Then that’s a shit model to have or a shit system to have players in.
clubs like Villa need to extract the best out of their players. Not just for footballing benefits but also financial benefits.
Villa and many other clubs don’t have the mega commercial deals as yet, so our biggest and best way to keep the books looking good is the ability to buy cheep and sell high, with replacements lined up.
having perennial backups that don’t achieve more than that is a waste of money and resources, also a waste of their career.
Dendonker sat on our bench is a waste for him. Yet Villa still have the possibility to extract some value out of him. If they can, they should take it and reinvest it
So using the buy cheap sell high model you talk of we should be selling McGinn, Luiz and Martinez as they were all bought cheap and all significantly increased in value?

So in terms of outs i'm thinking
Not required: Hause, Wesley, Davis
Could leave: Olsen, Chambers, Digne, Dendoncker, Iroegbunam (loan), Traore, Philogene (loan), Coutinho
Outside chance: Carlos
And for insRB competition
GK (if we can move Olsen on)I think the could leave list is a lot bigger than that, I don’t think we would be actively looking to move anyone else on but if the right offers came in who know who we could see leave.

Ok we keep a player that’s not going to improve his ability or value.
If we can get our money back, I rather that money invested in a player that could end up being better than Donk is now
Yes it happens all the time, chances are a fair few of the current squad will not improve in ability or value doesn’t mean we have to sell them all that Isn’t how having a squad of players works, they can’t all be superstars.

we need to recycle our financial assets at some point.
As good as Donk is as backup, he’s not going to get better. let’s flip him for someone with potential.
keeps FFP demons at bay and gives us a chance to improve the squad long term.
That's nonsense flipping Donk would not help FFP one bit. From a FPP sense it would make more sense to flip Martinez, Luiz, Kamara, Ollie and especially McGinn all bought for a lot less than they are worth now.

Not really since anyone who says so want's him to be replaced with another midfielder. Be it Adams, Amrabat or someone else. Not really seen people saying get rid and don't replace.
But that logic could be laid at anyone in the squad, why not sell Luiz and replace him with better?
Dendoncker is a quality player to have as back up to Kamara, we will struggle to find a better player willing to be back up.

Don't see the facsination with getting rid of the The Donck™ by some on here it's almost an obssesion, he's perfect back up for Kamara why fix something that isn't broken.

If you mean Prowse he wouldn’t sign unless he was starting. I’d be starting him ahead of Luiz who is vastly overrated on here.
He really isn't overrated on here or elsewhere for that matter.

What if you combine Ward and Prowse?
Sure that is what I said.

Amrabat is a very good DM but I’d prefer Prowse who will get you 8-10 goals a season and is Premiership ready.

Prefer neither he wouldn't get 8-10 goals for this tean as he wouldn't be a starter.

Dendonker’s a goner mate.
Not so sure tbh, if he goes we will need to replace him he could start in a lot of PL teams, real strength in depth if we can keep hold of him, guess we'll have to wait and see. If he says he wants first team football he'll force our hand unfortunately.

I'm OK with giving Archer and Duran a chance as they have ability.
As I said before people are dreaming if they think we were going to drop 80 million on another striker.
Backup GK and a RB and that's us done for incoming and I'm happy with that.
That was never an option unless we sold Ollie.

What worries me is why have there been no real bids for Amrabat, given his relatively cheap price in comparison
Can't see us being in for him unless Dendonker or Luiz or both move on.
-
If it's confirmed Archer and Duran are to be kept around I think that pretty much signals we won't be adding any one else to the forward line - Ollie, Archer, JD, Bailey, Diaby and Traore it is.

Would never have figured that out without the Athletic’s insightful research and slick PowerPoint. Bless them for not sticking it behind their paywall and depriving the masses of this revelation.
What an enlightened piece of work, journolistic gold, thank god I don't waste a subscription! Talk about stating the obvious

Re Oxlade-Chamberlain, that girl from Little Mix had a baby with him so she must think he’s a keeper…
I’ll get my coat, sorry!

So many links floating around at the moment the Sofyan Amrabat one seems to be gaining pace, wish the Oxlade-Chamberlain ones would disappear. None about goal keepers though which is odd.

The best transfer journalist in the last 10 years covering Villa says we were interested yeah. So I'd say we were.
I'd imagine most sensible people would agree.
Showed an interest and try and buy are completely different things.

Class player and far to young RIP Trevor.
-
His distribution is terrible totally jeopardises the way Unai wants and expects the team to play, as a shot stopper he’s ok it’s the other parts of his game that makes him a square peg in a round hole as far as this team is concerned.
Real area for concern but such a hard position to fill adequately.

Just rewatching the Newcastle game and it’s actually not a bad showing from him all things considered.
