  1. The difference is Richard Branson EARNED his money. He takes risks and stands or falls by his decisions. The greedy F****ers who are in charge of the banks recieve barrow loads of cash regardless of their performance. The whole thing reeks of greed and sheer avarice. If these bastards were paid by performance they would be paid nowt. Rant over.
  2. And a Happy New year to you too. Stan was suffering from clinical depression while at the Villa. He's certainly not, as you so eloquently put it a "****". If this is the best you can contribute to this subject then I think it says far more about you than it does about one of the few real friends we have in the media. Way to go Stan.
  3. Fantastic that I can go out for a drink without coming home with my clothes reeking of smoke. By all means if people want to smoke, then go outside and inhale to your hearts content. Those of us who are not addicted to Nicotine couldn't be happier.
  4. Most of this team were signed by that quiter. A lot of money wasted . Whatever the future holds, I'm glad he's gone.
  5. Having worked full time since I left school in 1972, I have been lucky enough to have been in full time employment for my entire working life. During those 38 years I have paid National Insurance to the tune of thousands of pounds, this on the understanding that if I ever was unfortunate enough to lose my job, I would be entitled to what used to be called unemployment benefit and which is now rather pathetically labeled job seekers allowance. Now, some Tory gobshite, who has probably been too busy screwing the taxpayer with his expenses for the last 20 years to have any comprehension of what a real days work is, is telling me that if I am unfortunate enough to lose my job, the benefits for which I have contributed so many thousands of pounds towardsi, will only be paid out if I agree to do his bidding with regards to so called voluntary work ie "do it or else". If I pay my house insurance and my house is damaged , I would not expect the insurance company to demand I clean the streets before my insurance is paid out. The principle is the same. Shame on them.
  6. Or the excesses of the last Labour govt which have brought us to this position? That'll teach them to dabble in the sub prime mortgage market in the lower Mississipi delta. The world banking recession was caused by the Labour party dont you know. It had nothing to do with all those Tory voting greedy bankers.
  7. Listening to Dimbleby 's show on the radio last night. A panelist questioned the motivation behind the cuts in child benefit. The Tories state that this is only being done because of the budget deficit. It was asked if once the deficit is lowered, however long that takes, would the benefits under attack now be reinstated. If the answer is no, then it becomes more a long term idealogical cut than one truly driven by short term fiscal expediency. Ian Duncan Smith skirted the point, but I think it's a relevant one.
  8. Deficit or not. The kind of things being touted by the Tories have been on their wish list for years. They are nothing more than a bunch of opportunist shysters. Osborne is an economic ignoramus who has just laid the foundations for a Tory defeat at the next election, so every cloud has a silver lining. Way to go Georgie boy
  9. He resigned from Lyon in 2007 on the back of two succesive league titles. That is hardly a long time ago. He won two League cups, one FA cup and the UEFA cup while with Liverpool. Only that clubs obsession with winning the Premiership and their belief that they have a divine right to win it led to his exit. His record is one of success wherever he has managed. He'll do for me. None of the other candidates come close to his pedigree.
  10. A mountain of trophies might have something to do with it.
  11. Quote from Eric Pickles " I was a Number Two".... You sure are Eric, you sure are .
  12. Agreed. Pompous is his middle name. A wanabee Tory Bigwig, and is willing to grovel to his "betters" to get there. Lickspittle politician of the worst kind.
  13. So in one region your particular treatment or drugs will be given priority and in another area they will not. A post code lottery for treatment. Exactly what we need to avoid. Treatment should be universally available regardless of where you live. The true reason for fragmenting the service is to make it easier to privatize the NHS by stealth. The Tories opposed the birth of the NHS venemously, they will see its slow dismantling as a long term objective.
  14. How much did the Daily Mail pay you to post that.
  15. Really. Should have gone to Specsavers
  16. Really? I think O'Neills teams play a type of football that would be somewhat limited on the international stage. Watching Villa play can at the best of times be fairly predictable. He has always played a big fella up front with a quick winger to put over crosses. His teams have never played a passing game . His style has been described in some quarters as kick and rush. I don't think he deserves quite such a rigid description, but I certainly think his style of football would be found out by tthe best teams . Personally, I think someone like Moyes could do a good job. He's always got Everton, a team with limited playing resources, to perform to their maximum potential. He is a Jock though :winkold:
  17. and yet widened the poverty gap even further i hope you are a young man I'm old enough to have lived through the horrors of Thatcherism and the suffering it inflicted on our people . What did the Tories ever do for the unemployed or young?Incidentally if crime statistics were collated using the old system of statistical analysis it has dropped, crime, including violent crime has fallen by 41% according to the British crime survey.Since 2002 the police no longer classify a crime as violent, it is now left to the victim to decide. Many more incidents formerly classed as misdemeanours are now classed as violence.True the poverty gap has widened, but that reflects more on Labours failure to redistribute wealth from the rich to the less well off. Incomes have risen at all levels of society though. Do you think the Tories will take from the rich...no neither do I.If you really believe public services have not improved in the last 13 years then just wait for the dismantling of those said services by Cameron and the idiot Osborne.A bunch of greedy bankers almost brought the world economy to the edge of collapse. I for one will not allow a bunch of Labour haters to try and denigrate the great things done for this country by Labour in the last 13 years without instilling some balance.
  18. Hmmm, years of harm. Introduction of minimum wage, ending of long waiting times for health care, up to 2 years under Tories, restoring link to average earnings for old age pensions, schools adequately funded, tax credits introduced to help low paid, winter fuel payments for elderly, free bus passes nationaly for pensioners, doubled the number of child care places, 234,000 appreticeships in 2008/9,as opposed to 75,000 under last Tory Govt.in 1997.banned fox hunting, smoking ban in public places,42,000 more teachers than in 1997,3,700 new or significantly improved schools, rough sleeping has dropped by two thirds, and homelesness is at its lowest level since the 1980's,introduction of the "right to roam" opening up thousands of acres to the British people,20 billion spent bringing social housing up to decent standards, 3 million child trust funds, paternity leave for fathers,a free nursery place for every 3/4 year old, free TV licences for over 75's,...I could go on. We had 13 years of a Government that for all its faults, and no Government is perfect, genuinly tried to bring some fairness, decency and compassion into our country after the dreadful carnage imposed on us by the Tories. I look forward to the next Labour Government.Just hope the current incumbent in Downing st doesn't do too much damage before he's rumbled and dumped.
  19. Rubbish, utter rubbish. I'm not surprised tho, it's the Tory way of creating an unequal Society where only the born wealthy can prosper without worries, and talented individuals from poor backgrounds get deterred by the debt.and how does that tie up with Liebour saddling us all with over a trillion of debt. A debt that we will all have to pay back. Has that created an unequal society do you think? Nothing to do with toxic American loans being traded by greedy bankers then. Dear me Labour caused a worldwide recession all on their own. Your anti Labour agenda shines through yet again.
  20. Our problems pale into insignificance compared to Greece. To say otherwise is simply not true. Indeed Spain and Hungary are now being talked of as the next crisis nations. Labour handled the economy better than most, avoiding the catastrophe that the boy Osborne seems set on initiating. The Tories have but one answer to economic difficulties, its the tactic they have always resorted to, slash and burn and let unemployment rip. Brown presided over the longest sustained period of economic growth in this country in history. Our economy like so many others was undermined by a bunch of greedy bankers from the private financial sector. Brown was able to weather the storm, now the Tories are in , get ready for a hurricane.
  21. Two guys who can't hack it at Spurs...but are good enough for us. Jenas is bloody awful . Bentley hit and miss at best , no thanks to either of them.
  22. I'd like someone who can actually do the job properly. I don't give a toss about £40,000, frankly. In comparison to being more adept at safeguarding the countries economic future, he can have it. Honesty is something you discount at your peril. Claiming £40,000 of taxpayers money that your not entitled to, and then trying to claim it is because of your secret homosexuality is not the behaviour of an honourable man. Turning a blind eye to shady dealings by politicians is a quick way to a corrupt government. Its because our country expects indeed demands propriety from our public servants, that we by and large have one of the less corrupt Parliaments. Take a look at countries where making money under the counter is endemic, Russia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia etc. do we really want to join that club. We have high expectations of our politicians, they don't always live up to that. The cosequences are they pay a penalty. long may it remain so.
  23. Couldn't keep his hands out of the till though could he. I'd prefer a slightly less talented but considerably more honest chap ...whoever that may be.
  24. A marriage made in Hell. They have no common policies at all. This will go belly up, just a question of when. Most Liberals are inherently closer in their beliefs to Labour. This will go down as Cleggs clanger.
  25. Another anonymous performance from Gabby.Cannot remember a single effort on goal from him. Against the better teams, simply being quick isn't enough. Also Petrov, well past his sell by date. We are close to being a top 4 team, just need that quality playmaker and a couple of truly dangerous forwards who can finish teams off once we have them on the backfoot.A tale of what might have been today.
