    Yeah, literally. I wouldn't mind Smith at all but he's not really the goalscorer we need. Nugent could be? Bent? Who knows, but Alan Smith is more of a 'second striker' really.

    I'd be pretty pleased with Nugent I have to say. He keeps on banging them in for Preston and thats exactly what we need. Plus he's only 21. Distin, Barton, Nugent, SWP, Stearman. Unrealistic? Perhaps. Attainable targets individually though.

    They have 8 hours 12 minutes to make such an announcement which, bearing in mind that we've not heard much about it, its the middle of the season, its sunday and new years eve, seems pretty unlikely. I think you could safely assume that wherever you read that was a misinformed source. I don't care who makes our kit by the way, just so long as it looks good and sells well.

    So we can sign them?? Are you advocating spending money on relative chaff just because its slighly better than Aaron Hughes? What's the point? Patience is the virtue Malcolm and we may well have to wait for the right people to become available. Panic buying is not the way forward.

    There's no point in discussing the value of a player like Gabby because, for a start, he's not for sale. Secondly, no one really knows whether he's actually going to develop into a good all round striker or whether pace will always be his only asset. We wouldn't sell him and no-one would want to buy him because it would be an inflated price and a gamble. At present, he isn't worth anything like £10million, even including potential.

    Sometimes you have to pay a little over the odds to get you're man - especially mid-season. Thats not cause for concern, it's cause for jubilation because we'd have got the player we want.

    Don't see why, just because he hasn't scored under Harold Bishop yet doesn't suddenly make him any worse a player.

    I'm with you Pablo Even on MOTD you could see how bad Hughes was. Right Back, Right Mid and Striker have got to be our priorities I reckon.

    Having not kept a clean sheet in 6 matches and having conceded 12 goals in that period I'm beginning to wonder whether we need to look more seriously at central defence. Having said that, I think this is largely to do with having our first choice keeper out so I'll agree with that order.

    With the supposed funds we have< i think we can now do better. Don't recall him pulling up too many trees at the Barcodes this year He's playing pretty well at the moment actually Rudy. Also, he's stil only, what, 20? I'm getting the impression that he won't be sold though. I have to say I'm totally clueless as to who we may or may not sign in January.

    It doesn't sound as if we'll be signing too many overseas players next month (read ISM article) so you might have to wait until the summer for you're Muntari's, Navas' and Pazzini's. Probably sensible I guess. I'm with you that there is some quality overseas to be tapped into but it seems like January we'll be purchasing from the championship and if we're lucky, premiership.

    Because he could leave the divisions comedy club and be managed by Martin O'Neill as opposed to Glenn Rodent. Just for starters...
