  1. Interesting one this at the start of the window I’d have said it’s not an area we needed to sign a starting player. Will Konsa and Carlos be happy as bench warmers as I’m guessing Pau and Ming’s are the obvious starting CB pairing and CB’s are normally a rotated position.

We're top 3 team since Emery joined

We are but we do not have that sort of money for single player signings right now, if we actually finish top 3 next season then maybe that would change.

i would have thought his wages would be an issue?!

Hopefully, really is the kind of squad player we need to keep hold of with the amount of games we are likely to be playing in the coming season.

  4. To many posters saying ‘he must’ or ‘he deserves’ a chance not as simple as that there’s a difference between a decent championship loan spell and playing well in a development league compared to top flight PL football.

Not saying it won’t happen but we need to have faith in the coaching staff making the right decision here we are a top 7 side aiming higher, no room for ‘giving someone minutes’ at this level. We need players able to step up when needed.

I hope we aren’t over hyping him like we have with so many in the past.

I’ll be shocked if he’s not in the squad coke September. Don’t we also need him for the 4 home trained players?

    His names not Jack!

I'm not someone who wants to sell off, say, Dendoncker. I understand squad depth. And at this point, if we're going to have all 4 of Konsa/Mings/Diego/Torres for this year, great. I just worry about the long-term stability of this particular situation, i.e. after this season.

I'm a believer that you want your team to be roughly 50% players who are at the peak of the career, 25% older players who may not be able to put in as many minutes but bring leadership and experience to the table, and 25% younger players who are working their way up the ladder and are your future. (I said roughly, it could be 20-60-20 or whatever.) JJ is a good example of the youngster, Ashley Young a good example of the old guy. Both were able to contribute many, many meaningful minutes last year, but neither one expected to play, or did play, every match. They weren't second rate players, just not at their peak.

The problem with Diego/Mings/Konsa/Torres is that you have 4 players at the peak of their career. That's where I think that someone might be unhappy. On the top of that, CBs seem to be the least rotated, even in teams that rotate heavily. They also seem to be the least subbed late in matches. When you're the critical last line of defence, developing an understanding and knowing what your partner is going to do is crucial. I just don't see Unai doing a 4 CB rotation in PL matches, and is Diego (or is anyone else among the 4) going to be happy playing just League Cup matches? What if we go out early from one or both domestic cups again? If, say, Mings and Torres are outstanding in the PL, is Unai really going to want to change for European matches?

Someone is probably going to want out next summer. I am not saying sell any of them right now.

Konsa isn't at his peak yet, he could potentially be better than all of them in a couple of years (not saying he will)

I think that would be a fantastic quartet of CB's should Diego get back to full fitness, not many teams in the league would have that much strength in depth.

Think it's 4 home grown players, only senior player that fits that criteria is Ramsey.

Right so I guess AJ, Archer, Tim O and JJ tick that box.

I think we might be forced to keep him in the squad this season just for homegrown rule in Europe, even if Emery doesn't want him.

What are the home grown rules for the ECL?

Villa comes first I know but I wouldn't want to hold back his career just to tick a box if Emery/Villa don't think he will make it at this level.

Really need our fitness team to pull off a miracle getting his body to work again

Need the transfer team to get the best possible fee for him to free up his wages.

Maddison's always had severe smarminess about him.

Wolverine lookalike guys a first class Representative for Wellingborough.

Can't see spurs fans taking to him after those tweets.

    But why say congrats?

Obviously like the guy but I don't wish him well at Spurs. As him doing well there could have a big negative impact on us.

Hope he fails. If he goes to a different country on the other hand I wish him the best.

Because he's easily replaced, Mile is nothing special he has zero coaching credentials I really couldn't care less where he goes.

Straight man for now but I haven't met Moreno yet

My missus rates the Villa team DL, MC then TM she says Moreno looks like a 10 yr old boy, appealing to some I guess.

I don't think congrats is the right word.

He is going to a rival club.

But once Ange gets sacked he'll be the new No1 so for him it's a decent move. We'll recruit a new bloke in charge of loans.

  14. I've seen on here posters say he's supposed to be a bit of a nob in real life but I don't know where they are drawing those opinions from? Just seems a genuine nice guy to me?
