St.Mirren have a wee thread on Twitter just now where players, since the club was formed, until now are featured alongwith their honours whilst at Saints. Look whose turn it was today……

He was hounded out of St.Mirren as we couldn’t get shorts to fit him, ate too many chips in the canteen, dressed up as a Pelican from time to time and played one floaty Hollywood ball too many. Took a wee step down by going to Hibs before moving to Villa.

Got a mate who's a Leicester season ticket holder.  He said he'd have McGinn over Tielemans all day.  Says Tielemans goes missing every match, but scores the odd long range goal and all of a sudden people think he's great.

Other players always seem better than our players as you see them in a highlights package where they always seem to be doing something good. An assist/goal etc. If you watched these guys like Tielemans for 90 mins, week in, week out, people might not think they were so great.

After every match you can come on here and SJM is getting pelters from a large number of fans yet last night on Sky the put up some stats where he was first in every category. I assume it was at the club not in the league but I think is shows that a lot of fans havent got the first clue about football 😀

It’s my opinion that forums like this give a voice to the noisy minority. Think the vast majority of Villa fans are behind SJM. It’s the same with all social media. Unless someone has an absolutely brilliant game, people generally post negative points about a player. If you read this read, it looks like Villa fans are trying to chase McGinn out the door but I think the reality is different.

Was just about to write this must be the weakest Europa League final ever, then I looked back and found finals between Shakhtar-Werder Bremen and Sevilla-Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

It could have been a Barca v Dortmund final but they weren’t good enough to get that far. Frankfurt and Rangers are there because they are best teams in the competition. The Champions League teams are no different from the teams that have competed for the Europa League other than the usual suspects of City, Liverpool, Madrid, Chelsea, Athletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, in my opinion. Leipzig were semi finalists a year or so ago in CL and Rangers put them away. I honestly don’t believe they get the credit they deserve for what they have achieved.

It’s a massive occasion for both teams and clubs, nerves are expected.

Plus, they aren’t elite teams and it isn’t an elite competition. That being said I’ve enjoyed watching rangers in Europe this season, what they lack in quality they make up for in application.

Yip, they are a plucky wee bunch aren’t they. Quite comical as they run about trying to win this third rate trophy. It’s going to be hilarious watching them against Madrid or Liverpool in the European Super Cup Final if they manage to fluke their way to the title here.

  7. For a full back, what about James Tavernier, captain of Rangers and top scorer in Europa League this year and obviously Europa Cup finalist. Hits a dead ball like TAA of Liverpool. May not want to leave mind you. Been there a while and might want a wee run in Champions League if they win tonight.

  8. Just tuned in and saw the first half highlights where 3 Villa chances were shown. McGinn at heart of the 3 moves. Surging run, great left wing cross and a defence splitting through ball.

Our coaching team has spent years around the rangers squad and plenty of time around our squad. If they feel a rangers player is worth buying and would improve our squad then I trust their judgement

I do find it incredible the lack of respect shown to Rangers players. They have reached a major European Final. Surely one or two of them wouldn’t embarrass themselves playing for a mid table Premiership side. Aribo, Bassey, Tavernier and Kent would walk into the majority of Premiership teams. Kamara of last year as well but he has gone right off the boil. Agreed, Scottish League is a joke but Rangers have and are doing it in Europe. If Aribo was playing for a Danish team that reached Europa League Final and was linked with Villa, I believe there would be hardly any dissenting voices.

Did not know that but I was joking. I'm done with hating on Gerrard for now.

Yes, Rangers were 6 points clear when Gerrard left. Rangers dropped stupid points against Motherwell, Aberdeen and Ross County in quick succession, Celtic had 2 Old Firm victories and the 6 point gap was reversed. Celtic have won every game bar the Old Firm draw since SG left. Rangers have been incredible in Europe mind you.

“With the money we’ve spent and the squad we’ve got, at the moment we’re definitely under-achieving.

“Having him and Gary Mac to learn from — two of the Premier League’s greatest midfielders — that’s priceless for me.

“I feel like I’m getting better all the time.

“Some people might not think I am but I certainly feel like I’m improving.

“I’m getting games under my belt in the Premier League and hopefully next season we can finish as high as the manager believes we can.

“I’m as ambitious as him, I’m hungry to succeed
