CORNISH footballer Liam Prynn hopes to complete a dream move to Premier Division Aston Villa this summer as talks with present club Torquay United continue.

The 16-year-old, from Constantine, was in the West Midlands with his family at the weekend to discuss joining the club's acclaimed youth Academy on a two-year scholarship.Negotiations are ongoing, and following initial reports on Tuesday suggesting a deal had been done, Torquay United contacted West Briton Sport yesterday to state that this was not the case.

A club spokesman said: "As a football club we do not comment on any transfers until they have been confirmed." A number of Premier Division clubs have been monitoring the talented teenage striker, but it is Villa who have stepped up their efforts to land Prynn.

If a deal is reached between Villa and Torquay, the club he has been at since 13, Prynn will return to the club's Bodymoor Heath training ground in July, where he will officially become an Aston Villa player, ahead of a pre-season tournament, possibly in Germany, later that month.

Last season Villa's U18s beat Chelsea to win the 'Next Gen Cup', the youth team equivalent of the Champions League, having already played the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

It's a far cry from the youth team games Prynn has played for in the past for Torquay, but it's a challenge the striker will no doubt be relishing.

Next season Prynn could be playing with and against some of the country's future stars in the Barclays U18s Premier League.

Villa have produced a plethora of homegrown stars down the years, including the club's current first-team striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Prynn will be coached by Bryan Jones, who has brought the likes of Gary Cahill, Steven Davis, Craig Gardner, Agbonlahor and Nathan Delfouneso through the club's Academy ranks.
