mattyburge Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 just a couple of obsrvations from the everton game, 1) collins is clearly our most needed player, shows heart, hits every contest at a million miles an hour and has a real desire to win. 2) are sunday fixtures not a very popular one for us? havent seen that many vacant sats for a while and considering our games with everton are normally crackers i was suprised!
CrackpotForeigner Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 1) agree, fantastic defender 2) the Newcastle game knocked the enthusiasm a fair bit, is my guess.
Cracker1234 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 NewCastle game, the Europa exit.....No manager....take your pick.
theboyangel Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Re 2) also shown on Sky... lack of funds.. still school holidays etc etc
Villarocker Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Re 2) also shown on Sky... lack of funds.. still school holidays etc etc You can add to that the fact that it was also the last Bank Holiday weekend until Christmas and a lot of people would have gone away for the weekend.
ChrisNichollsToe Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Agree with point 1 Think point 2 has several reasons, one being that its the last couple of weeks of the school holidays, so with the bank holiday, many have simply took the kids away. Still 36,000+ though. Not bad for a managerless team that has been stuffed 6-0 by a bunch of deluded dwarfs, and gone out of europe without a wimper.
mattyburge Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 ok that exlplains a bit regarding number 2, over here in oz and didnt know school holidays were on, and wasnt aware about the sky sports showing, do you only get selected games on there? every game of the Premier League is shown live here so just assumed it was the same there?
BOF Posted August 31, 2010 Moderator Posted August 31, 2010 do you only get selected games on there? every game of the Premier League is shown live here so just assumed it was the same there? Only very selected games. They're all available on dodgy internet streams, but you might get a Villa game on Sky on average once a month - and the attendance is affected accordingly. But all of the reasons posted above pretty much nail why the attendance for a relatively good game was so low.
