Hang on - You do realise Parker is only ONE year younger than Petrov? and has a much worse injury record? Yes Parker would be a good signing but s it stands hes not a Villa player and is incredibly unlikley he will be given drastic austerity measures this summer I dont desperately want parker just someone more commanding. As for he is 1 year younger than Petrov, that may be so, but he could run the legs off Petrov quite easily!

Ive always thought we had quite a quick attacking side. Petrov for me slows it all down. Great leader and give us great service over the seasons, but he is finished for me and should not really be playing much anymore. I think because he is one of the main players, its hard for managers and the board to either to stop him playing or move him on, If a player cannot play a full game due to fitness, he should'nt be playing anymore never mind be captain.

I agree it seems the OS think he is gonna be the saviour of our season. The Zog can be quality, I like him, but I dont think he will not have the impact of a top class signing.

Makoun and Petrov are 2 fantastic players on the ball, both move it about and will feed the wide and creative players around them. Its DM that worries me as im not sure Hogg or Herd are good enough as the back up(would rather Fofana).. And Delph is wasted as a DM, he is far better in the final 3rd like his days at Leeds.

MON had no quality, fook me, some of us could have had success with the amount of money he shat up the wall. Yes the team grafted under him, but so would you were taken out of lower leagues and paid 50k a week.

We should sign a replacement for Downing in this window, so we can build him into the team, the sell Downing in the Jan transfer window. Maybe we can then play Downing less and less to thanks him for his loyalty and all. I cannot understand why the club simply cant say to Downing and other clubs he is not for sale. Tottenham have done it with Modric. If he stays and dos'nt perform, he dont get played. Things need to change, we are where we are because we keep selling our best players, the board are the only ones who can stop this. Liverpool think they can get Downing for around 12-15 mil. We had better stick with 20+ if we have to sell. If we still had Young, Milner, Barry, we would have a good squad built around these players and for me be boardering champions league football for sure. A big problem with our best players going is not loosing the player, its having to build the squad back up without that player. If it continues to happen we will be heading nowhere.
