We’ve been very careless in possession, Olsen in particular.
We have a game plan which looks to involve just boring them to death by knocking it around at the back.
In Emery we trust, but that was a tedious watch.
Hopefully we can pinch a goal from somewhere.

We’re causing ourselves so many problems.

Tactically, this is very, very odd. In Emery we trust!

This role will suit him more than whatever he was asked to do under Gerrard.
Id love him to have a stormer tonight and prove people (and me) wrong.

Haha. We’re stronger without him

no look in even for the "B Team", doesnt bode well for him i dont think.
I’d like to see him given a chance but the cruel reality is our squad is stacked.
Emery will want to bring a few of his own players in so players like Nakamba and Sanson are going to have to leave. I’d add McGinn to that list too.

Im not too bothered by Ings and McGinn coming in. Im more worried about Mings, Martinez, Digne and Cash not playing. I feel thats where the game will be lost.

That is a stronger line up for United than I expected.
This will be tough.

I think something has gone on between Southgate and Mings. Can be no other explanation. Maybe Mings did refuse to play in Qatar?
He was dropped because Southgate apparently wanted to see how the younger players did and he referenced Tomori and Guehi. Both of those failed to make the squad, but he recalled Dier and still picked Coady.
Or Southgate is a lying incompetent clearing in the woods.
The two aren’t mutually exclusive. It may have happened but he’s still a complete fu***** moron regardless. He’s clueless.
He’s the luckiest man alive to have the job he does. He better hope he keeps hold of it too, because he isn’t going to have any sort of domestic career as a manager afterwards. He’ll pick up a job somewhere but he’ll inevitably get fired from that too.

I really makes me wonder how he won the title in Scotland ?!
I could win the title in Scotland.

One wicket and our run rate will collapse. That seems to be the way the tournament has gone as a whole. Great start though. Ours to lose.

Man City are always the issue with this competition. Until they’re out, one can never truly believe.

If Ronaldinho joined us right now he'd be the best footballer at the club but most likely the worst player. Doesn't mean anything if you still have good technique if you're unable to put it into action. Buendia is clear as it stands.
Clear at what? I'm yet to see Buendia actually have a genuinely great game for us (perhaps Everton aside last season). At least Coutinho has been the standout player in a handful of matches. Right now, Buendia is the weak link in our team. It's why so many of us are talking about signing a wide forward in the Jan window with pace and power.
Buendia is too slow and weak to excel in this division. He gives the ball away far too much. Until I see him consistently retain possession and not be be pushed off the ball as easily as he is, I won't be of the opinion that he should start for us.- 1

Coutinho was a better player in 2014.
Not today. It isn't even close.
That's just madness.
To say it isn't even close is just parody.Buendia may be the better fit with his pressing and work rate, but Coutinho is the best footballer at the club.

Buendia is miles better than Phil
Damn, Lol. Coutinho is much the better player. It's not even close.
Buendia works hard, that's the only thing he has over Phil.

Not sure we can simply replace the likes of Ings and Watkins. These are multimillion pound signings on huge wages - Ings especially. We are not in a place financially where we can just replace players without them leaving first. Nobody is taking Ings off our hands and unless Watkins finds some consistency, he won't have that many suitors for the price we'd want.
The only place in the squad I think we could look to add to, without somebody leaving first, is the wide forward position. Bailey is the only genuine winger at the club.I think we'll see this position strengthened in Jan, but that will be your lot. We need a huge clearout in the Summer I'm afraid.

A fluid front 4 of Watkins, Bailey, Coutinho and Ramsey can give any defence in the league a headache.

It’s as a result of the how football is watched these days. Most fans watch full games of their own team, and whatever click-oriented highlights social media spits out of every other team. This coupled with those god awful football banter/GOAT accounts like Football Bible and so on looking for clicks.
Clicks are generated by moments that people will watch. This results in Mings been known for that Ibrahimovic stamp and high profile mistakes. They don’t see the other 99% of the minutes he has played where he has been a very competent defender who is in no way dirty.
It’s Dejan Lovren syndrome. 99% of the time a perfectly competent sometimes unbeatable CB but his errors/brain farts are what he’s remembered for by most football fans.
A very good way of putting things actually.

Was looking as Emery's transfer record in previous clubs the other day to see if I could spot a pattern (and I couldn't, not to say there isn't one). Cba to go back and look, but pretty sure I saw that Sevilla signed Luna under him, or maybe he was promoted from the B team
There is a pattern, he tends to sign players he’s signed before. I believe he’s signed Lo Celso twice - a player I would like us to be looking at.

My main worry for Sanson is how stacked midfield is. Where does he get time in there? We've got Iroegbunam coming back in summer too who will need game time too.
Luiz, Kamara, Dendoncker and Iroegbunam for the 6s. That leaves the wide midfield where we'll have Buendia, Coutinho, Ramsey, McGinn, Sanson and Aaron Ramsey is coming back in summer too!!
I feel we are stacked in the midfield positions now and light in the forwards. Though it remains to be seen how we set up against low block teams who we have always struggled to break down. Pace in behind them won't work as there is no space behind a low block. Needs creative movement
I think Irroegbunam and Ramsey should go back out on loan again next season. It won’t hurt their development at all as they’re still so young. No need to rush them back here only to make the bench some game weeks.

Gerrard was bringing him on in the 70min when we were chasing games.
Turns out he is a decent player when you play to his strengths.
That first sentence just couldn’t be any more ludicrous could it?
What on earth was Gerrard.

12 league games 608 mins for 1 goal and 0 assists this season. Sounds like bargain for £70m
Yeh, I doubt we’ll be dropping £50-70m on anyone anytime soon!
Emery will know if any of the Villarreal players are up to the task in the PL but he’ll also have a very good knowledge of all the players in La Liga. There may be a player he admires that is now attainable but wasn’t at Villarreal, especially with the backing he’s going to get here.
Im looking forward to the next couple of windows. Unfortunately it’s going to be about who we can shift as much as who we can bring in. We need to offload a LOT of players.

There was no getting away from the fact that Konsa has been poor for about 12 months prior to the last 4/5 matches.
He seems to have turned a corner. I still think Mings is the better defender but it will be interesting to see what happens when Carlos comes back.
Personally, I think our defence is fine. Any transfer budget we have needs to be spent on the forward areas. Preferably wide players.

McGinn can’t play through a press, no way.
Would like to see Bailey come on in the second half.
