Or our own fans at times, could highlight lots of posts saying both McGinn and Mings need replacing/are crap.

Totally agree. SJM was off form with Villa, no doubt and I backed him citing the fact that he was Scotland’s international player, three years in a row, saying that despite his poor form, there is a player in there. Just needed his confidence back and a manager to utilise him in a role where he was getting all the accolades with Scotland. There wasn’t much support on here for me but here we are. Hopefully he and the team can kick on.

  2. McGinn hogging the right touchline. I actually wiped away a tear from my eye. As well playing Konsa as a false 9 and Buendia as a sweeper. If there is any position that doesn’t suit SJM, it’s a wide right midfielder. Plays on the right in a front 3 for Scotland and he is excellent. Plays a lot narrower there and can effect the midfield as well, but when he is wide right for Villa, a cone would be more effective. Emery clearly has to go.

Wife at Proclaimers concert tonight in Inverness and she sent me video of Sunshine of Leith being sung by the popular duo. It brought me back memories of SJM winning his last major honour after humbling Rangers at Ibrox. Still think this is best song, sung by fans after a victory….

Hampden I meant. Clearly I am pished. Wife away at Proclaimers in Inverness and I live in Paisley.

  5. Think UE will realise that SJM doesn’t have the ability at top level to play as a deep or even central lying midfielder but if there is a position for a player to play higher up park, timing runs into the box, pressing defenders, even if it is off the bench, then he is your man. More of an instinctive player than a technical one. Anyhoo, another wonderful goal for us.

  6. Emery is clearly a genius. The real deal. To play with 10 men the whole game (overweight Scottish chicken, who has somehow picked up 3 Scottish international player of the year awards in a row) doesn’t really count as a player. Maybe giving him a final swansong before terminating his contract. I am actually at work so never saw the game. I can see that the derision aimed at SJM not there today so he must have played a blinder. Looking forward to the highlights. Brighton going so well as well.

  7. Thought he did really well to instigate second goal. Showed for ball, drove forward, played wee reverse ball which changed angle of attack. I realise that this is a positive message and there is no place for such a thing on this thread.

Are you his brother or something...

He's been pretty average and rubbish for a couple of seasons now, he's just not a PL player.

He has been shocking but so has virtually every Villa player for the majority of season. My argument is, the fan base like a scapegoat and McGinn has been given that accolade. I am a massive SJM fan and on previous posts, I have said he should be dropped. It has annoyed me that he has been singled out though. Today sort of highlights it. He is just part of a massive problem.

Lol the pendulum swing of opinions/emotions on this board is giving me whiplash.

Play 3 or 4 good passes in a row, win a crunching tackle and board are superb and we are a top 6 team casting our eye on Europe.  Lose a soft goal, don’t track a runner and board are terrible and need another managerial change. A pendulum like you say.
