  1. Nope it's been said since it became apparent this was the plan to the fans as we don't get communicated to by the top brass as fans. That has been about 2 years and it hasn't been said each summer there is a specific reason why it would be this summer like I and many others have said there will be nothing to hide behind if it doesn't happen before September 1st 2014 as none of us can imagine we aren't making enough to cover the said 20m a year as a club without owner funding. Also why did the club oppose FFP if it didn't plan to spend as much as possible?
  2. The fact we are giving him a new deal shows he has met his remit for this phase of their plan. Yea so in short wait and see which has been said all along until this summer.....
  3. Yes, no reason to believe otherwise. We all know what you think.
  4. Missed the point completely and people have been talking of 60/70 over 7 years aka 10m a year.
  5. I said staying up AND getting more points than last year. I don't know how you can expect big progress without investing in say 4 players of 5m each. I also don't get how people don't get that we having been padding out a squad whilst getting rid of the past wastes on high wages to move forward as a club without ruining ourselves of FFP. criticize me all you like but I know my way will work IF that is the plan which you will see in the summer if Lerner gives Lambert the same budget then tick for him and if Lambert doesn't spending it on another 7 players (not bringing higher quality in) tick for him as far as the plan goes. whether his buys will be any good in the summer will be another matter.
  6. If we did get Benteke sold in the summer and added his 20 - 30m fee to our budget it would probably move us forward short term (next two years)
  7. Yep season isn't over progression is made by staying up, finishing with more points whilst cutting the bomb squad out which lambert will have to add a few of his signings on to.
  8. So what is being said is it may be worth 10m a season but you wouldn't do it because a manager could just spunk it up the wall....... How is that different to any transfer budget? If everyone is doing it we will have to anyway just to keep up. Get with the program.
  9. I think Lambert this season and last has fulfilled his remit.
  10. Not every signing strengthens the squad when you buy players to fill out the squad or of course you buy badly.
  11. Once the seven have come in as long as the ones I marked to stay play at the same level they already do.
  12. GK is fine. Sell Given no replacement needed. Need a new left back and Bertrand would be fine if available. Sell Bennett New right back first 11 quality. Sell Hutton. New Centre back first 11 quality leaving Okore to fight for a starting place and having Clark and Baker as backup. Sell Herd New attacking and defensive midfielder. Keep Albrighton, Delph, Westwood, N'Zogbia and Bacuna. Sell Tonev, El Ahmadi, Sylla. Two new WIDE forwards (Someone like Nani but not Nani of course) Keep Benteke, Agbonlahor, Weimann, Kozak. Sell Bowrey and Helenius. I obviously don't expect us to buy 7 new players of good first 11 quality but getting 3 in will make a big improvement leaving the rest to come in a year later. I believe this would make us a very competitive side that would be capable of finishing somewhere between 6th and 8th.
  13. Shearer, we were linked with a 20m bid around 2000 we could have really moved on with his goals in that team (not that he would have left Newcastle) and could have ended up as one of the big teams now
  14. I don't doubt people will break the rules and get away with it at first but I also believe they will tighten it quickly and make an example within a few years of the first rule breakers. I don't want that to be us.
  15. John, Firstly Ireland was a like for like swap with Milner in Faulkner's head whist making 18m in cash I would call that cutting back. N'Zogbia was brought for less than half the price of Downing as a replacement that is again a saving at the time. Bent was brought to score some goals to keep us up again you can see the reason behind it. Where it becomes odd is Given, Makoun and Hutton. What smacks you between the eyes though is how poor those players turned out to be but that is neither here or there we are talking hindsight again. That aside the point I was making earlier was the players being sold/released before Lambert was here. Villarocker, That was a LOW blow Nerumburg, It's a 45m euro loss over 3 years IF the owner puts the money into the club to cover it, if not it is 5m! In the premier league it is 105M pounds over 3 years if the owner puts the money in, I cant remember the exact figure if he doesn't but 15m is ringing a bell in my head. So with that in mind you can see the significance. Penguin, Bit off topic but it's better late than never we cant keep going on with clubs not being run sustainably and competitions so open to some billionaires wishes.
  16. Also John it's about moving forward not looking back and it has been for a couple of years now not defending.
  17. John, The drastic action started as soon as MON left! Think of all the players who left BEFORE Lambert got the job. Slow cuts would have meant two things 1, Huge losses would have continued 2, We wouldn't be FFP compliant. Sexbelowsound, That is a lack of communication all fans would like rectified but it has been obvious for the last 2 and a half of the 3 and half seasons since MON left that was the plan.
  18. John we have addressed the wage bill, hired an appropriate manager for the job and slow cuts weren't an option as we were losing way too much money. As for Hutton, N'Zogbia and Given only the former and the later were dumb decisions that people could have predicted before signing them. I believe AMC was brought in to take the flack of cuts if honest. Hindsight is wonderful. As for mistakes shrugged off, what would you prefer we all wallow in self pity or sort it out?
  19. I agree villabromsgrove all that matters is what happens today and the future as the past is gone.
  20. You told me what we shouldn't have done not what we should have. It's so easy to be negative give realistic detailed plans what should have been done when MON left. Before that he did what he felt best to break the top 4 realised it wasn't going to happen and that it he rolled the dice, lost and redrew the plans and because of that MON walked we all know this so it is about the point he left plans from there please.
  21. That would lead me back to the question no one would answer previously what SHOULD have been done, how would it have been paid for and how would it fit with FFP?
  22. So anyone unhappy doesn't support the club? Adjusted expectations when starting a new way of working is to be expected. I expected things to get worse before they get better, I expect few players of a higher value to come in the summer. If that doesn't happen I wont be happy and depending on what happens I will know to blame Lerner or Lambert.
  23. My view is we should have finished with 5 or 10 points more than last season which doesn't look like that will be done but the larger project is still on course to be moved on in the summer. The fans should be on board when they see the larger value players coming in.
