  1. Well...let put it this way. I rate both managers, but Mourinho for me is in another class...even if I dislike his moaning he is a very highly skilled manager and he has a very good eye for talent. I just think Mourinho is a better manager overall. Put aside all money invested I still think he is one of the best in the world. MON isnt that..he is one of the best in Great Britain and maybe top 20 in Europe...maybe... I would be shocked if Abramovich went for MON..dont think so really...
  2. I believe...as the most...but it isnt a clear run of belief to be honest. MON is a very good manager and probably one of the best to take charge at Villa. I do believe that we´re soon going to have signings on board, but this summer has been a real anti-climax for me. I thought we were to be the talk of the Premier this summer by signing some top class players and really have a go at the top of the Premier. This doesnt seem to happen at all and MON is slowly acting in the transfer market to try and build a team. He seems to have been playing a dangerous game by letting a lot of players leave and not have players coming in. He has left everything painfully late and it will be a bloody nightmare to get players to gel in while we are in the middle of the early season. He should´ve bought players earlier and not put himself and Villa in this awkward situation. I do think it has come down to priorities and one is that he has been stubborn on transfer fees, he might have been taking the task a little bit too easy. Other club managers has been working hard and not bulked at transfer fees because they want to build a team in order to be better prepared for the new season. MON has had since january to find his targets and to bid for them...still we walk into the new season very weak in cover and with a squad looking quite vulnerable for the new season. We need players for the first team...and this is three days before the opening game against Liverpool!! I am a believer that MON gets it right, but he has done some major mistakes this summer..of course in my opinion. You just cant let the squad be down to bare bones and while you´ve had almost 6 months of hunting down targets and two months of the transfer window it is nothing other than poor handling of the transfer dealings. That is my opinion..again..of course. We lost out of Craig Gordon...you ask if he was worth £9m..and I would say probably not...but that is not the point..not the big picture. We have lost out on one of most promising goalkeepers in GB and we have lost him to Sunderland. That gives you a message you arent prepared for tbh...and a real wake up call that Villa still has a lot to do in order to be attractive. I am a believer, but it is not growing stronger...it is getting weaker and weaker by the day when we dont show ambition enough compared to where we want to go with the club.
  3. 8-10 with current squad...top... If we get a few top class signings in before deadline I would think that we have a chance for Europe...but not today. As I see it we have to many question marks and if we get injuries on only 2-3 key players we might struggle big time. We dont have quality cover...what happens when players need a rest? Well...as I said...many question marks that needs to be answered and that is why i pick 8-10 now.
  4. 100% accurate....this was his weakest skills shown last season. He has a good eye for positioning and he is very pacy...but he lacks very much in dribbling, passing and crossing. He seems very easy for defenders to expose and read. Luke Moore is in my eye more a lethal striker. I dont know if I can say he is a better dribbler or passer, but he doesnt play that way as Gabby does. Luke is more a player that shows his skills in the box or closely outside. His eye for goal is better than Gabbys...
  5. Thank you for these answers! Good to know whats first on the agenda... :winkold: It will be absolutely brilliant when I visit Villa Park to see these people of claret and blue run like a well-oiled machine. I hope it will affect the players on the field too! Lovely. I´ve never been at Villa Park...yet there is few places on this earth that I love more...isnt that unbelievable? I´ve been on my way on a few occasions but I have always got something else to disturb my plans. One of the reasons are that my family (wife and three kids) are afraid of letting me leave...because I wouldnt come back. I´ve always said that when I come to Villa Park I´ll put a chain on my wrist and never leave the place! By the way...is there any guided tours at Villa Park for fans from abroad? That would be a dream to not only visit Villa Park looking a game (which is a dream within itself of course) but to actually have a look at the most places at Villa Park?
  6. I voted 4... It is not going as I wished for and thought we were going to work this summer. Nigel Reo Coker Steve Mandanda (as Le Havre almost throwing at us) ? (Luke Young) ? If this is true then I would be hugely disappointed...hugely. Before the transfer window opened I believed we would buy 7-8 players of true quality. Now when it is going so slow and we´re really being outrunned by the most I fear we will lose out on our main targets and we have to settle, as usual, for second best. Nothing wrong with NRC or Luke Young...but they doesnt represent the class I was led to believe we would go for...and neither what I believe myself would give us a ticket to Europe. It is just not good enough... I can say that I wish I´ll be proven wrong...and by far too...
  7. Brilliantly put and it all make me proud to hear that the club understands that all comments about the club can be a benefit and a small pointer where the wind is going. I am very happy with how the clubs fortunes off the field is moving on and your work is second to none as far as I know. However, I am one of those who has high expectations about where our squad is heading this summer and it isnt really anything strange with that because it is the team of players that makes Aston Villa FC. If we have the best things a football club can have off the field it really doesnt give much if we have a squad that cant hold same quality or level. I am a huge fan of Aston Villa FC and have been since I was 7 years old (42 yo now) and I wish the very best for the club and I am as passionate as anyone about the club. I hope that we will see signings for the squad that equals your goal and work for the off field issues. I know you cant answer to this but I just wanted to say that despite me being critical at times when it comes to signing players (or the lack of it), I do recognize the brilliant work that is being done about the overall picture at Aston Villa FC and Villa Park. On the off field issue...what is being done as number one-two-three most important improvements at the moment? I know that there is a million things on your agenda but it would be nice to know what is the priorities now. If you already answered that adn I´ve missed it I apologize.
  8. Congrats General! That is a very very good number...15.636! Wow! What was, or is, your calculation for coming season?
  9. And your source is the Daily Star/BBC Gossip Column. Which doesn't even know how old he is. And clearly nor do you. So why dont you tell me instead of being such a ass? You are constantly hunting me around in post trying to make fun of me or to bully me around and I am getting really fed up with your attitude! They probably mixed up Darren with Marcus and Darren is 23...so how difficult is it to write that without trying to be such a besserwisser all the time?
  10. Its not a done deal yet, but I told you that he was going to West Ham. However...for 80 grand per week and a fee of £18m it is way off his value really. The player is 28. I know he is something special and a very skilled striker. I´m impressed by West Ham ambition to improve and to improve hugely. There is no doubt that they do what they can to make a mark in Premier and they will be a very much better side with players like Parker and Bent. It looks like Tevez is getting sold soon...so he wont be at West Ham. That sounds good because a striker pair of Tevez and Bent would be a real threat to our euro ambitions.
  11. I am not sure about Gabby really. He doesnt seem like an out and out striker to me. Not as an 20 goals per season striker anyway. I should say that Luke Moore has a better chance of getting there...
  12. I dont think that Gudjohnsen will cost £8m...if he goes to another club I think he has a price tag of £5m now. I wouldnt mind Belletti...or Deco. :winkold:
  13. kkr: Leave it ok. There is no need to rub it in...unnecessary and it gives proof for my feelings that it is hard to discuss with you on this forum because you´re not that objective. I was wrong in this but I was not alone...however...I was wrong and I admit it. Lets move on. WOW! team member nr 3 comes along..welcome LukeMoore! :winkold: That is right...I dont see myself as any different when it comes to believing rumours...but I usually dont make them up or put them on just to prove my point only. I often accept that I was wrong...but I do seem to be very much alone on this site admitting it even though there are proof beyond reasonable doubt that MANY are wrong on occasions. As I said... Lets move on.
  14. When did you come into the discussion and when did I compete against a team in a discussion? Dont come on and write one post in the afternoon only to be insluting and bullish! I´ve not seen you at all in the last pages so why come now?
  15. Admit what, that i was correct?! Ok im sorry i was right. Anyway this is pointless because my initial point was to get across that our signings in January had many interesting alternatives than the Villa and that over the summer this will be the case again, which is most likely why it is taking so long for us to see any signings materialise. That and wham being arseholes! This is not correct really. You are judging a player by what clubs he attracts. Why cant we be interested in players that doesnt attract the bigger boys? And what I was saying before is that we have bought players in the history that hasnt been attracted big clubs at that moment. I understand that you have problem admit to any wrongdoing or any case of misunderstanding...you seem so perfect. Please have a discussion without being a bully!
  16. Well...I stand corrected in that case. You should also admit something but I guess you´ll never will. Still..that leaves the deals of Young and Maloney.
  17. So the fact that Carew decided to come to us rather than Bundesliga-challenging Werder Bremen is a good thing, no? Is it a fact that Werder Bremen wanted him at that time or was it just rumours?
  18. So six premiership teams that all wanted Ashley Young is not competition? A team in the Champions League that wanted Carew is not competition? Ok...when did we have competition about Carew? You cant bring in a club that shown interest six months before we bought him. When the Carew deal was done and dusted it took everyone with surprise and I didnt hear anything about competition. All of a sudden you believe in rumours...only when it fits your opinion? Lay it to rest now...you made your point and I made mine.
  19. I perfectly understand what you mean but it was just written in a strange way. We´ve bought players that has been good without having competition from big clubs. You cant reject a player because he is not been wanted by big clubs. The player might not suit those clubs that have problems in that area or the clubs are generally happy with what they got...so that can sometimes leave us alone in bidding...as a bigger club. Werder Bremen is a big club..in Germany. If you look at Europe they go down the pecking order quite a bit. The club has attracted players of high profile for maybe 3-4 years now as the club has changed a lot and really challenge for Bundesliga title. The club hasnt been that big before... Elmander. It seems that he is on his way to Juventus, but I would say he would be a great asset to us if MON were interested. He is unique and has attributes of a star player. One of the best coming from Sweden in recent years. Has been a revelation in the national team and always gives 100%. Very popular among players and managers he´s been playing with.
  20. Tottenham are bigger than boro and sha, probably wham also and we beat them to Young. Werder Bremen were also in for Carew so we beat out a Champions League team there also. There WAS interest from big clubs in those players. FACT! You know what I mean with big clubs and you know that I know what you meant by that too...so...do you know...there wasnt BIG clubs in for them...FACT! But there was i just pointed them out! You are confusing big clubs with huge clubs! Jesus what a fabrication because you were found out with your pants down! Whats next? Mega clubs is bigger than huge clubs?

  23. for 1.5m i would carry him here! imagine signing Tuncay and Giuly for a combined fee of 1.5m!! or NRC,Tuncay and Giuly for a combined fee of 8.5m!! feck me im salivating now! ive a feeling that the 1.5m is quite a way off the real fee though Sanil Tuncay is a sha target, they are leading the chase for him. Why would we want someone that is attracting attention from boro and sha? Surely if he was so great there would be bigger clubs in for him? :? Well..you can put it like this...why wasnt the big clubs interested in Young, Carew and Maloney? And why did we buy them when we didnt have competition for their signings from the big clubs?
