  1. FFP will **** us eventually.. Big money Premier League will also **** us.. We have a finite amount of time before our job of promotion gets even harder than it is now. The longer we are down here the less revenue we will make which lowers our revenue ceiling as far as FFP is concerned. Due to that we can't spend as much even with Xia not without incurring fines, sanctions and if we went too far having our eventual promotion stripped of us keeping us down here. FFP will bite us in the ass 2-3 years from now if we are still here.. That is guaranteed. That said the Premier League may scupper our chances before too long. Have you even thought about the fact that in a year or two of big money the kinds of teams getting relegated would be mid-table Premier League teams now? Yeah we may be fine this season if we don't succeed as some teams didn't spend as much as they likely could have, but seasons on from now because three teams have to get relegated regardless of squad quality it will start to become a fight. So we have 1-2 years if that to get out of this situation if we want promotion to remain somewhat "easy".
  2. A lot of these mistakes wouldn't have been punished so harshly if our attacking players actually did their job. I'm not giving Gollini a pass here as mistakes are mistakes, but they have all largely come in games that we should have been 4-5 goals up in. So heres hoping with two of last seasons highest scoring strikers in the team we will start scoring enough that Gollini with 20 minutes to go can't cost us the match.
  3. I'll put £10,000 on it thanks for the tip!
  4. Picturing the graphic design apprentice working for Sky being told to make that graphic.. "You have to make this clearly one sided deal look like a fair deal for all.. Get on it Dave!"
  5. I like Adomah because all the Boro fans seem gutted to see him go.. They also seem gutted that we lumped Adama "no motivation" Traore on them.. So good business all round.
  6. Good window if the club are done. Last season we did similar yet the difference is we signed players that were barely good enough for the Premier League with the £50 million. This season again a £50 million spend but we've signed some of the best players in this division. So all in all good window, we have done more in 2 months than anyone ever thought we would.
  7. You would be too if you'd barely played in a year and were still feeling out your injury. It's a scary time coming back from an injury as you know it doesn't feel as strong as it did pre-injury and you don't want to injure yourself again. This is why we shouldn't have got rid of Bennett as Amavi is still a month from being 100%, yet when Cissokho went off injured Amavi was the only replacement for him.
  8. Not the worst thing ever. I think there were far more important players that needed to be shipped out that were shipped out. Richards isn't a great player but as long as he knuckles down he's a good squad player at this level, which considering we need a bit of squad depth isn't the end of the world.
  9. Another concern is the quality of relegated teams will only increase as more money is spent in the Premier League. It won't be long until the quality of team relegated would be that of a mid-table team now. That is the unfortunate future of a league that just had £5.1 billion injected into it..
  10. I think we are hated whether we are playing well or playing shit. I mean we had very few allies last year at our absolute worst. I think many fans of other clubs are jealous of what Villa have accomplished, because without winning anything of note for decades we are still a more prestigious club than 98% of teams out there. 5 League Cups, 7 FA Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 Super Cup, 1 Community Shield, 7 League Titles. The last time we were relegated we came back first time of asking and within 5 years had a team that came 2nd in the inaugural Premier League season.. Fans of other teams don't like that you can't keep Aston Villa down for long. They were relishing in our downfall only to see us start buying the league and as more players, stronger players and more money has been spent the level of butthurt from rival fans has increased and increased. So we are hated because we just don't go away. Just wait for sheer levels of saltiness from rival fans when we eventually win something again.
  11. In a shit side that finished 18th in this league. He contributed 19 of their 54 goal total last season. Yeah the barren spell is a bit concerning but he's joining a Villa side that have created 50+ chances in 5 matches, I am sure he will rectify that goal drought fast.
  12. Maybe he did the math.. Saw that McCormack and Kodjia are likely our first choice strikers and with Adomah likely on the way his position in the starting XI gets less and less likely. One it shows ambition that he doesn't want to rot on a bench, but two it shows a lack of fight to keep his place in the team.
  13. Before McCormack signed I would have been gutted if Ayew wanted to leave, but seeing as Ayew doesn't pass to McCormack and doesn't seem inclined to play as part of the team then he can go.
  14. Haven't seen anything of this McManaman guy but anyone that snubs Newcastle is more than welcome here.
  15. 1-2 but that's just me being greedy and finding it hard to come to terms with our activity potentially ending today.. It's been a super fun window.
  16. This.. I think Bristol will miss him when they realise just how many goals he was contributing. Their claims that he was inconsistent I don't know how many 1 in 2 strikers they have had, but you don't get much better than that at this level.
  17. I may be wrong but ignoring net spend which seems pointless anyway considering teams pay in increments, but ignoring that I think at £51.3m spent there are many Premier League teams that haven't spent that much. We haven't just obliterated the Summer Transfer record for the Championship, but at a time where Premier League clubs are breaking their transfer records we have still out spent a lot of them.
  18. He scored 20 goals for them last season.. They were shit last season. It appears they were expecting him to score all 60+ goals they needed to be a decent mid-table side.. Personally a striker that scores 20 goals in a season has done his job, it's on the other striker and the midfielders to contribute. Yeah in an ideal world a team wants a player that scores 10+ more than that but he was not their issue last season.
  19. Player leaving is no longer good shock horror.. I mean he scored 20 goals for them last season, he was not the reason for their lack of fortune.
  20. It was Hernandez but the deal fell through because Hull are apparently awkward as **** to deal with right now.
  21. Maybe he saw us and was like "I would have scored most of those chances Ayew **** up" and relished the opportunity.
  22. I guess the Prem club he means is Hull.. The club we were all hoping he would go to as that in "theory" would have freed up Hernandez.
  23. 20 goals last season in a side not exactly creating many chances.. We have likely created more chances than Bristol did last season in 5 games. I hope Kodjia thrives.. Also Ayew pass to the word removed, don't treat him like you treat McCormack..
