  1. I think we are absolutely ready for the champions league. With our squad fully fit, we have a really strong squad. Add in Kosta at right back and some of our youngsters improving, we would be in good shape. That’s before we do anything in the transfer market. A year in the Europa league won’t make us any more ready. We’d have more or less the same number of games to play. Furthermore, our players will be expecting us to qualify now so failure to do so will lead to disappointment and some big players likely looking for moves to champions league teams. We are in a tricky PSR position too so need every penny we can get. This could be a one time chance. We are unlikely to have a better chance any time soon.
  2. France? France have no chance. It’s between England and Germany. The two all English German ties are huge.
  3. Disaster to concede three goals like that against a team that parked the bus. It’s not a popular opinion but Torres is so weak defensively. When was the last time he did a brilliant piece of defending. Carlos had to do all the defending out there. It’s a huge drop off from Mings defensively. That’s the key reason we are conceding so many goals.
  4. It’s the unspoken truth but Torres is really not a very good defender.
  5. Carlos needs to be much smarter. He’s wrestling 30 seconds before corners are even being taken and draws attention to himself. Probably cost himself a penalty by the prejudice in the ref’s head.
  6. Twitter saying Toney is on the bench because he strained a muscle in the warm up mid week.
  7. I like the look of that team. And some good options on the bench. Feel a bit for Duran though. Why isn’t Toney playing?
  8. I always thought xG was a bit odd but I’ve totally ignored it since we had almost identical xG to Brighton after destroying them 6-1. I’ve no idea how it’s calculated and I couldn’t care less. It’s a ridiculous tool that gets far too much attention. If we don’t win tomorrow, it won’t be because our xG data is painting a picture.
  9. Absolutely beautiful that he already marked it full time at 3-3. “Why are we attacking?” What a loser’s mindset. All while wearing his pyjamas. Excellent. Can’t wait to enjoy more of these videos from the comfort of my own home.
  10. It’s so pleasing to see that happen to man United for a change. So pleasing.
  11. West Ham need to win free kicks to gain any sort of momentum and territory. Otherwise they’re hopeless.
  12. In fairness to him, he was the main threat that made the difference against Luton and set up the spurs goal again tonight.
  13. So excluding the four games we have in common, we play Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton and Palace. Two home and two away. You’d hope all four will have little or nothing to play for when we play them, although Brentford are not safe yet. Spurs have West Ham away, Forest at home, Newcastle away, Burnley at home and Sheffield United away. Newcastle and West Ham away are very tough. Forest will be up for it to stay up. You’d hope Burnley might still be fighting for their lives in the second last game. I think 70 points would be a good return for Spurs. I’d take our fixtures every day of the week and twice on a Sunday, along with the fact we have three extra points on the board already.
  14. I have a good feeling we might win this for some unknown reason. Just helped myself to a small flutter at 10-1.
  15. Brentford must be close to breaking the record for hitting the wood work.
  16. Silly yellow for Duran. Is that him out of the next game?
  17. We seem happy to play out the game around our own box. Risky business.
  18. I agree that it would be ideal to have a full squad doing pre season training together but the problem with the Ramsey case for example is getting injured in the first place, rather than missing six weeks of training over July and August. Ramsey was flying at the end of last season but then has to spend months on the sidelines. That can present psychological and emotional challenges as well as the physical. He comes back and scores against Everton, then has a setback and spends another spell out. Now he’s out again. For me, the problem here is the injury killing his momentum, not the absence of pre-season. Same with Moreno. He was out for six months and hasn’t looked the same player since he came back. Again, I think the injury itself is the root problem here. The players have plenty of time and support to do the equivalent of a pre-season when they recover from injury, but a long spell out can make it difficult. I should also say this is just my opinion. I shouldn’t pass my opinion off as fact.
  19. They can go through the same process as they’re recovering from injury and before they’re thrown back into the team. The pre-season talk is a myth.
