Brilliant.

Had a big look back through this thread and we've both doubted the team at points this season. I am saying from this point onwards, win or lose in Indy, that won't be happening anymore. Not with this coach, not with this QB.

We both rage quit on multiple occasions im sure! Thing is deep down you always believe in them and that they are capable of greatness so when the shit does hit the fan its a rocky road to ride out and you are searching for reasons as to why it isnt going to plan.

Coaches are the easiest target and the first to get the stick, but i think its pretty safe to say that we have a very good one and some bloody good coordinators also. Against a hell of a lot of adversity we have found a way to win late in the season again. Now we need just one more.

How about this incredible Xerox of fate for the Giants.

In 2007, the Giants started the playoffs by beating an NFC South team. Then they beat the No. 1 seed on the road. Then they beat the No. 2 seed in the conference title game when the foe turned it over in overtime and gave the Giants a short field and the Giants won on a Lawrence Tynes overtime field goal. Then they moved on to face the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

In 2011, let's see ... NFC South team, No. 1 seed, No. 2 seed, overtime, turnover, Tynes, Patriots. Check.

One more thing:

2007: Giants lose to Washington 22-10 in Week 15.

2011: Giants lose to Washington 23-10 in Week 15.

It's 13 days early to say this is a team for the ages. But the Giants will be underdogs to New England again in the Super Bowl, just like they were four years ago when they won by a Velcro catch and three points. And if the Giants win, they'll go down as one of the most remarkable stories of our era. Imagine Coughlin and Manning beating Belichick and Brady three times in four years -- twice in the Super Bowl, the other time in Foxboro. It'd be extraordinary.

So many comparisons to the 2007 season it's ridiculous. Almost identical schedule, pretty much same outcomes in the games. A 6-2 start followed by a mid-season collapse and an end of season revival, most notably on D.

Baas vs Wilfork and their TEs against our LBs are my biggest concerns regarding the game.

Agree with those concerns, Wilfork is a mountain of a man and played his best game for the PATs in the AFC championship. He will need double teaming most of the time.

The DeOssie Coincidence....

kinard : 12:16 pm

If this has been pointed out I'll delete, but it's still cools as hell anyway..

So .. on the Matt Bahr field goal in 1991 NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers in Candlestick Park to send the Giants to the Super Bowl, the long snapper is none other than Steve DeOssie....

Fast forward 21 years and on the Lawrence Tynes field goal in 2012 NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers in Candlestick Park to send the Giants to the Super Bowl, the long snapper is his son Zak DeOssie.

Pretty amazing - Circle of Life - father and son both snap the winning field goals to send the Giants to the Super Bowl on the road against the same team in the same stadium.

Safe to say that its never been done before.....

From BBI.

Eli addressed the team today per twitter reports:

Rolle says Eli Manning spoke to the team today. “Eli doesn’t say much but when he says it, you know it comes from the heart.”

Rolle said Eli Manning gave passionate speech to team. Message was we’re going to Indy to take care of business.”

Antrel says Eli addressed the team today. Told them “It’s about business” all the hoopla is for family and friends.

Weatherford: “It was pretty jovial in that team mtg but as soon as Eli got up, everybody shut up. “

Giants last 12 games:

W - New England (15-3)

L - San Francisco (14-4)

L - New Orleans (14-4)

L - Green Bay (15-2)

W - Dallas [8-8]

L - Washington (6-10)

W - Jets [8-8]

W - Dallas [8-8]

W - Atlanta (10-7)

W - Green Bay (15-2)

W - San Francisco (14-4)

New England (15-3)

Combined record of 142-63 (205) = 69.27 win %

You will not find a tougher schedule than that, we are battle tested and im hoping that these wars that we have been through will help us overcome the PATs once again.

The PATs 10 game win streak is very impressive but who have they beaten?

Jets - Mark Sanchez

Chiefs - Tyler Palko

Philli - Vince Young

Indi - Dan Orlovsky

Washington - Rex Grossman

Denver - Tim Tebow

Miami - Matt Moore

Buffalo - Ryan Fitzpatrick

Denver - Time Tebow

Baltimore - Joe Flacco

It says it all when Joe Flacco is the best QB they have faced, but that being said they have beat what has been put in front of them and had no let downs like we did throughout the year. Baltimore is the first team with a winning record that they have beaten all season but they looked a lot better defensively as of late.

In many ways i think they are somewhat of an unknown quantity going into the game, in so much as we dont really know their true standard, where as the Giants have had to display it against top tier offenses and defenses all year long.
