so our current squad, i'd say there are 10 places which are nailed down.
standard back 5
4 from tielmans, luiz, kamara, mcginn & ramsey
watkins & TBD
then 1 space left for another forward player out of buendia, coutinho, bailey, and traore. i think even coutinho's harshest critics would still put him above bailey and traore which means he's battling with buenda for the remaining place in the 11. based on that, i'm quite surprised people want him gone so badly because we don't exactly have an abundance of options in the wide/number 10 role
now, if we sign a couple of quality forward options, then my view might change. but as things stand, we need coutinho.
I'd be absolutely amazed if a quality forward didn't join this window.

Some Turkish twitter account claiming an offer has gone in from Besiktas. Article doesn’t mention a loan.

Need him and his inflated wage to be moved on, it will hold us back if he doesn’t go.

I'm actually really disappointed with this, BK8 the Malaysian owned yeah right () gone is our right to critisise PIF, Saudis etc.

Other than some vague link to Liverpool surprised there doesn't seem to be any interest in Eberechi Eze he's had a great season
-
Hope they don't appoint Vieira, I think he was harshley dismissed from Palace and will be a really succesful manager in the future. Go for Farke dirty Leeds.

Hopefully goes nowhere, great squad member for a 50+ game season.

Yes Donks! (Tielemans in there too)
Not good enough even as squad player for us though according to quite a few on here.

Chuck him in the reserves for 2 seasons absolute wasteman
What a stupid comment he’s done well for us when called upon.

Not really that surprising from Neves. This is a player who moved from a CL side to the Championship, he chased money before and is chasing it again.
And I’m sure others will follow unfortunately.

Neves could’ve probably got a move to a CL team, not a PL one, but abroad I’m sure. But chose to take the money and essentially give up on the prime years of his career.
Not a good sign is it? Up until this they tended to prey on players in the twilight of there career at the end of a contract. If they are now intending to start buying top talent in there prime it is very very worrying.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we sign Goncalves, Williams, and Felix, as our new attacking contingent. Chuck in Pau Torres and a reserve keeper and we’d be set for next season.
Will never happen, Goncalves maybe and of the three he's who I would like to come here. Not overly bothered about Williams and we have very little chance of signing Felix.

No evidence that he’s a third choice. Besides in any job you don’t put all your eggs into a singular basket. He’s been a huge success at Sevilla and is on great terms with Unai. This bodes extremely well for the future.
No evidence he is is third choice. nice one that hilarious.

I'd never heard of him, either. Then I watched his YT videos. And I was convinced.
I find it all a bit funny! please send a link to those youtube vidoes.

I cannot believe that some of us are bored about waiting for Monchi to sign! I've had my fingers crossed since I first realised there was a chance that he'd join Emery at our club. If it happens (as I believe it will) I will be opening my whisky cabinet and celebrating, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy the excitement of anticipating top class people (world class?) coming to us. It's amazing how far we've come in the last five years. NSWE, EMERY, MONCHI .... This will be the best AVFC set up that I have ever seen in my seven decades of supporting the mighty Villa!
Why the excitment? Genuine question as isn't he our third choice for this position. I'm not saying it's a bad appointment because in all honesty I don't follow the career of these type of people (and if you are all honest you don't either )

So around £115.375K a week
Eh? How did you work that out it's around 135k a week which would make him our 3rd top earner behind Digne and Kamara, as much of a talent as he is I can't see that. That's why i'm calling BS on on this one.
Apologies it's euros, still calling BS on it.

Wouldn’t they have had a couple of qualifiers too? Potentially very big ones.
No they are straight into the group stages I believe.

It's what makes signing players like Oxlade -Chamberlaine sensible.
It really doesn’t!

We’ll have had a pre season and a couple of conference league qualifiers by the Newcastle game, I’d fancy our chances.

My guess is Bournemouth at home first game.

I think that Unai has 4 main targets. We have already secured Youri and I think the other 3 that he really wants are Williams, Goncalves and Pau Torres.
I would have thought that we would have to shell out £130m In transfer fees to secure the other 3 but I really hope that we can do it. Those are 4 big players who are next level to any of our previous NSWE signings. At what point do you think Youri became a main target?

its well known that pre the NWSE era our interest in the youth development side of things was on the decline badly.
I agree we can argue us versus them versus others etc etc in terms of how good our youth development was, but its not really up or debate i dont think that our interest in youth development for a fair few years pre NSWE was on the decline.
That happens when teams get relegated they look to cut costs is what it is. I absolutely agree with you we are trying to develop a top notch youth system now, we can buy as much talent as we want and I think Dean Smith had a lot to do with that intiating that.
I don't think Emery is that interested tbh he's more about the here and now player wise
