  1. Would have liked Makoun to have been tried a little more, but unfortunately Petrov is the stumbling block. A more aggressive midfielder like Parker or an Essien type can support and defend the more skilful distibutors like Makoun and Bannon. With Petrov's name almost certainly one of the first on the team sheet we will be suffering this for at least this season or unless he gets an injury.
  2. Just edged out by Petrov for man of the match today. WHAT? Dunne,Gabby and Herd were all in front of Petrov for MOTM we are looking at 90 minutes aren't we?
  3. Never class in a million years...I love when posters say he holds play up when we need to keep possession....sorry but what does he offer when like today we need to score? Today Heskey and Petrov should have been subbed as we needed to drive on.
  4. Didn't understand his substitution, lost all pace going forward after this and the only outlet became Gabby. Heskey was on his last legs, should have been subbed after 60 mins.
  5. Petrov played well today but I always judge the player when he's up against the better midfielders. Blackburn will probably go down so he did his job and did it well.
  6. Have to smile...Petrov breaks up play lol he can't keep up with play, then he passes a ball sideways or back and we allegedly sending Makoun on loan. I'll pay to send Petrov anywhere on loan, the blokes been past it for 2 seasons. Look for an alternative to Petrov and allow the likes of Bannon and Makoun to play. Keep Petrov and our midfield options are limited.
  7. I, like many posters on this site are worried how much service Bent is going to get this season. From the pre-season friendlies, certainly it ain't gonna be Petrov supplying the ball. Last night it seemed only Makoun and later on Ireland and Bannan got the ball forward. Petrov seems to delay and slow down play. Sorry for me he should not be first on the team sheet.
  8. Agree with KSV, Ireland with Bannan, Makoun, Delph and a Parker or Milner would definitely be able to show his quality. Petrov dragged play back and sidewards like the crab he is. We ain't gonna move forward until we get a driving midfielder.
  9. At least Ireland shown some passion, our midfield is woefully lacking any grit or flair.
  10. Double valued in 2 years good business, but now the pressures on for Eck.
  11. ok now's the time to buy quality, get the right players in and I'm ok with this, get it wrong and we are stuffed.
  12. Linked to Bentley and Defoe according to the transfer tavern. Worried this deflects from N'Zogbia
  13. Interesting to read in todays rags that McLeish in the transfer window asked Blues to buy Pavlyuchenko and Zamora but got Hleb and Bentley on loan. Seems to me he knew quality players would have got him outta the shit. Would have both of them at VP. My worry is Randy may offer him the job but also back him with big bucks to pacify the fans. Dunno but having renewed my season ticket I suppose as they say in for a penny....
  14. Liverplop can have Downing, 1 good season...give us £20m DEAL!!
  15. His U turn makes me want to throw up....sell him now £18m. Young is speaking to the Chairman so lets break our backs to keep him. 1 good season for Downing, he thinks he's something special, just get N'Zogbia and I'll be happy.
  16. Those people who didn't want Hughes hope they understand we could get McClaren, I for one would be suicidal.
  17. That was Si - a pre-adolescent boy, who thinks Hiddink will come the Villa and Hughes will go Chelsea I couldn't work out if it was a boy or a woman. Neither did he/she know.....
  18. Still Moyes for me...Everton finishes above us yet he admits the club has gone as far as it can. Get over here David
  19. Nice one TRS-T thought I would get butchered for not wanting to be a Sky 4 Team. Agree on getting trophy cabinet open....but first thing first FA Cup please, oneupmanship on the sty dwellers.
  20. Give me Moyes, finish 5th-7th and fill up our trophy cabinet with FA and Carling Cups, i'll be happy. Oops and maybe a Europa Cup.
  21. A good honest post General, spoken as it is and I feel a you and the Board have a great lot of affection for our club. Trust me General we as supporters will give all next season and stand by our team. We must next year be ruthless not only on the pitch but in my opinion in the search for a new Manager and support staff. The Premier League is unforgiving and so must we be. We will always be the midlands top dogs.
  22. General, my first post I've sent to you and hope you can find something positive from it. Having supported Villa for over 40 years, today brought out a frustration I haven't felt for years. To be defeated by all our local rivals was nothing short of embarrassing but today the ineptitude, poor substitutions and tactical naievity shown by Gary McAllister against a Manager like Roy Hodgson tells me the decision the Board made at the start of the season was a poor one. By the grace of Mr Lerners money did we sign Darren Bent a player who has almost single handedly saved this great club from relegation, but had this signing not been made many Villa fans agree with me that this Management pairing could not have kept us in the Premier League. Ashley Young is a shadow of his former self, our Captain Petrov is unfortunately at the end of his career and the signing of Pires was a panic move and yes we have many players sat on the bench earning money from transfers made by our previous Manager who have no love or fight for our club. All Villa fans agree we need a clear out and to cut our wage bill. My request and hope is that Mr Houllier and Mr McAllister are removed from their roles, certainly in the case of the Assistant Manager and a Manager brought in to take this club forward. Nothing more than seeing this Club, not just top dog in the Midlands but challenging for Europe will be acceptable. My positive from this is at the moment I will continue purchasing my Season Ticket but decisions made by the Board in the near future I hope will reinforce my belief in this great club.
  23. With you squaddie, I'd go for Moyes...this bloke always gets a reaction from his team after a bad result, they've beaten City and Chelsea and always plays his best 11. Everton fans are split on him but his boards lack of investment makes Villa look a good move. On the other side be happy with Coyle. Whatever happens he needs to be in at the start of next season, but I've a feeling GH will be here next year.
