Think I’d go: Emi Cash Carlos Pau Moreno Bailey Kamara Luiz Ramsey McGinn Watkins With Diaby, Youri and Digne to come on. I agree that pushing McGinn further forward would disrupt their two holding midfielders. We could do with Ramsey’s direct running to pin their wide players back.

I’d be tempted to start both. Risk v reward and all that!

This is going to be absolute scrap. We have given ourselves every chance here and our season to date has been excellent. Injuries and not getting the likes of Ramsey, Diaby and Moreno back to form is why we are faltering. Emery has proven himself time and time again to get them going so I’m trying not to be too pessimistic.

There have been 1-2 questions about set up / lacks of subs against Newcastle and Chelsea. However, these two games are on the players. Basic unforced errors, a lack of intensity and the fact the opposition were strong has been the issue. We have a very thin squad with injuries and players not in form. No way Emery deserves anything but the highest praise.

I’m clinging on to the hope that like our other defeats we bounce back with a performance and statement win. If I had to choose a game to win out of this and Chelsea, it would be this. Absolutely massive this.

That’s your interpretation of my comment. I fully agree that back up players are not as good as the first choice. I simply stated that I have more confidence in our midfield (who were atrocious today) getting their mojo back. I am very concerned by the back 4 we put out tonight and who will play the next few.

Not sure you’ve read my comment properly. I clearly said the midfield were no better, but Luiz, Kamara and McGinn have shown much much more than Lenglet, Carlos and Cash and so moving forward I have more confidence on their collective and individual levels.

Absolute dross. I’m seriously concerned about our back 4. All 4 of them look absolutely horrendous - collectively and individually. Midfield no better, but I’m confident they will get their mojo back.
