They don't care because they know their supporters, the Brexiter cultists, can't admit to themselves that they truested genuine charlatans, so won't turn on them. If the Brexiters did their house of cards, their entire world perspective and their faith in the path they alone set the country on, would come tumbling down. I'm surprised there's any room on the beaches in the UK with the amount of people with their heads in the sand.

Having people point out the lies just allows these idiots to play the victim. 'Oh you're attacking the government, etc. etc.'

I look at someone like Davis really. O.k not strictly a youth product but we signed him when he was 17 so still in his development years. There was championship interest in him in August so to me it would've been better to loan him for six months where hopefully he'd have stayed fit (big if) and scored a few goals and came back a bit more confident infront of goal.

Instead we kept him around ,he made the odd sub cameo and then got injured v Wolves and we didn't see him until the league cup final.

I think I'm right in saying he was injured the whole time pretty much except for the Wolves game.

Apologies. But could someone direct me to the anti left wing thread? Thanks in anticipation

The idea that it's 'the left' who are criticising the government might be quite comforting to someone in denial that they put actual faith this group of jokers.

It's not true though, but I guess you've got to tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself to get you through your day. 😁

Nobody is bigger than our club, if he goes, it’s is for financial reasons and I’ll be lumping him in the Dwight Yorke, Gareth Barry category.

People said this about Milner, Young, Delph and Barry. All of them went on to win big things. They're not just leaving for the money.

I’d prefer to see Grealish more central in a 4-14-1, whereby our midfield could get closer to Davis, or a 4-1-3-2 with Samatta in and around Davis.

    You're onto something here.

Yeah definitely thought we were more solid with Konsa at RB.  Happy if he stayed in that position for upcoming games.

For sure. Same goes for when Guilbert is back too. He's too lightweight for me.

Dont think we can complain for what we got him at, really we got a bargain for what weve got out of him. Of course he could be much better and who knows it's always possible, thinking hes learnt abit more since we signed him.

I was talking about Elmo there. I agree about Hause though. I thought he looked good with Mings bar that one back pass, and he, stunningly, actually made connection to two attacking corners. That rarely happens with our centre backs!

Why not Elmo? He has got a good cross in him

I think he might not be quite what he once was. And he wasn't that great anyway. Most of the time, we look vulnerable when he comes on.

I was OK with Konsa at RB. It's difficult to say, but I wonder if that helped us look a bit stronger defensively.

The quandary is that he is a very good defender. However, his passing is very lazy at times and we get caught out by it. I don't recall him taking the responsibility on himself to find a forward player down the channels with a long-pass. I also thought he should have done a lot better with his 4 (I think) chances at corners. I like Hause because I think he plays better than he other centre-halves when he's there, but those errors hurt us, and him. But he was preferred to Engels so unlikely to see him dropped.

Engels is injured. As is Guilbert, meaning Konsa was played at RB.

Incidentally, Konsa at RB made me nostalgic for the MON era when it was disappointing to finish 6th.

He didn't drop it, he was pushed. People can't change facts even if Trump has made it standard.

I watched it again before posting previously. Nobody can argue that it was a clean take. Just like the one before. And how many other times.

@Enda and @Rolta didn't say it didn't happen and that for a keeper it wasn't poor. All I was saying was is it wouldn't have been a goal had Davis not been there, therefore it was not calamitous.

It's calamitous — dangerous, maybe — that he looks like he's going to drop it frequently when he catches a cross. What happened after the catch doesn't change that.

  12. 7 minutes ago, LancsVillan said:

Calamitous! If Davis doesn't hit him nothing happens he has caught the ball and is moving towards but in front of the post.

If Davis wasn't there he'd have sloppily caught it and nigh on near spilled it. It wasn't a clean take at all. He did it shortly before 'the incident' too.

Thats what im getting at its a trend of collosal and basic defensive mistakes. Ive never seen so many stupid ones in a season.

Its costs ua bog time.  Smiths never been a great defensive coach. Ask brentford fans

Do you watch all the games? I wouldn't pretend to know about the other teams because I only watch Villa. Are David Luiz's mistakes at every club he's been at down to coaching or is it because he makes mistakes. We're a budget team in most positions and you get what you pay for.

Anyway, I'll leave you to it as you seem to have made your mind up despite some pretty reasonable counter arguments.

How do you train that? Your making out as if this is the first instance this has happened all season.  We have seen so many pathetic errors like hauses yesterday all season. I wont accept its a one off.

We have been a defensive shambles under smith this year.

So you're ignoring the fact they were individual mistakes and that other than that we looked good defensively, limiting them to pretty much nothing.

He just doesn't have the clinical instinct.

The first one over the top (when he was offside) I was screaming at the TV, he waits and waits, lets it bounce, then he's still waiting for something. I'm screaming HIT THE BLOODY BALL.

The backpost header, not even on target.

The ball across from El Ghazi where he was a yard too slow to poke it into an empty goal.

Its frustrating to watch because he's doing the job of being a nuisance very well, and this makes things happen. He's just not the man to put them in the net consistently. He might work much better as part of a 2 man strikeforce.

You missed the other chance where Henderson made a top-quality save. On another day, or with a shitter keeper, that would have been a goal.

You don't play them. Simple as that.

    Hause and Nyland both liabilities.

On Nyland I agree 100%. I think yesterday it was a choice between Hause and Elmo, and I think I prefer the back four that we had. Elmo is a bit past it—I think Hause has good attributes too and he was decent bar that one mistake.

  17. 1 hour ago, Demitri_C said:

Yeah the same defensive mistakes hause, mings and nyland.

Thwy have had bloody weeks to sort thia out and its still the same.

    What are you on about?

One bad backpass from Hause. How do you 'train' that?

One ludicrous mistake from Nyland and another spilled catch besides. How do you 'train' that? Apart from that our defence barely gave United a sniff.

Grealish needs to play in the middle. Samatta wide left. Keinan up front who I thought was excellent despite the criticism levelled at hom.

Drop Conor who is absolutely anonymous and just has no influence on the game.

Positives = clean sheet and no defeat. Good bit of match fitness - might play into our hands against Chelsea. McGinn got 70 minutes and didn't look as off the pace as I thought - due to all others not being at 100%.

Gutted we didn't come away with 3 points but still in the fight.

Yeah we need Jack more in the game.

    SO PROUD OF THE BOYS!

Bossed that game. Should have won that.

We were organized, energetic and a threat going forward, until Keinan went off.

Play like that and we can beat Chelsea. I firmly believe that.

I agree. It's on. Aren't United one of the best away teams in the league? We should have won. It was a story of keepers. There's is insane. Ours is insane too but completely for different reasons and he cannot play again. We could have easily won. It's a war now. I prefer our chances as of now than ore lockdown. At least it'll be interesting. We're a point behind, maybe two with the GD, but it's still on.

If Smith has been dealt a crap hand then what did Lambert? Being forced to recruit from the lower leagues...

Let's not do this again. Please don't hijack the thread with the same opinion everyone's read roughly every two pages.

    We're all excited for tonight.

We need to get back to the point per game average.

Chelsea is up next which we are likely to lose. Lose today and we are way off track.

38 pts is the aim. Anything above that is a bonus.

I misread your post I think. Anyway, yeah, it would be great if we got at least something from tonight, and we all know what we're actually hoping for.
