's all down to what Wigan do now. Luckily there are a lot more teams in it now. You have to think not all of them will win...

I'm happier with the way we're playing this season than last season. I now feel like we have a team to build on and improve, solid foundations, etc etc.

They are playing West Brom by the way. It's not too far fetched to think that we might be (mathematically) safe by next Tuesday night. What results would give us that?

Personally i dont think we will get 3 points monday night. If you were to offer me 1 point now i would take it and take my chances v Norwich. Its a pity they got di canio in Yeah this. I'd take 4 from the 2 games. That leaves Wigan needing 2 wins from their last 3 just to be level with us. The thing is, it doesn't matter whether we're level with Wigan or 3 points ahead of them going into that last game, it'll still be a decider. It's looking increasingly hard for us to go there and not be playing for another season in the Prem. I have faith we can pull through though.

This doesn't seem too unlikely, especially when you factor in other teams around us like Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland.

It's just ridiculous. The worst part of this is the manner it's occurred- getting much better in March and early april and then having it fall apar OH MY WORD SPURS JUST EQUALISED SPURS JUST EQUALISED YES HOORAY YAHOO YIPPEE SPURS SPURS SPURS

I think most fans would have taken those results at the start of February, and expected them to keep us up. Sadly we've been unfortunate with how other teams have done and so we're still very much in a battle. I don't think we could have done much more to be honest, the Fulham draw is the only real disappointing result from that list.

Have to agree with this. Tonights result has little impact on our survival chances, in the grand scheme of things.
  23. You know what, I'm content. Fergie was never gonna let the chance to win at OT slip away from him. We showed some good fight to not capitulate in the second half, and this hasn't damaged our GD as much as I thought it might. UTV.
