Bissouma would be the perfect player to sit in there with Douglas Luiz. He’s not a DM, more a deep lying playmaker that can drive the team forward. Can’t see it happening though. And he’d cost £40m at least. Would be a next level signing.

I really don't want a loan unless there is some sort of obligation to buy or whatever these new fancy loans are nowadays. We're either bringing through our youth, or not. I'd rather not improve a player for another team. I think we're past that now...?

At the start of the window I thought we needed a DMC and an AMC if Grealish stayed. I think this would have seen us really kick on and push for Europe. With Grealish gone, we then needed a AML, an AMC and a DMC at the very least really. We’ve signed two attacking players who both prefer playing on the right and a striker. All good players, but not focused on the areas that needed strengthening IMO. Will be a disappointing season. Not expecting much at all but consolidation isn’t the end of the world I suppose. I just bought into this idea of pushing for Europe especially knowing what I know off the pitch at the club. There is no chance of that now. I actually think we’re more likely to finish closer to a relegation spot than a European spot.

Yes, we don’t want to see the good. It’s absolutely mental to question the idea that Louie Barry will go on to be the perfect replacement for Jack Grealish and that we don’t need to sign another winger because Barry will turn out to be actually better than Jack Grealish. We have some excellent youngsters, but I’d wager that only one or two will go on to be first team regulars at Villa and even then, they’re 2/3 years from doing that. The future is certainly exciting, but I’m not going to entertain the idea that we’ll see the benefit this season or next. Let them break through organically. Keep spending on positions that need strengthening and then through circumstance, hope one of youngsters breaks into the side and seizes his opportunity.

I doubt he’s even for sale. He’s an excellent prospect. Why would they let him go?! Either way, shame, would have loved him here.

Fair enough. I’d argue that he has absolutely no chance of doing that unless we’ve been relegated (possibly twice).

If Louie Barry goes on to be world class, we have a very good chance of winning the European cup in the next 5-10 years because he isn’t even our best academy player. I’d argue that Kessler, Carney and A. Ramsey are better prospects (certainly from what I’ve watched). If Barry is world class, Carney may go on to be the best player to ever play the game. I admire your optimism
