  1. I'd rather it's a loan. At least then we'd only be stuck with him for 1 season
  2. Well, apperently he's kind of a dick...
  3. Routledge and Walker as well Oh god! Routledge... At least Walker worked out for both clubs
  4. Alan Hutton, Jermaine Jenas and now Danny Rose? We really need to stop doing Tottenham favours. Thank god Ledley King has retired otherwise im sure we'd loan him just for the honour of footing his medical bills
  5. Do you reakon if we say it enough times and tweet and facebook the official club profiles then they will sign him? The legend claims that Van Wolfswinkel is summoned by anyone who looks into a mirror and chants his name five times
  6. I do believe that if it was McLeish bidding £13 million for a Scottish striker from Wolves with 8 caps then people would be absolutely livid and trying to overtrump each other with insults over how stupid this signing would be. This transferstory reeks of MON and is all to familiar. He's not a bad player, but the money involved are just silly
  7. At 23 he's hardly a youngster anymore is he? But he's more than ok for a squad player
  8. i'd say had rather than have zero confidence. the point abotu our squad being better in every department to what norwich had at their disposal is a very good one. i take it you don't rate any of the youngsters then? Very much up in the air about the "youngsters" I still rate Clark, Weimann & Gardner. The rest can hardly be called youngsters anymore and the kids from the next generation are hardly ready to make an impact this season. The fact that the Norwich squad had played togheter under Lambert and were high on confidence partly makes up for the lack of quality as i see it. But yeah our squad is probably better than the Norwich squad of last season
  9. I would certainly hope it is. They were running high on excitement and adrenaline. Our team have zero confidence and is once again being rebuilt under a new manager.
  10. Is the Wet Spam game the end of the window then? Nope, but the points dropped or won before the window closes still counts at the end of the season we have a better squad already than last year, with the additions of KEA and Vlaar. we have a manager who will play to the strenghts of ireland and zog and bent, and not accentuate their weaknesses. the youngsters are a year older and will give us more strength in depth too. even being pessimistic i'd expect us to better last season by at least 9 points, which will see us safely mid table i'd reckon. being realistic, even without additions to the squad i reckon we'll be top half. Sure hope your right, not in my nature to be optimistic thou... I see us struggling if we not seriously strengthen the starting 11
  11. Is the Wet Spam game the end of the window then? Nope, but the points dropped or won before the window closes still counts at the end of the season
  12. The fact that we seem to be signing the same players Lambert scouted when he was scouting for Norwich is a bit worrying to me. It indicates a lack of ambition and funds from Lerner. Im happy enough with KEA and Vlaar, but the rest of the players we're linked with are Championship level players. I was hoping we aimed a bit higher then just survival and saving money. The last few seasons have made me cynical and pessimistic and perhaps the coming weeks will bring quality players and Lambert will indeed turn out to one of the best new managers in the game. But im seriously worried
  13. All of those players are unproven at this level. I think we need a couple of players of proven quality now. One in CM and another up front. ^^^^This^^^^
  14. Well combined with the last seasons and that both our defence and midfield still looks very lightweight i'd still say we'll really struggle against the better sides and against the teams that play oldschool physical brittish football. Im really worried, but i still hope we sign at least 2 players that will walk straight into the staring 11
  15. True, nothing really to support that we're after him. Then again it would be very strange if we weren't considering we need another striker, scouted the Dutch league and Feyenoord pretty heavilly and he was very very impressive last season. He's also among the most exciting young players in Europe and avaliable for a modest fee if you belive the reports.
  16. Seconded! I´d be gutted if Guidetti ends up at Sunderland and with O'Neill who i loathe more than anyone (including McLeish) in Brittish football.
  17. To be honest im more worried about the players that were already at the club. We all hope it was McLeish who made them underperform, and i some cases that's probably right. But i just don't think they are good or devoted enough.
  18. ATM, League: 14th FA Cup: 4th Round League Cup: Qtr Final But i hope and expect us to improve the team a lot untill the window closes...
  19. Sorry if already posted but suggested target Rondon (Malaga) has supposedly signed for Rubin Kazan
  20. I don't think people are that worried about loosing a pre season game to Nottingham. I think they are worried about having sold our best players over the last couple of years and failed to replace them. Having horrid seasons under useless managers and almost getting relegated. The uncertainty about our owner and his dedication to the club and how much money will be availiable to rebuild the squad. Some, like me might even be worried about if Lambert will be able to turn this club around or if he will be yet another one of those managers who after a impressing first season in the PL struggles the following season. They are worried about if our "young" players will finally step up or as this is most likelly their last chanse to shine in a Villa shirt. After what has happened at our club in the last couple of seasons people are worried about pretty much everything (can't say i blame them) ...and then loosing a pre season game to Nottingham.
  21. Not to fan the flames or anything, but is there anyone at our club that is good enough to get in the Schalke 04 starting eleven at the moment?
  22. I know some people on here are firmly against loan deals, and i do see the point they are making. I'ts a quick short term fix that might end up benefitting the other team more than us. I agree we ideally should not loan players from team like Tottenhan, Arsenal or Newcastle. But teams like Chelsea, City and United are so far ahead of us we are not really competing with them anymore. If it's possible to get loan deals for John Guidetti or Romelu Lukaku then i think we should try now that money seems to be needed elswere. Of course an option to buy would be preferable but i doubt than can be done with Lukaku, maybe with Guidetti
  23. No, but we have to be realistic and accept that this is a budget squad that Lambert and Lerner is putting together, and it is a fair acessment that Lerner is keeping a close eye on the dealings so the cost doesn't spiral out of hand again. Maybee not sell to buy, but something along those lines
