    Man of the Match.

    (Can't believe you missed it!)

Childrens birthday party. It just had to be. Only game of the season I’ve missed.

Villa's star player. Talisman. Hope he can keep it up.
Emery gonna make him one of the best players in the PL

I didn’t watch the game today… how did he play?

It’s a bit early in the season to be looking at what other teams are doing. Every season it takes around the 36-40 points mark to stay up. There’s still 25 games or 75 points to play for.

There are teams sat in the top half who could easily go on losing runs and end up in the relegation battle. Leicester were bottom of the league not too long ago and will have ambitions of a top half finish given their recent run of form.

Leicester have better players than we do.

We’ve had a relatively kind run of games up until this point and our points total is woeful.

Emery is a quality manager that will hopefully help us but I honestly think we’ll be hovering around the relegation zone all season.

What’s Unais transfer policy? Buy young or buy established?

Buy players he’s worked with before. I expect there to be a fair few links to Villarreal players. I’d be surprised if he didn’t go in for the likes of Jackson and Lo Celso.

Shouldn't base your opinion on those of other fanbases, without seeing a player yourself.

I did see him, and I thought he was trash for the most part. Weak, slow and too one footed. Not what we need.

From their description it didn't sound like he would be capable of 15 PL goal contributions. Doesn't mean he's amazing but they were wrong, it's cool.

They weren’t. That’s why he’s playing in Turkey.

I love Bertie’s wild card maverick displays on the football pitch but from my understanding Emery does not appreciate that type of player and instead likes his players to be a reliable cog in a well oil machine.

I fear we might never see him in  a Villa shirt again, outside of the odd preseason game.

I don’t share that fear. Wasn’t good enough when he was here.

We need pace and power in the wide positions.

Ah yes the famous Lyon fans wanted him gone the ones that rated Remi Garde, just like when the Juventus fans said Bentancur was shit you were complaining when we were linked 😂

The Lyon fans were right though about Traore. Got to give them credit there.

It's a fair point that those stats don't hold as much weight as I intended them to, but Traore backed them up with quality attacking performances.

AEG was far too panicky on the ball and timid to ever nail down a position in the side.

Out of interest, how many of AEG's goals were pens? May be none but I'm curious.

    ‘Quality attacking performances’.

He played well on a handful of occasions and was downright dreadful plenty of times. His performance at Brentford last year was abysmal.

The only thing I would say is Buendia and Bailey haven’t exactly been much better.

We’ve been awful at signing wide players for ages. £17m on Traore was particularly bad, given Lyon couldn’t wait to get rid of him.

  10. I read on Twitter that Emery has signed 19 players twice. E.g. Lo Celso.

I suspect that means he trusts certain Individuals and likes to works with players he knows can take his ideas on board.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we were linked to some Villarreal players, especially Lo Celso (I understand he’s on loan)
