    A central midfield trio of Ireland, Holman and Makoun/Petrov wouldn't be half bad. Not bad but needs more, much more. We need to stack our midfield. I would be happy if midfielders is all we bought this summer.

    I doubt Lambert would spend any money on Holt. If he does I would start to question his transfer judgement.

    Wait did I say Martinez? I meant Lambert. Villa are like the desperate fat bloke near closing time at the club. "What the hot blonde has left?     Happy enough with either to be honest. Martinez edges it because of his slightly better transfer record and play style. But Lambert is a winner and is no tactical slouch. (as I mentioned earlier my biggest soft issue with lambert is the old firm/ Scottish factor. Which isnt that big a deal)

    Disappointing to miss out on Rodgers. I had dreams of us playing good possession style football. Still I wont be that upset if we get martinez, or even worst case, lambert. I really really would have to grit my teeth to have to listen to another year of dour Scotsman press conferences and even more old firm/villa connects.

    I would prefer the names reversed. But Martinez would be a fine choice, I would just prefer Rodgers for play style. But I wouldnt complain with either tbh.

    I am heartened by the media continuing to bring up Rodgers when they list possible Villa managers. In the absence of facts I am going to cling to this as a hopeful sign. If our aim is to rely on our homegrown talent and start playing better football Rodgers for me.

    Honestly no matter Owen Coyles skill (and I think he is a decent manager) I cant see us appointing two relegated managers on the trot. There would be a fan revolt. Last thing we need imho.

    Because he seems random. Last year he went from Martinez to McLeish. This year so far he has gone for OGS, next could be Big Mick for all we know. He seems to have zero attachment to football style.

    Yes you don't do that and then say They are really milking this aren't they. Its been a cracking bit of publiity for Molde off the back of us and has ultimatey shown them in a good light having kept there man regardless of whether we actaully ever wanted him. Yeah. You know I think our board have behaved just fine through this. I am disappointed but this Molde investor seems to have played the pratt card.

    Eh? Curious where have Villa or OGS said he wont be manager? Serious question. All I have seen it Kendricks bit and the Norwegian press saying he isnt confirming one way or anther.

    Dont worry it wont be Kevin McDonald. They wouldnt be going to all this rigamarole if they were looking internally. If OGS turns us down I still think Rodgers might be the dark horse here. His Liverpool statement was very carefully worded. To allow clubs to offer him a job. I wonder if we have.

    I am clinging to Gaztons sliver of hope. Granted getting hopeful around Villa has bee a fools errand for a while now nevertheless I choose to live in fantasy land for a few more hours
