Bouba and Sanson hyped for Digne after he scored that free kick was special.

I noticed this. So good to see. Brought a smile to my face. Sanson in particular was buzzing. I've noticed in a few training ground clips that they seem to walk out together. They're obviously close.
I hope Sanson gets a run out in the cup this Thursday. I think him and Kamara could play really well together.

That will be a redundant question under Emery.

    You're right, and that's refreshing I suppose.

I'm convinced if we can offer some more pace and power in attack, we'll have a much better side.

    Something like this after January:

    ---------------------------------Watkins--------------------------------------
    Bailey------------------------Ramsey------------------------------New
    -------------------------Luiz----------------Kamara------------------------

That is a much faster, stronger team who can press the opposition with Luiz and Kamara being quality in possession behind the front 4.
(Sorry, I know a lot rate Buendia on here).

  3. Can’t help shake that nagging feeling that this season has been an unnecessary waste. We really should have picked up 6-8 points more against the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest and Leeds. Not to mention we were very, very good against Chelsea for the most part.

Hopefully Emery can get us fighting for a top 10 finish. I still think we’re short of a few players to do it but for the first time in however long, I really have faith in our manager.

  4. He’s the kind of player you want coming on for the last 30 mins in an advanced position, hassling and harrying defenders and the oppositions deep lying midfielders. He’d be a nightmare to play against in that scenario I feel.

I think he’ll probably be one we look to move on in the Summer as he’ll still fetch a decent price and Emery will want to bring in his own midfielders. I can actually see him, Sanson and Nakamba leaving potentially.

Will be fondly remembered if he does leave.

    I also don’t really get it tbh…

At this point it’s become a bit of a joke I think. There are some that rate him, but it’s just more that he just hasn’t had a look in after coming here with such a strong reputation.

Personally, I’d love to see him come good, but the fact he hasn’t had a sniff since getting here probably means he isn’t cutting the mustard in training.

Be interesting to see how Emery uses him.

  6. He needs to be played in a position where he can run with the ball. He has an unerring ability to drive forward with the ball under close control and move us further up the pitch. He’s also worth a few goals each season too as he takes up good positions and isn’t afraid to make late runs into the box.

As a 6/8 or wherever the f*** he was under Gerrard, he was wasted, now he’ll be played in a role that suits him more because the manager isn’t a cretin.

He’s still got a ways to go but he’s developing into a very solid PL player.

Hard not to really like Ramsey.

I’d love it if he came good for us. At least he’s not having to do Gerrard’s ‘isolated wingback putting in aimless crosses’ thing anymore.

Not sure I understand the first part of your post. He’s not been bad for us. Digne has been fairly consistent since joining. He usually plays well and occasionally plays very well.

He was expensive and I think it was probably a bit of a daft signing in terms of the cost involved but let’s not forget he’s a French International with a lot of quality.

If he didn’t have the price tag attached, and say, came up through our youth ranks, we’d all be purring.

It was the sort of performance you see from watching, say Liverpool Vs Man City I terms of attitude, control and attitude.

    Dont forget the attitude.

Yep, I’ve been a big critic of Ollie the last year but I loved his performance today.  He’s not a goal scorer for me but if he can lead the line like that and others score then I’m delighted with him.

Yep, that’s where I’m at. It’s such a shame he misses so many chances. But then, I suppose he wouldn’t be a Villa player if he scored them!

Classic Buendia. Looked our best player and our worst at different points....but a lot more good work than bad.

He harried well and used the ball well most of the time...but then gave it away cheaply under no pressure that even some of our U11s wouldn't have done.

A score of 6.7 from Sofa Score seems about right.

77% isn’t great is it. Would like to see how that compares to Bailey and Ramsey.

Wasted today. He has so much running power and to use it to link play and score goals and expose Shaw, and get into pockets is an absolute waste.

That running should have been used to cover Digne and or Cash.

    Obviously.

    That's **** football.

I was just thinking this. Remember when he used to play as a make shift left back?

F**** me, just how bad was Gerrard.

Only 2 more games till a long break.

No reason to play a weak team.

Let's go full strength try to get our hands on a trophy.

Absolutely. I’d play the same team as today for the most part. Maybe a couple of changes, but don’t mess with it too much. Let’s knock them out.
