  1. Can't see us winning this one but a point would be ok. Come on Villa!!!!
  2. I think we've been crap for long enough this season to stop assuming that we should beat teams like Wigan. We're down there for a reason and have not played well at all this year. I'm not confident about this but really want us to win for two reasons. 1) To ease my worrying about us going down. 2) To participate in a Summer Transfer Thread on the main forum board.
  3. Moyes should be our No. 1 target. Lambert has the potential to be very good but we need a proven Premiership manager who is passionate and hasn't been out of the game for years. Allardyce - **** Off Hughes - 2nd choice to Moyes, but by quite some distance Lambert - Too inexperienced considering our squad needs gutting and completely rebuilding. Jol - Been away from the Premier League for a while. Not really sure. Moyes was my 1st choice when MON walked and is again. Hopefully Everton can then go after MON and everyone will be happy.
  4. Most important game of the season. We need to show some dominance and actually batter a team at home this season. Although I'd take a point as that would pretty much guarantee our survival.
  5. I think any new manager coming in will be given time by the fans as long as he doesn't drop massive clangers like spunking on the Liverpool sign and also underselling our club despite 3 consecutive Top 6 finishes. Although to be fair you won't really be able to undersell a squad that finishes 13th or below.
  6. Yeah sure a manager who is trying to grow into the roll will be given time by our fickle fans? Can't see anyone given time by some of our fanbase, they will be on his back if he loses the first 2 games. This is true. At the end of the day it should be who is best for Aston Villa and not who is the best manager or who the fans want. Agreed. However it is the people who decide who the best man for Villa is that concerns me. After the Houllier appointment will we go for another experienced head or an up and coming manager with BIG ideas.
  7. Steve Bruce would definitely come to Villa. Especially as we now have Darren Bent who is nobbing his daughter.
  8. To be fair Lambert has got Norwich back to back promotions. He has also done it with stlye and does not have small man syndrome.
  9. Surely the financial fair play rules only count if we are in Uefa competitions? Therefore, it's irrelevant how much we spend on transfers in the summer as we are not in Europe but the important thing is ensuring that we sort out wage budget out so that if we do find ourselves back up the league next season we meet the criteria for the following year. We need Moyes or Hughes to come in. Either would be excellent and would really sort our squad out.
  10. If we lose against Wigan I can see us being in trouble again. This season just seems to be full of coincedences that will eventually lead to the unthinkable. 1) Silly points dropped very, very, very late in games. i.e Stoke & Fulham to name just two. 2) Failing to get anything against teams with 10 men. i.e Today and Spurs at Home. 3) Just when things pick up GH has a massive medical scare and is out for the rest of the season meaning that useless **** McAllister is in charge. I have no hope for our last 2 games so we have to get a point next week or else I think we could be ****.
  11. On the plus side at least Wigan & Blackpool dropped points and I will actually be routing for Blues tomorrow against Wolves and Man City against West Ham. With those results Wolves would be on 8 behind with 3 to play, and West Ham would be 9 behind with 3 to play. Then if we can at least get a point next week we will be safe. I'm not normally this unambitious but this season is the biggest joke in our history. GH couldn't help his medical condition but it's sods **** law that we end up with GMAC in charge for the remaining games of the season. Arsenal and Liverpool are going to shit all over us at this rate so next weeks game is vital. Bet we manage to **** it up.
  12. This is jsut **** ridiculous now. Another lead thrown away and once again we lost against 10 men. I'd tell GMAC to **** off now cos he is **** poison. Stupid prick. Pires is also useless. We have a squad containing the likes of Delph, Bradley & Bannan and he chooses to bring on Pires. For ****'s sake he is a waste of space.
  13. I would not want Benitez. The reason he was so successful at Liverpool was because he had a spine of massively determined passionate players in Hyppia, Carragher, Kuyt & Gerrard plus others who fight for everything. We have had a terrible season because our squad is riddled with players who can not motivate themselves and another manager who plays hardball and causes a collision of ego's will not be good. That's why we were so effective under a motivator like MON and we should look for a similar kind of manager if GH decides to hang up his beret. Unless we gut our squad of the likes of Warnock, Ireland, Beye, Salifou, Osbourne and any other player who can not motivate themselves to fight for our club we should not be looking at manager's with big ego's, otherwise this season will repeat itself again next year. Moyes would be my preference as manager, followed by Hughes and Coyle. If we are to be the BIG club Randy wants us to be we should not be afraid to poach a manager from another team. Any other club in the top 10 would do exactly that.
  14. I would certainly drop Heskey but unsure whether Gabby or Delph would be the better option. If we play Delph we will have more options in CM. However Gabby's pace away from home really causes opposing defenders problems. Odemwingie will be utilised for exactly that reason today and we need to counter their pace with our own. Push their players back into their own half and attack. Although we beat West Ham and played well it would be nice if we could really batter a team away from home this season.
  15. But some of the comments on here seem to be pointing the finger at GH as opposed to Ireland. The only way Moyes, or whoever takes over (if anyone) from GH, will get Ireland firing is if the player pulls his finger out of his arse and actually tries. Originally I felt sorry for him for not being given a chance at Villa but he clearly doesn't give a shit about football.
  16. That there Villas-Boas chap at Porto looks pretty handy. However David Moyes would be my choice and I believe that we will move for him in the summer.
  17. Happy with a point. Everyone is talking about how teams on 40 points are safe and having run the BBC predictor a few times 41 points is just enough should pretty much every result go against us and we lose our remaining 4 games. However, as we are Aston Villa I am taking nothing for granted. Get Makoun or Delph in a 3 man midfield for the next game away to WBA and lets see if we can pick up at least another point.
  18. I will take a point but it's good to read that GH has been up picking the team and structuring training from his bedside. The less GMAC has to do the better. If we can just win this game we can really start to plan for the summer revamp.
  19. Is that the 1st time this season we've won after going behind first?
  20. I'd be very happy with a point on this one. We're away from home and we're against a relegation rival. Saying that surely we are going to batter someone away from home at some point this season. As it's unlikely to be Arsenal hopefully we can either win convinvingly tomorrow or at West Brom.
  21. If we can take the chances we create, against a West Ham defence who are not playing well, we could win this one. But a point would be excellent. Fingers crossed we can build on the clean sheet from Sunday. Spent most of the day thinking how brilliant it would be to win and be on 40 points and potentially top half of the table. Wishful thinking but there you go.
  22. Newcastle have already had their payback after smashing us 6-0 earlier this season. Plus we're at Villa Park so we need to outsing them. This is the most important game of our season. We need a victory to capitalise on our rivals results yesterday. However everytime we have needed a result we always cock it up. I'm still sticking with my view that anything but a victory will make GH's position untenable, especially with Lerner at the game today. Come on GH, prove to us why we waited 3 weeks to get you in the VP hotseat.
  23. Must win. Anything else would be catastrophic. I don't expect us to win all 3 of our home games against Newcastle, Stoke and Wigan but we need at least 7 points and a draw or worse would be terrible. 3-1 Villa I think.
  24. I think Bradley needs to be given a chance. He seems like the sort of player who never gives up. If we can get his fight and winning mentality in our midfield things would pick up IMO. I would still have Makoun in there but with Delph/Petrov and Bradley in a 3. Would even drop Gabby and move to a 4-3-3 using Downing and Young as wingers.
  25. Lambert is the man I would want to take over at Villa regardless of whether we stay up or not this season. We are a massive club and will still be a massive club even if we are relegated. There will be plenty of manager's who could take us back to the Premiership if the unthinkable happens.
