  1. All on his own, without any help from no one. ....... you are a charmer, I'll grant you that. ps what do you do, when you're not haunting houses?
  2. I think this debate is like painting the forth bridge. They have their views and intervention from Friedrich Nietzsche or John Stuart Mill on our behalf ,would make not a scrap of difference.
  3. That is primarily what Steve Bruce is trying to change and equally that is the thing that takes time to change......its not like practicing taking corners.....its trying to instill a belief and winning mentality.......its happening, but slowly, slowly catch a monkey......... he will do it.
  4. Some folk in life have tough jobs and success as you call it is not always measured the quite same way with owners of clubs.....they sometimes look at the improvement behind the scenes that has not yet manifested itself to the pitch. according to your argument, the managers of teams that finish regularly below 6th in the Premier league are all low grade. so Tony Pulis is rubbish is he? If he had of been appointed at Villa, before Albion we would be having the same conversation.
  5. You seem to have no handle whatsoever on how long these things take. This was a premier league team that went down and was only fit for division one. They would have struggled in the championship with 3 wins all season in the Premier....they was one of the worst performing sides ever to grace that league. Have you the slightest inclination of the size of this task. we have presided over one manager in 20 years exceeding a 40% win ratio. This job never ever was a one season repair job. I have to say, your impatience or failure to value the size of the task is unhelpful.
  6. It seems to me some folk are just looking at the success some managers are having at their clubs and putting 2&2 together. its a superficial argument. for every ......Smith- Wagner- Monk- Rowett ........There is a Lee Johnson, Ranieri There are many ,many factors that are at work that make these guys successful and there is absolutely, no guarantee's it would work elsewhere. when a manager goes from club to club and creates success everywhere that is when the odds are for him succeeding. some of these managers offer no such Guarantee. Monk failed at Swansea Wagner has had one real job Rowett has done well in 2 jobs, but relatively inexperienced Smith has only had one job of any ilk.
  7. I think the supporters of Steve Bruce are being misconstrued by his detractors. Steve Bruce is not Pep or Jose......but he knows his way around this league. That is what he was employed for......let's allow him to do his job.
  8. So when you calculate a managers win ratio's in the premier league.....you exclude the top 4/5 because they are superior quality? what would you do with Leicester......exclude them last season and now include them again. Rubbish.
  9. GH Why ,why, why......don't they just sack him. because, Taylor, Little, Round and Wyness and many more are saying Steve Bruce us the right man and more importantly the club needs stability. Even the great Ron Saunders needed time to develop his teams. Who, may I pray, is this other guy who hypothetically can do better.
  10. That is folly. What has the league got to do with it......its win ratio's They had a premiership team to play in the premiership. the opposition will be relative in any league to the team you manage. he could have been in the conference.....but he would have a conference team to get his wins.....not a bloody premier league team. its all relative.
  11. When you are work in progress or trying to develop a team.....how can the mood change so dramatically after a reversal......unless its just those fans that never quite fancied him in the first place and are dragging their feet to support him. This manager of ours after 6 months has a win ratio of 38.4%......the demise he has inherited is unprecedented for such a big club......the slide is unparalled. this is a list of managers that preceded him in win ratio's RDM 8.33% Remi Garde 13.04% Tim Sherwood 35.71% Paul Lambert 29.57% Alex McLeish 21.43% Gerard Houllier 35.88% Martin O'Neill 42 .11% The next manager to get north of 40% was John Gregory.....nearly 20 years ago. This is not any old job of taking over from a struggling previous manager, it was a poisonous cesspit of abject failure. None of the defenders of Steve Bruce is claiming he is the messiah,, we are merely recognising the position we were in, not the most attractive of propositions and looking for a man to help repair the grave damage we have experienced. Steve Bruce has averaged 38% win rate in his whole career and we as a club have average 41% in our whole history. This is not a failing manager......its not one that is pulling up trees either, but I guess even if he was, that could attract dubious views too. This rectification is not going to be as quick as some thought but we must give him a chance......and for all those Who think there is a clutch of managers, who can do better, have another glance at the list of over eight years. There is nothing to suggest that one of these personally preferred managers that some of the fans harbour in their thoughts, would escape that list below Steve Bruce. just remember......a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
  12. When an opponent is faced by one of our players, more interested in getting hit by the ball, by shying away.......the best thing he could do is stick it in the net.....and he did.
  13. There is no legislating against player error. overall it seems like we played well and it does look like we are getting better. The finishing is an issue, but I'm sure they will get that right.
  14. That is players not closing down and shying away from an opponent. not game plans and management......its player basic errors.
  15. Its not bad luck, when you do that......its failing to compete.
  16. Who was our player shying away from Tommy smith, before he shot?.....instead of closing him down.
  17. We need to stay tight, avoid gung-ho......and grow in to the game......quieten the crowd, get them agitated. Frustrate them and catch them on the counter. The longer we can keep a clean sheet, the better chance we have.
  18. I want to win like the next man.....but I just hope we give them a game. They have won 12 at home.....we have won 3 away. tough call.
  19. Its not the size of the club that counts in a one off game.....its more about the stage of development they are at.
