Man city in the cup, Leicester away and then Chelsea at home. Lose all of those and it would be six defeats in a row. That would be make the away game at cabbage a must win. Given our appalling away form I wouldnt be confident of getting anything out of that game.

I'd probably recommend taking the point of view that we're ****!

  2. He was nowhere near Long for Southampton's opener. It was basic defending. He was great against Leicester in the cup though, so hopefully, if he plays this weekend, he's somehow amazing.

Playing against 10 men may be our downfall and is disgraceful.

Against Arsenal ( Under Unai Emery...) lost the game

Against West Ham at home, drew the game

Against Brighton at home, won the game, but highly unconvincingly.

    Against Watford, lost the game

    Against Bournemouth, lost the game

This Brighton game you talk about isn't a good one to support your point. We were awful against 11 men and we dominated against 10 men (they did get some counter-attack chances though).

The word disgraceful is hyperbole anyway. Your prejudice would be less obvious if you toned it down a bit. That's not me defending anything, just suggesting that using ott words undermines things. I ultimately agree that it's a shame that we didn't manage to capitalise on a lot of those opportunities. How we could have done with those points now—but as has been pointed out in another thread, those teams are full of expensive players and have had years upon years of constant investment in maintaining Premier League quality. Playing against ten men against good teams is often, as we all know if we take off our angry glasses, a challenge—especially when you are one of the weakest teams in the league. For example, Arsenal have players on another level of quality to 90% of our team—in fact, they all do.

So, yeah, it's not disgraceful, but it's a massive **** shame we couldn't get more from those games. I wish we had more points so much—I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about our chances.

  4. He's one of our two best fit CMs. I'm actually surprised at the hate on here—I thought he was OK on Sunday. He got badly outpaced one time for sure, but who was that against?

His calmness is on another level to Nakamba's.

Engels or any other defender shouldn't be in the position having to make last ditch tackles all the time. If our midfield offered more protection and we had a actual defensive midfielder, I think we would be  a lot more solid regardless who is playing in defence.

To be fair to Spurs they have very dangerous and quick wingers. It's their strength. I'm not sure a DM could have done much to stop them there (apart from obviously hassling away some through balls).

Only one of those transfers is from a Championship club, which is what we are in this scenario. If we go with £40m, say, that's about half as much again as Sessegnon.

£30m has only been received by a Championship club once, for Moussa Sissoko. Pickford, Wijnaldum, Maddison, Sessegnon, all under that level. Sure, Grealish is worth more than those, but he's not going to be worth more than double, I don't think.

Jack has stats better this season than some of the best players in the world—and he's doing it in the Prem at a struggling team. I think you're being negative for no reason.

If spurs haven't won an away game for two months, and only won 2 out of 12 away games, its perfect timing for villa to do a villa and give them the win.

May as well find their only striker who hasn't scored for over 9000 years as well and play him, whomever it is they will probably score the winning goal.

    Such is the villa way.

Haha this genuinely always seems to be the way. **** sake, let's just get a win.

Honestly that was not a dig at Keinan at all, it was a joke about me.  If it came across as a dig at Keinan it was never meant that way.  You know me, I dont hide my feelings about Davis.

    Ha ok.

Knew that was the reason I didn’t get to be a world class footballer, my school gym teacher overplayed me through injury

That’s my story, my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😂😂😜

Your obsession with Davis is weird.

any information on how bad his injury is?  Was it just a tight hamstring?

Nah it's just been Nick no here for a week telling everyone Davis can't score.

We barely take any pts against the top half teams and we've got a bunch of them coming up. That's where most of the concern lies.

The myth that we beat the teams around us is a lie. We've gifted Bournemouth 6 pts and we lost to Watford. We drew to Brighton.

We have to start getting some pts where it's not expected.

I have similar concerns. Other teams have taken points off top-half teams and we're going to have to start doing it ourselves now. It is a tragedy we gave Bomo 6 points. They didn't deserve it either (based on the first game and Heaton's moment of utter madness). We need to play like we played against Leicester in the cup in every game now.

Well, it wasn't entirely scratch, we still had 2 very good midfielders, who can be expensive to buy.

I still think we could have bought better...albeit we had to get squad fillers too, which in the main we have.

we wouldn't go without a striker or a goal keeper......so why do we go with such inexperience at CDM......its the engine room of the team....its a crucial position.

when teams with good ones, miss them through injury, it affects them badly, and its noticable.

I think we could have spent more prudently, but thats just my opinion.

We are missing McGinn to be fair. I think back to when we were linked to Kalvin Phillips—I think we would have been in a much better position with him. I agree that the inexperience at CM has put us in a bit of a bleak position. Nakamba and Luiz have both had good games, but they're inconsistent.

Just seen ssn were struggling to get a striker for me villa recruitment and management are accountable they knew we needed a striker and backup strikers for well over a month. Leaving it to the last minute you get your fingers burnt.

Do you think maybe that they didn't leave it to the last minute?

Hmm To work or repeatedly press F5 all day. The great biannual debate

Not aimed at you but does anyone know an app that would notify a person when there is actual transfer news? I'm not saying official signings.

If only Villareport had an app.

Oh, or is there something I can do on Twitter? I can deal with a couple of tweets of bullshit. It's better than refreshing villatalk all day.
