  1. This whole , you need to play in CL stuff is just bollox ..last season in the PL if you played all games you would of played 8 times against a champs league team and 4 times against the finalists ! You also played twice against the Europa league finalists so how much more exposure do you need ??? Are you telling me playing 2 group games against Bate Borisov is a higher level than 2 games against Leicester for example ..**** off

If the current transfer go through

    Kane/Jack >City

    Lukaku /Kunde Chelsea

    Sancho /Varane  United

Thats 500mill before wages for 3 clubs who tried to **** off to the SL for more money !!!

Yeah I cant understand why a centre forward isn't getting this attention from them

Becuase they want Kane and Spurs are not bucking on price so they moved to Jack as want one marquee signing.

As for comment on Pep being a great manger ,yes his team play great football but he is has been at 3 clubs who dominate Thier leagues and spent an absolute shed load along the way.

The money brought in by Chelsea and Man cities owners distorted the transfer market but the champs league cash is the next major factor cripling the rest of the league's in Europe for clubs who don't make it .

Leicester a prime example ,actually won the league but they had Chelsea and City take 2 of best players and have fallen short every since meanwhile those 2 contested the champs league final.

  3. So they have spent £10 on Toney so they need to sell Watkins now , they have a price that's fair enough but think this one might drag on for a while we both sides sticking to their valuation.

Bournemouth basically have done a Coventry. Gambled the house on staying in the top flight. Players on large wages, Premier league money gone and the other issue is a stadium that only holds just over 11k, match day revenue money even in the premier league was a pittance. I can see them dropping like a lead weight through the leagues.

Possibly but they have got 60 mil for 2 players so far ( Ake /Ramsdale ) and looks like a decent return on Wilson and Brooks so with TV cash and rest of that league struggling with no fan income they might do ok.Alot will depend on the manager being any good , hard to know as it's his first job and many number 2's have gone on to be managers and not done that well.

Since lockdown, we all agree Douglas Luiz was our best player. We went from the worst shots conceded per 90 to the 4th best in the league. Now whilst I don't think our defence is as horrendous as some people think, he had a massive impact on our improvement in that area (In my opinion). A lot of people see how technical he is and think he needs to move up the pitch but for me, this is what makes him perfect for this position. He's the perfect number 6 for us and will only get better. Would be madness to take him out of that role. I'd be confident going into the new season with that same back 4 and Douglas sitting in front. Further up the pitch is where we should (and I think we are) focusing on improving.

Alot of that was down to his positioning , he doesn't make what you would call hard tackles but he has  knack of being in the right place at right time to intercept balls and get blocks in.He is also good at standing tackles where a player tries to go past him and he gets a toe in to get the ball away without giving away a foul .Can only get better

Every club is a selling club bar 1 or 2. If we want to sustainable then this is how you do it. We as fans need to be patient. Unfortunately a large part of our fan base isn’t or even understands the need to let players develop. Look at Luiz as a prime example.

Liverpool built their Champs League team and PL winning team from Selling Suarez and Coutinho for example

I expect that the idea with Lange is identify players from lower leagues than can make step up and remove the Copenhagen stepping stone.I can also see us  buying  players with potential and loaning  them out like Chelsea have done. Then they come back good enough for us or they are sold for profit.

A mate of mine reckons pre season starts in 3 weeks. Does anyone know any details yet?

Sounds about right given the season starts 12th Sept .I would imagine there will be no oversea's pre -season friendlies.

I can't remember Balague being correct about anything ever.

    Don't understand this bit.

I read it as Suso and Smith have taken blame for issues that are down to Purslow

I still don't get the slating of Suso here...  We basically had to build a team from scratch while being handcuffed by FFP.  The goal was to survive this season and get the team used to the Premier League.  Mission Successful!

    • Wesley - Jury is still out on him.  Shame about the injury, but I still think he'll be better after he settles a bit more in England.
    • Trezeguet - Flop.  I still think he's shit, even if he's played decently since the restart.
    • Guilbert - Phenomenal signing - We got him in January, in the Championship, when we were out of the playoff picture.  The guy is a Premier League quality player, IMO.
    • Mings - Masterstroke signing on loan - Needed to be signed permanently in the summer.
    • Douglas Luiz - I wasn't a fan when the announcement came out, but he's proven to be a great player after the restart.
    • Targett - Great signing.  I love Matty, even with the mistakes he's made.  He'll continue to develop for us.
    • Konsa - Made some mistakes this season, but he's good enough to be a rotation option for us going forward.
    • Marvelous - I'd throw him in the flop category.  Hasn't done enough for me.
    • Samatta - Garbage.  Poor movement and finishing, but it sounds like our budget was limited in January, which made our options limited too.  Let's move him on.
    • El Ghazi - Not consistent enough, but we needed to sign him at the price we negotiated because he got us up but we should look to move him on.
    • Heaton - Great signing and will hopefully be solid for us next season.  Shame about the injury.
    • Engels - Solid signing for the price.  Shame about his injuries, but I think he'll be a good option for the team to have next season
    • Jota - Worth the deal for swapping with that waste of space Gardner.
    • Hause - I don't think he's good enough for us going forward, but at 2 million, he was a good bargain signing.  We should try to get 3-4 for him this summer.

Trez and Engels cost about the same , one's goals got us 6 points that kept us up and is 2nd highest goal scorer the other made at least 4 individual errors ( Spurs at home ,Arsenal away ) yet one is a flop and the other is solid ? Solid is no where near the words I would use to describe Engels this season

We have to remember all Roy Keane coaching credentials like coming over to Tom Cleverley to confront him when both at Villa or spending a bucketload at Sunderland and barely keeping them up.

Him and Souness utter shit at the top level management and yet both employed to act like moany **** on Sky Sports

For anyone interested SwissRamble has posted an interesting thread on twitter regarding monetary value of each league placing in the Premier League. Reassuring that hopefully Everton and Arsenal will be encouraged to win and gain League placings going into the final day. Thread here -

So Arsenal finishing a place higher is worth 5.4 mil or about 50% of Aubameyang yearly wage ...

Interesting to note how much the new distribution has changed as per the moaning of the top 4 to make the league more like Spain etc where the top clubs suck so much more cash up its harder for the rest to get close.

Reading an Arsenal forum, the appetite for their game is very low and almost unanimous opinion that they should play the second XI. Only a forum but I hope that is not even close to the reality. That would be a sucker punch.

For our game maybe Snodgrass can get them all leathered for us on Saturday!

They can still move up a place in the league which is worth money to them which they need with no CL football and players on huge wages there. The higher then finish /better then perform the more Arteta can argue for reinforcements

He is not going to play a weakened side as they are team still adapting to his ways and more game them they get the better prepared for the cup final. He may rest some but its not going to be a bunch of kids out.

i dont fully buy into the 'smith' signings vs the 'suso' signing logic. konsa and engels are 2 that i believe would have been strongly driven by smith due to having previously worked with 1 and said had previously scouted the other. the rest, who knows, but smith has referred to 'the recruitment team' on several occasions, therefore it's believed that suso had a major role in the a large portion of the recruitment, where the success stories are few and far between. we had 2 bites at trying to sign a proven goalscorer and failed both times. going into the season without one was shocking, and then not correcting that error in jan was unforgivable. we spent 8m on marvelous, who we didn't need when the money should have been spent on the front line. we overspent for wes and targett, who regardless of the differences of opinions on them, i think most would agree have not lived up to their price tags.

the buck doesn't stop solely with suso. it's an admirable strategy by purslow not to loan players from the top teams, but it's something that i believe is necessary certainly in these first couple of years back.  harry wilson scored only 1 goal less than trez, and cost bournemouth nothing apart from his wages. he's miles better than trez/ghazi and a fraction of the overall price. i hope we swallow our pride on the loan front next season and get 1 or 2 in

Wilson cost Bournmouth £2.5mil to loan

    https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool/liverpool-fc-harry-wilson-joins-bournemouth-on-loan-reds-bank-2m-fee-a4207101.html

Plus wages , plus likely conditions to how many games he played. Whilst I don't agree with no loans at all this was the type of Loan Purslow was against , paying clubs to loan young players with no purchase agreed. As for miles better than Trez/AEG he was awful for Bournmouth when he came on against Soton inc giving a way a pen.
