  1. Unai has been inspirational since he joined, honestly think he should be manager of the season, even without my claret and blue glasses on. To take a team that was, frankly, a relegation candidate and get us to Europe, second only to Man City in 2023 is phenomenal achievement. With the full backing of Villa, from fans to players and owners, I really feel the sky is the limit. So exciting
  2. On my way to my mates wedding in Lewes, a fellow Villa fan (with a terribly timed wedding, if ever there was one.) I'm running super late after taking my time to revel in the absolutely epic day today turned out to be. It really is hard to believe, from relegation form to Europe in just a few short months. The whole team should rightly be proud of the effort, and the manager, well, what a legend in the making. I've followed villa closely since the early 90's, including having a season ticket in 96. (I'm on the wait list again now) and I've seen what in retrospect have been a few false dawns. This feels different, like it could become something truly special. Never had such confidence in a manager, he could probably walk on water if he tried. What a great end to the season, I really cannot wait until the next now
  3. Delighted with this, what a way to finish, so chuffed we saw it through. Nervous as hell going into the second half but we bossed it really. Can’t wait for next season now, Europe here we come!
  4. Good half to be fair, Brighton are a good side. Two great goals. Their goal could easily have been ruled out, and I'm also not sure that they should have had the free kick in the first place, could have gone either way as Mings clearly got the ball. Worried about all our yellows, the ref seems all over the place. Half time was needed for Unai to work his magic. Excited but also bricking it for the second half. The beer is going down far too quickly.
  5. Such a shame, got very excited for a moment, looks like Brighton have this in the bag now
  6. Mings display today was collosal, absolutely dominated. It would have been a travesty if he was sent off, glad the officials got that one right. He's getting close to legend status in my books
  7. Epic result, disappointing not to get all the points but that was a very, very impressive display.
  8. It's a tough watch this but loving it. Whatever happens super proud of this team. Would be massive if we can hold on to this, but for sure, we are "holding on" and I'm absolutely bricking it
  9. Absolute class today from start to finish. Super John McGinn is well and truly back. Not just at the level he was playing in the Championship but a step above today, and at a higher level. If he keeps this up and stays with us / we go on to achieve what it feels we can in the coming years, he could well make legendary status in my book. Absolutely love the guy.
  10. Such a shame after our epic run of late to loose to these lot, but as others have said we gave it a good go 2nd half and they couldn’t have argued if we’d got one back. Europe still on for me, trust Unai to pick them up and have the team right at it against Wolves. Fancy us to grab three point there and then on to Spurs, who we should have as well. Forgot how it felt to loose a little and not very happy, but stepping back, we’re still in a better place than we have been for years. And I’m still feeling good about our chances for the rest of the season
  11. Trying not to get too down about this, we’ve been on a great run and still in this game. Reckon we’ve go t a goal in us. Having said that, while I do like Buendia but he’s been awful today
  12. Love that we are winning, and have been controlling the gane largely, but its pretty tepid stuff. Still keeping the faith but worried we're not working harder to put it to bed, and been a bit sloppy in the 2nd half
  13. Thought he was quality today, definate MoM from me. Agree it's time this man had a chant. Not sure if any posted here have ever made it onto the terraces, but how about this (to the tune of Watch Out by Alex Gaudino) Douglas Luiz, Midfield Marauder Douglas Luiz, he scores from Corners, Douglas Luiz, Villa Baller Doug-D-Doug-Doug-D-Doug-Doug-Doug-Doug
  14. Honestly think some are being a bit hard on Coutinho, he's been unlucky with injuries this season, and no one played well under Gerrard. I'd still like to see what he can do under a proper coach / manager - he was class in his day maybe Emery can get him back to those levels? If he did we'd have a hell of a player, and he's surely still got some decent years ahead if he looks after himself? Utlimately, whatever Emery decides goes and I'll back it 100% if he wants to move him on, but wouldn't be so quick to write him off personally!
  15. Massive performance and massive result. Literally in dream land! As many others have said, that was a complete team performance, every single one of them 8/10 or more. Gave my MoM to Watkins, can’t remember a more complete performance from a Villa striker in the last 20 odd years, unplayable and kept at it, only disappointment is that he didn’t get 3, because he deserved it. Massive credit is also due to Moreno, dominated down the left hand side, didn’t put a foot wrong. It wasn’t long ago that a high press destroyed us, we couldn’t deal with it, now it feels like teams are playing into our hand when they try it. Delightful. I was planning on doing some work today but that’s out of the window, enjoying some beers instead! Thanks Villa legends and thanks Super Unai Emery, what a season it’s turning out to be.
  16. Not the best game to watch and we were not at our best, but I'd have bitten your hand off for that result if you'd asked me before the game. Become accustomed to us slipping on such Bannana skins over the years, Emery really is molding us into a different beast entirely - and I for one am absolutely loving it!
  17. It does feel like we could do with some fresh legs, but honestly what do I know, in Emery we trust.
  18. Traore = wizard Love it, what a way to stake your claim for a place in the team. COYVB!
  19. Very ponderous first half, crowd seems pretty flat as well. Hopefully Super Unai can work his mastery and lift us for the 2nd half
  20. I'm a long term Villa fan, 42 year old one time season ticket holder in the Holte when I was 17, these days one of the many on the season ticket wait list. Based in Brighton UK. Love to attempt to make up new chants, though most not good - have one for Ashley Young potentially, to the theme of forever young, Forever Young, Ashley Youngs forever young, quickly becoming a Villa legend, it's Ashley Young, forever young.
