  1. To the tune of 'olay olayyy, olay olayyy feeling hot hot hot' (I dunno what the song is called). Ole Oleeee, Ole Oleeee Gunnar Solskjær!
  2. But we're not putting money on because the odds have suddenly shortened (Mick was favourite a day or two ago), we're putting money on because Trees knows where Randys jet is going! The odds have only shortened because of us VTers going crazy with our spare pennies. The fact that you mention the Ancellotti/ McLeish island visit, means that we can almost certainly trust the info that Trees gives us. Of course, another manager could be in that area, but OGS seems like the most obvious/ viable guy there. I'll happily risk £20 if it means I might get close to £300 back!
  3. £10 on Paddypower at 10/1, £10 on William Hill at 20/1. I'd be happy with OGS (I prefer the abbreviation to attempting to spell his name :winkold:). I don't know anything about how he has managed at Molde (infact, I'm sure I read something from someone on here saying that he spent a shedload of money?), but he's young, seemingly has potential and could, hopefully, build a legacy at Villa. I would worry about him wanting to manage Man Utd though With Lambert/ Rodgers/ Marinez, I almost feel like they'd be happy to manage a club the size of ours, like Moyes has been happy at Everton.
  4. CI, you don't half spout some shit! Oslo isn't even a place! He's a character out of Keeping Up Appearances!
  5. I take back my previous post of 'Mazrim for manager' :winkold:
  6. Talksport occasionally get news, but more often than not they just talk about news other reporters have found. If the phonecall was genuine and the information relayed was understood correctly and your source has reiterated it correctly, my only explanation would be that the board will offer a foreign, 'lacking-Prem experience' manager a lower wage budget, to minimise risk. Who knows? Maybe Lerner will be more than happy to give a manager like Lambert/ Martinez/ Rodgers a budget of £20m+, because of their experience of English football.
  7. I was just trying to make a team with the least amount of changes possible, to be honest! Too many changes make it look a bit... 'Football Manager'-esque! I agree with getting rid of Warnock. Dunne I'm not sure about. At times he is a liability, but at others he makes excellent last ditch tackles (as can Collins, on his day). I've got a feeling that Hutton will be kept. Martinez (or whoever) will probably see enough in him to work with. There are more important changes that we need to make.
  8. Ooooo thinking about it... Would I prefer: Martinez with the possibility he could bring Diame ? or Rodgers with the possible influence to buy Sigurdsson? ! Errrrrrrrrmmmmm
  9. Martinez is my personal favourite for a number of reasons. His name is Roberto, mine is Robert. He is very positive He wears a lovely suit He can bring Diame with him and get the best out of N'Zogbia Failing him, I'd be happy with Lambert or Rodgers. Whoever we get, I just hope the fans give him time! I really think that this next appointment, if give the chance, could be with us for years. Hopefully this years terrible season will mean that the next manager gets more of a chance from the fans, even if we're not winning game after game.
  10. Like this? Holman ------- Bent ---- N'Zogbia -------- Makoun --- Ireland ------- --------------- Diame -------------- Warnock - Clark - Dunne - Lichaj ---------------- Given -------------- If Martinez was in charge, this could be a formation he'd play. I've put Holman left wing because I think Martinez preferred Zog on the right.
  11. Whoever we appoint, I hope the majority of, if not all, fans get behind him! I'm naturally a very positive person, so I even found some comfort in the appointment of McLeish (possible defensive stability, man management, fluke a trophy :winkold:). But I just hope that the fans can get behind the new guy from the start! We need to unite! We need to come together after a dreadful year and get behind the new manager and his plans. Whether it's Lambert, Rodgers, Martinez..... Hoddle or whoever!
  12. Agreed. Adds credence to the journo (Father Abraham?) on twitter who mentioned about the 40 points threshold for compensation. The word "terminated" suggests to me that AMcL was deemed to be incompetent and dismissed without a pay-off. Don't you know? Randy planned this all along Gazton!! He knew that McLeish would keep us up by the skin of our teeth, he would oversee some costcutting, become the scapegoat, then we can get rid of him for £1.50 and a voucher for a hot chocolate at his local Maccys! Oh Randy you mastermind badboy genius!!!
  13. This echos my feelings exactly. Gave him a chance, he didn't cut the mustard. Let's move onwards and upwards with someone who can get us playing football again! Martinez Lambert Rodgers I don't mind, as long as it's not someone negative (which I doubt Randy will subject us to, after this year, and his statement!)
  14. I'm so excited. I just want to reload my 2015 game of Football Manager, find out which team McLeish is managing, then 'add new manager' to replace him. Just so I can see the words 'McLeish sacked!'
  15. I'm on my lunch at work, but I've had to come back to my desk to keep an eye on VT because my phone's '3G' internetl won't load Villa Talk!!!!
  16. Would explain why McLeish was so piised off yesterday BUT.... if true why play 7 defenders? I may be mistaken (but I don't think I am).. but Chris Herd is a midfielder who can play at RB. SIX defenders. I'm sick of McLeish too, but I think I'm more sick of hearing people say "7 defenders".
  17. No matter what our differences are, no matter what kind of football we'd like us playing, or which players we each like or hate, or how many of us can understand a few of McLeish's less questionable decisions.... we all come together, united, in our time of need! Villa fans... UNITE!
  18. Keep us posted on any air traffic, as I know you will Trees!
  19. 'painfully' is the right word!
  20. Randy might geniunly think that the loss of an £18m striker, our best central defender & our captain (coupled with injuries to other key players throughout the year) has given McLeish a worse ride than he deserved. He might also think that bringing in another manager could lead to another 'transition season' and relegation battle. He might think that giving McLeish another £20m+ to spend will be enough to get us fighting at the top half of the table again. OR, he might cast his mind back to this time last year, when he had ambitions for us to become a 'footballing side' and he might bite the bullet, sack McLeish, pay the compensation, approach Roberto Martinez and give him the funds to build a new team. Who knows.
  21. I don't see how you can say 'That's a fact'. Arteta was at Everton for yonks, before he went to Arsenal. There are lots of good players in the Prem that have gone to 'lesser' teams instead of the lights of London.
