  1. Part of me thinks that part of villa's thinking here is to screw city as payback for poaching jack. Ings was very likely a cheaper fall back option if they didn't get kane - the blue moon forum had a thread in this. Alternatively, it may prevent spurs from selling kane to city as ings was also a realistic option for them to replace kane if he got sold to city. Us buying ings kinda doubly screws city over in that regard
  2. It's cos he looks old and always has. It's a classic case of John Terry face
  3. Oh Jesus how many wee brothers does ings have?
  4. Even more crucially it has pissed off some man city fans too. Good header of the ball too, complimenting our new specialist set piece coach. It's nearly like we have a holistic plan in place for the season
  5. whoever we sign i hope it is someone who can control and dictate the game. its great that we have signed exciting players and ones who can change the game but what jack brought was game management and control when needed. dont know who will have that leading quality out of our current bunch. I think the like of JWP would bring that as he is captain of the team with an obvious football intelligence about him
  6. gonna be interesting to see who has the better stats next year, Buendia or Grealish
  7. just bumping this back up because i am so incredibly excited by this signing and feel bad that its slipping down the front page due to other events. Welcome Leon. Lets rip it up! My only concern is that due to the lazy punditry in this country and their love for low hanging fruit, Leon will be instantly and continually compared to Jadon Sancho throughout the season - based on their respective positions and where they came from. Lets hope he can hit the ground running and prove to be a bargain in comparison.
  8. to think we protected those shins of his at the expense of our league position so that he could play at the euros for england and realise his dreams . should have stabbed him full of painkillers and made im do his job for us
  9. Finally I can say something that ive been wanting to say for the past 6 years due to blind loyalty........ JACK HAS GOT SILLY HAIR AND I DONT LIKE IT!!! God that felt good - cathartic
  10. i hope this motivates everyone associated with Aston Villa to do everything in their power to compete next year. lets turn this into a positive and hopefully bloody a few bullies noses along the way
  11. I feel as sick as a cockapoo in the back seat of a range rover about all this
  12. i actually dont think he will be as good or exciting player for city than he was for us. For us he was the main man, with license to roam and create. pep will put him in a specific role with a specific job. His assets are his creative decision which i dont think he will be able to flex as much for city.
  13. whatever. its been the jack Grealish show for too long now for our club. Time to refocus on Aston Villa FC, let some of the other players get the attention and recognition they deserve, but as a team, as a whole. Up The VIlla!!
  14. another nail in the coffin of the game we love. a club being actively investigated for fraud buying a £100m player that they dont even need
  15. Haven't hated Man City this much since they relegated AFC Richmond on the last day of the season thanks to an uncharacteristically unselfish assist from Jamie Tartt
  16. Coincidently the same excuse I'll be using to my boss as to why I've sat out working for the last few days
  17. Based on nothing, I think the situation is that, due to the late notice and the impending season start, Villa have told Jack that IF we can land a few replacement targets ( JWP, Tammy etc) at prices we deem appropriate, in the next few days, then we will let him go to City. Villa wont want to leave themselves in a vulnerable position of having the money from city but with too little time or unable to get players in going into the new season. This is why I believe there has been stories today about us re-upping our interest in some big name players. It also explains why we are keeping Jack ticking over in training and generally in the fold, in case the ducks dont all line up and he stays. However they seem to be keeping him away from any full contact or intense sessions. May also explain the videos of Lange/ Smith etc continually chatting to jack - maybe keeping him in the loop with developments (that ones a stretch i admit) I dont think we will see him appear at training tomorrow and that will be the start of it
  18. Optimism through the floor today. He is doing exactly what I would expect of a player waiting for his club to finalise his transfer out whilst remaining professional. Starting my acceptance of it as of now
  19. Tammy is class and I was gutted when he had to back to Chelsea after his spell with us. We simply have to have another top quality striker on the books. Even the best players need to be challenged for their position to keep them sharp and hungry . Another top striker also makes us able to change formation, play ollie wide left if necessary, cover for injury/ loss of form/ suspensions etc. I know the argument has been done to death on here but I really struggle to understand how people dont want a player of tammy's ability back at Villa. Wes, davis and a bunch of kids aint the answer
  20. wouldnt lose much sleep over this to be honest. cant see it ever working out for him here
  21. As part of my coping mechanism I've been trying to focus on the positives in the event of jack leaving. Here they are, feel free to add your own: -£100m -Will no longer be a one man team - responsibility and leadership will be spread more evenly through the team -Won't have to put up with this media driven transfer window will jack go or not nonsense every 6 months -If he were to stay, villa's every result will be under the microscope and the narrative every time we lose will be on how jack will be regretting not having moved -£100 million -The players that £100m can buy - who doesn't love a big incoming transfer signing -Risk management - having our entire season depending on the fitness and/or form of jack is bad and risky and I poop myself every time jack gets kicked -Squad equity and fairness - having one player earn fathoms more than the rest of the squad is bound to lead to some unrest and murmurings -the fella can't even get into an average England team and wasn't even villa's player of the season last year - he got beaten by a goalie of all people!
  22. £150 billion release clause please villa
  23. I remember benteke signing a new deal whenever everyone was convinced he was signing for spurs. Was an amazing and unexpected feeling Another one of those please Aston villa
  24. Just to put the fee into context? Wasn't our entire club valued at about £50m about 10 yrs ago?
