  1. So if we assume that the week spent here early in July was Lerner and associates talking to Rothschilds and evaluating targets, eventually deciding on the Villa. That the visit of mid-July was a firming up of the interest and a first meeting with Ellis, a point in which the due diligence may have started (?) Then 10 days later the infamous visit to the club, with all the negative press that followed. Finally the visit on the day of MON's appointment, presumably to reassure MON that things were still very much on. It's the visit to VP that I can't work out. Despite the fact that the press reported that RL went off in a huff, he did have important high profile business of the Browns to attend to, so it's likely that he was always going back to the US when he did anyway. Did he come to sign some form of letter of intent, or was that the point where the due diligence started? Either way, next week does seem to be the week of RL's official bid. He's going to be at the Reading game folks, and I am going to miss it! (Don't feel sorry, my toes will be in a warm sea) Or am I completely confused? :? Would love that to be the case and could happen if things have been agreed as Niall Quinn was in the directors box for Sunderland matches at the end of last season before the takeover had been agreed.
  2. If I understand Gringo correctly, then before anyone bids they will make sure that a) Theirs is the favoured bid by Rothchilds They have a very good idea that they have Ellis and Petchey's shares in the bag. Again, assuming I havent got the wrong end of the stick, i would assume from that that there is likely to be only one official firm bid, and that things will move very swiftly from there to a conclusion, probaby in matter of hours to a boardmeeting to rubber stamp everything and from there the three week period as has been mentioned elsewhere for other shareholders to sell their shares should they wish. if I have understood correctly, a new board could be appointed by EGM very quickly after the transfer of shares, cetainly well within that three week period. Would like this to be the case as this Reading match is gonig to be special and giving the new owners, whoever it is, the hero's welcome they deserve will be the icing on the cake.
  3. Yeah, I was wondering if we'd get any news of what this board meeting was all about.
  4. Let's hope three is the magic number when Lerner flies in early next week to close the deal. :winkold:
  5. WTF was last summer's decent transfer spending all about then?!
  6. Doest matter with or without O'leary really. So Jez, you really believe that whoever is in charge next season, we'll still have a shite season?! I'm sorry but O'dreary's appaling tactics last season contributed pretty much in where we finished. As for relegation, well they way things are going I think we'll struggle to finish above 18th but I would change that if we sacked the clown as I've lost faith in him to get the best out of this squad which a new Manager could do.
  7. Sunderland lucky buggars aren't they? orst team in football sorry premiership history, 40m in debt but they now get Niall Quinn coming to the rescue promising to plough millions into the cause. Has taken 9 months in discussion with another 3 months for due dillegence though.
  8. True but the last two teams with European contention to go to the Syt- Bolton and Blackburn have been fecking terrible and Chelsea could only draw plus Newcastle are missing quite a few players (although Owen will probably make an appearence) but it would be quite ironic if Solano scored the goal that relegated them! Lua lua and Mendes should be back for Pompey next week and they should make the difference to get pompey the win they need from the last 2 games. Sky games next week are Chelsea-manure and Spurs-Bolton. prem + for some reason have Charlton-blackburn.
  9. Excellent results day although it didn't look that way when Bunderland went 1-0 up........ The way I see it the most SHA can get from their last two games is 4 points as they are playing two teams in UEFA cup 6th place contention. Their form at the Sty is quite good so they have a decent chance of beating newcastle but I can't see them beating Bolton at the reebok so draw at most. That would require Pompey needing a win from a nothing to play for Wigan and a Liverpool side with an eye on the cup final. But if Small Heath lose at Bolton, they'll only need two draws to stay up. All in all, it's looking good.
  10. So they're left with a team of this?! Taylor Tebily Cunningham Taylor Sadler Melchoit Johnson Dunn Gray Sutton Forssell Subs; ?????????? Serously, if Everton don't get at least a draw at HOME to that team, there should be an F.A investigation!
  11. Actually the one thing that is bugging me and suggesting that SHA will stay up is their superior goal difference over Pompey (better by 4) so ideally need Pompey to get a good win over Sunderland which shouldn't be too hard by a 2 or 3 goal margin which will SHA losing will make it and will benefit Pompey as they have scored more goals if It's level on goal difference!
  12. Baggies have gone. I still think Pompey, they will beat Sunderland and I would back them to get a win out of either Liverpool or Wigan. I can see SHA beating Newcastle as their recent home form is good but still think they'll struggle to get a win at either Everton or Bolton.
  13. Difficult one this........Milner has been tremendous, particular making some excellent assists over Xmas and so i really want us to sign him. Agree with roca that Barry has been a mediocre left winger for the last 2 wingers but he's so valuable for us as cover at left back for instance where he does an excellent job.
  14. Not really we could lose 3 in a row and be ****! i agree, Small Heath are "playing o.k" to quote gay Lawro i guess they're certs to win their next 3. :winkold: Or are Pomey going to win their next 5?!
  15. Rest easy everyone after tonight's match. ALthough i fear it may be a different story next season.
  16. That's not to say i want it of course Ian, this season is just a warning sign. i am worried at the moment as it's the fact we just don't want to spend anything at the moment. If the Takeover dosen't happen quickly during the summer, i assume herbert will adopt the same stance and we will be struggling as we lose key players like Delaney and Milner.
  17. The way it's going, i have a feeling we will be relegated next season if no takeover happens in the summer.
  18. No, no chance. Dosen't make it acceptable though.
  19. Well the most important thing is that Ellis has now publicy confirmed he will sell Villa very soon. So everything about Ellis leaving VP in a box and still being in charge when he's 100 won't happen! Certainly i would be amazed if he's still in charge next season. After 10 years of supporting the Villa, i can cope wih waiting a couple more months as i'm 99% we won't go down. Must find the irght people though as it dosen't look like these Comers/Neville really want to buy.
  20. And remember then the league winners were the only team from England that qualified for the European Cup.
  21. Frankly Soccer this is just a poor attempt at wit. WTF Ian?!!! i copy this off another site. There was nothing at the time that this news report wasn't serious and had been made up. I want this takeover to go through as much as most Villa fans.
  22. Reuters seem to like Sky Sports have interpreted this statement as that the Comers are pulling out although i have no idea if the Comers have actually said in a statement they are pulling out?! :? Date's wrong though.
  23. I think he missed one against Arsenal. :winkold:
