  1. Interesting. I do similar changes, but in a different way. I get by taking 2-3 exposures, then combining to bring the best out of each exposure. Sometimes it looks very good, but not always. The grad filter you put on looks to have worked really good. The sky is not only dark but filled with color. I don't mind edited photos. A mate of mine bought a filter system that he screws onto his lens. He can slide in multiple filters, he has whole case of different ones, some graduated. The images he takes now are just fantastic, but if you can't afford, or don't want to carry 10 kg of equipment with you, photoshop can be your friend.
  2. Very nice, bickster. did you use filters on that one?
  3. Agree completely. Loved it like no other film.
  4. Thanks! It's a hard choice I must say. Think they all come with cover. Dimensions seems to be ideal with the lowepro bags. I'm also liking the fact that they have a way to fasten a tripod on the back. The vertex also have a clever filter holder and I learned the importance of that today. I was pulling out something from my carry-on and my polarizer got tangled up with a cable and when I pulled it out the filter went flying with it and shattered when it hit the ground. Cost me over £100
  5. Could any of you guys recommend a backpack? I'm looking for something that can fit a camera, a few lenses and other gear, but also a 15.6" laptop. Needs to be waterproof, or with built in cover. Basically I want a backpack that I can use for school, travelling and hiking Been looking at these CompuTrekker-Plus-AW CompuTrekker-AW Vertex-200-AW The Big Cheese They look to fit the bill, particularly the Crumpler bag, only problem is it can not fit a laptop thicker than 2.5cm, so I think I might go for one of the Lowepro bags.

  7. Thanks! I feel it's impossible to set a price. I have no clue whatsoever of their worth. They told me the standard prize they pay is about £55 per image, but that I should suggest a price.
  8. No one has an opinion? Heading down to meet them tomorrow..
  9. Bickster, I really like the pictures you posted two pages back. I have a question about selling pictures I feel I've come along way since I got the d60 back in april, but I'm still a newbie at this. I've taken alot of long exposure shots of landscapes/coastline with the sun setting in the area where I live. I was contacted by a local marketing bureau yesterday and they wanted to buy some of my pics. I'm wondering what I should charge for it? I think they want to use them for a calendar at first, but they want to have free use of the pictures they buy, although I still retain the right to use them as I please, as I understood it. The pictures are timeless, and I think they will be just as usable many years from now. It's a small bureau though, and they operate mostly locally. I've only taken pictures for half a year so this is obviously something I'm very pleased about and I'm just glad someone is enjoying them and I want to get them out there and not scare away people with crazy prices. I sold 4 copies pictures in 45x30cm to a colleague for 600kr (about £50) in total (my cost were 250). I think that's very cheap, but I was just glad she wanted them. 10. I've been reading a bit in a book by John Freeman. This one.
  11. That would be interesting. I haven't had time to read much about anything yet, with a house full of kids this easter, but I've played around abit with shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Not that I've had any luck yet, hehe. I'm very pleased with the camera. Can't wait for summer! That did the trick, thanks
  12. Not sure what you mean by either really. I think lots is lost in translation. I'm not sure of the terms in my native language nevermind in english. When I half press the shutter release the camera automaticly picks a focus points. Sometimes, if I press a 2nd or 3rd time, it will chose the next focus point, but at times it seems impossible to pick the focus point I want. When I set it to manually set the focus point, I can half press the shutter release, then press left or right to change focus. I like this, but every time I take a picture it's reset. Dunno, but it feels like I'm missing some easy trick.
  13. Just starting to get into this. It's a bit confusing, and for some reason whatever changes I make to the settings is reset after I've taken one photo (not the shutter speed, but in example I want to be able to manually set the focus point and release mode). I will have a look, thanks. I got a Scandisc ultra 2 GB card. It says 15mb/s. Not sure if that's fast, but I asked the seller for the fastest card they had. I'm definitely pleased with how little time it takes from snapping a photo until it's display. I have it set at large, with fine quality (7.3 MB, I think) and it takes less than a second.
  14. I bought it yesterday (with the 18-55 II kit). I got lucky as a local shop had it £25% off this week. I like it a lot but I'm struggling indoors. The blitz is not good, but if I leave it off I struggle. I guess I have to play around with it until I can find a way. It's sure is great fun getting into this, but the manual is scary. 203 pages!
  15. Notice the amount of photographers More pictures from the G20-summit
  16. I'm looking forward to the series from The Big Picture. I'm sure it'll be covered there. Brilliant site, by the way.
  17. I like what I'm reading about it, so I think I will go for Nikon D60 and just get the kit for now. Thank you, both. What lenses did you get, drat?
  18. I read some reviews. It certainly comes highly recommended and a bit cheaper than the 450d. The lens looks poor though, not that I'm an expert. Is it sufficient? The one I'm looking at is 18 mm - 55 mm - f/3.5-5.6. 18-55 is fine I suppose, not really sure what would be the best for my use, but my brother said that if I wanted good indoor pictures I should look for lower numbers on the latter (can't think of the english word for it but I mean the number that describers how much light gets through it), but I guess I have to pay a lot more then?
  19. I'm thinking about buying a camera, but I hope I don't have to read the whole thread to find out which one? I'll probably get Canon eos 350 or 400, perhaps 450 if I can find a cheap one. If I go for one of them I guess my options are that I buy it without the lens that comes with it and get a better one. But what lens do I pick? Or perhaps it would be better to buy it with the lens, then replace it when I know more about what I need. I'm not sure how much I will use it but I expect I will use indoors as well as outdoors. Probably an all-rounder, if there is such a thing
  20. It might be a long wait, especially if you're in the UK and don't have an eye-patch. There's an unconfirmed rumor (afaik) that it will air in 2009 (on Channel 7), but it's officially meant to be released sometime in 2010. Wiki refers to The Sydney Morning Herald as a source, but there's no online article. Filming was done last summer, so I guess one can hope the rumor is true.
