  1. I still have not seem anything from Lambert?? Why the hell was the PL thread locked so quickly? Can someone post it here? It's on the BBC website PL describes suggestion he will leave Norwich as "absolute nonsense" That's good news IMHO as he's taking them down next season I saw that interview. All he said was the speculation was not coming from him and that he never said he was leaving Norwich. If Villa make an approach all of that could change over night. I would be absolutely shocked if we did not at least sound him out.

  3. Can someone link to where Paul Lambert rules himself out?? Seems a very premature lock especially as the OGS thread is still open!! WTF?
  4. True but I'm just saying Villa have become it would seem a bit more media friendly these days. Even the young players are groomed to give practice interviews with the club. To have a manager who appears to "hate the media" then I'm not sure he'd fit the profile. But then again I've always had my doubts because he supposedly models himself on MON and I'm not so sure Lerner & Co would like another re-run. Having said all that if Villa played next season - the type of football Norwich have played this season under him in the future then I don't think any of us would moan too much as long as we got some results to boot. MON is pretty much a media darling. I have never seen the similarities between Lambert and MON either in their personalities or management styles. Lambert actually reminds me of an Aberdeen-era Ferguson,.
  5. I presume you mean OGS! Could you please explain why you have arrived at your opinion? What exactly has led to you drawing the conclusion that OGS would de a better job coaching and bringing through youth team players than Paul Lambert? How many youth team players has he brought through at Molde? Please explain this? What makes you think that OGS has the first clue about transfers or European based players? The man spent his entire career in England and Norway FFS!! Can you even name his coaching staff? And what is his philosophy and attitude? Are you basing your entire opinion on fantasy? Why does he need to? He has a preference just like you do. So what if you dont agree? Madness.... Fair comment. My tone was a bit out of whack…in fairness I am just trying to understand why so many people on here have drawn the same conclusion? They were questions more than criticisms.

  7. But... but... he's an ex-CELTIC player!!! Is this supposed to imply something? :?:
  8. If Lambert and Martinez turn us down I would be happy with OGS. Lambert could really do something incredible here. If he can get Norwich from League 1 to a deserved 9th place in the Prem on a tiny budget then he could achieve anything here. Lambert is a winner and he will have an incredible career. I just hope its here at Villa Park. Martinez too could be a hit. We would be guaranteed a change in football philosophy which I would gladly welcome. I have no doubt that our players have the ability to adapt to his style. It would be very interesting to see how he would do. OGS is the least experienced of the three. He has won the Norwegian league for Molde for the first time in their history but this was done with significant financial backing. He comes across very well. But he is so short on experience that it is impossible to speculate on how he would face up to the task that awaits at Villa. Poyet would be a similar option to OGS.
  9. Paul Lambert would be the outstanding choice. Felt we should have went for him last year but there was a little question mark over him due to lack of premier league experience. A year on and after a great first season in the Prem there is no doubting his ability. I am sure that he will be approached by Liverpool too. If we have a chance of getting him it would be a huge mistake to pas up on him again.
  10. What Jury is this?! Lambert is without doubt the better option.
  11. Have you seen Norwich play the last couple of seasons? Lambert doesn't play hoof ball. I was at Carrow Road last week where like for much of this season they played some nice stuff. 3000 of us Villa were suitably impressed and singing Lamberts name. Agree 100%.
  12. This should not even be a consideration. Lambert all the way. I get the feeling a lot of poster on here are being swayed by their potential payouts on OGS!
  13. Lamberts record so far is outstanding. I cannot see how any unbiased person with any knowledge of football would rate OGS higher than Paul Lambert. It’s illogical.
  14. He has as much experience as one Pep Guardiola had when he took over at Barca. Its a risk but all managerial appointments are. As I have said before all I ask is that the club has learnt a lesson and the contract includes minimum performance targets etc.
  15. How's that funny? I remember them playing Real Madrid. FFS its more realistic than us being in it any time soon! In fact Norwegian champions regularly qualify for the group stages.
  16. Which might make it rather difficult for OGS, switching from managing sensible Norwegian professionals to the British WAG culture idiots, no? he's managed Utd's kids and reserves... Not the same as negotiating wages, disciplinaries, etc., with the likes of Dunne and Collins (and their shyster agents). Perhaps with a DOF? Commolli? I’m sure Ravel Morrison may have introduced him to disciplinary & attitude problems! Not convinced by Comolli. Seems to be a bit of spoofer. To be honest I would be very surprised if this club at this time took the gamble on OGS.
  17. The following are facts: AVB will definitely not be our next manager. Capello will definitely not be our next manager. Ranieri will definitely not be our next manager. Hiddink will definitely not be our next manager. McCarthy will definitely not be our next manager.
  18. I'm seriously doubting this but I would love Ranieri. I admit that's partially because of my fondness for Italy and Italians but he's a good manager as well and a big name. I know him in real-life, kind of. He's hit and miss about things. Ranieri's record of persistent failure would surely rule him out?? This woudl be a joke of an appointment. Yesterdays man and not even a very good one. I would rather King Kenny FFS!
  19. I am all for Martinez because of the way his teams play football. He started all the good work at Swansea and his work at Wigan is nothing short of miraculous. Wigan always play neat and tidy football and he has a style and ethos that he sticks to. When the chips were down at Wigan rather than do a mcleish and put 9 behind the ball he changed to 3-4-3 formation and had a go. Rodgers has also had a similar career path. has been on the coaching staff at a big club and has managed small teams on low budgets and agin like Martinez has a nice style of football and does not change it. Rodgers and Martinez also come across well in the media. Lambert is a no for me, I dont like the man at all. he has a dour attitude and comes across as miserable and unispiring. I dont like his style of play at all, its very direct and I though apart from Blackburn that Norwich were one of the most shambolic teams at VP this year. I dont another miserable dour scottish manager at VP and while he would be better than McLeish I dont think he can take us forward. I would be disappointed with Lambert being appointed. I think you may be underestimating Lambert and his style of play. This may be an interesting read for you. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/feb/13/paul-lambert-norwich-swansea
  20. Look I think we can all agree that any managerial appointment would be a risk. I don’t think anyone could criticise the club for taking what would amount to an informed gamble on Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez. All of them to different degrees have shown enough ability to suspect they can go on to better things. And for all of them Villa represents a step up. Any appointment can go wrong. Look at Chelsea and AVB, Inter and Benitez. While we are on the other end of the spectrum the job requires just as much skill. We just have to be sure that the clubs liability is reduced if the worst case scenario arises. Contracts should contain performance related bonuses, and below 40 pts release clauses and to be fair a minimum release clause. If anyone is against the appointment of any of Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez. could you please explain why? and explain who you would appoint and why?
  21. If twitter is to believed then King Kenny has been deposed by the scum. We might have competition for Martinez / Lambert
